Magnolia Goods in Nashville TNHello, my friends. It’s time for another 10 Things I Love Sunday.

1. Attended the opening of Magnolia Goods in Nashville, TN (my IG husband got a pretty good pic, no?). It’s just gorgeous in there. I bought a blanket for our nursery and plan to go back and buy all the clothes as soon as we know our baby’s sizes. I recognized dozens of independent brands walking through… made my heart so happy!

On that note! I just realized I am finally really ready to write a Nashville shopping guide, so keep an eye out for that!

2. I want to try this breakfast pizza recipe from Pinch of Yum.

3. Ever fallen head over heels in love with a bag?

Me too.

4. This is the next book on my reading list.

5. Loved this kitchen renovation reveal from Almost Makes Perfect. So inspiring!

6. Been working on a list of weekend road trips we can do as a family of three. First on my list is this adorable hotel in Chattanooga, TN. Please leave me links in the comments of any special places you know of where we could do a little weekend stay (that are baby friendly). I’m thinking mostly short drives and direct flights for the first few trips.

(BTW—I see now that this hotel doesn’t allow little kids, which is so weird. So I guess we’ll go there pre-baby. Is that common to not allow children under 12 in a hotel??)

While it’s still just the two of us, we are going to make the most of it and travel as much as we can to places that aren’t so baby friendly… still trying to decide a beachy babymoon location as well! I’m not sure whether to choose one we know and love or branch out and go someplace new.

7. Just ordered these (found out about them from Taylor Sterling) and so excited because I LOVE art supplies and pretty office supplies of any kind.

8. You can pre-order my husband’s PINK record here. It’s only $17. We were lucky enough to get a few pressings this past week, and wow—it’s just beautiful. It comes out April 28th and my favorite song is Awake and Pretty Much Sober. 

9. Still slowly decorating our nursery and planning to reveal it here on the blog in May. It’s by FAR my favorite room I’ve ever decorated. There is something so warm and fuzzy about preparing a room for your child before they arrive. I swear I get choked up every time I walk in there. It has helped make our waiting period more manageable, more than I can even express. I am going to try not to share any more spoilers because I don’t want to ruin the surprise (like I always do! I am the worst at keeping secrets…), but if you follow me on Instagram, you know this mirror was one of the first pieces that inspired the whole design.

It’s been really fun to work on a nursery alongside Laura. And even though we have a lot of similar tastes, our rooms are turning out so, so different. Can’t wait for you to see!

10. Watched Moonlight last weekend… it was incredible.

  • I’m really looking forward to your nurseries!

    And I recognize the feeling about decorating it. The nursery is the first room my partner and I decorated together, so it’s also the first room that is a blend of us, just like baby P, and not just a bunch of our stuff put together. And it is so special to imagine the future and decorate a room for that. I’m also really looking forward to decorating her room to fit her when she grows older. (I’m really hoping she won’t be colorblind, so she’ll love the Ferm Living terrazzo pink wallpaper – because I’m never having another baby, but I really want that wallpaper in a nursery/childrens room)
    I’m also really happy with how it turned out, both in decor as in practicality. Even though she’s not sleeping there yet, so it’s mainly used for diaper changes, it’s the room that makes me the happiest to be in. (I kinda want to share pictures here, but I don’t have them online).

  • Sorry to burst your bubble, but browsing that hotel site, it specifically says “no children under the age of 12” 🙁 maybe that has to be a quick babymoon trip, in addition to the beach! The rooms are stunning.

  • I highly recommend AirBnB or a hotel suite when traveling! Otherwise you’ll find yourself drinking wine and eating sandwiches in the bathroom while your little one sleeps in the main part of the hotel room. Not the most relaxing way to unwind after getting your little one down 😉

  • Asheville, NC is a beautiful mountain town with great shopping and delicious food. Family/baby friendly! Takes me about four hours to get to Nashville.

  • You could always stay at the Read House in Chattanooga. It’s not beautiful like the Dwell Hotel, but it has historic charm. It’s my favorite place to stay in Chattanooga! Across the river is great park for littles and you could get a yummy lunch at Good Dog. Good Dog is small, but baby friendly. They have vintage Halloween and Christmas blow molds for decorations! *insert heart eyes*

  • I’ve never heard of a hotel that doesn’t allow kids (other than those Sandals adults only resorts). That seems so odd to me. I don’t have kids, though, so maybe I’d understand more if I did.

  • You can’t go wrong in Chattanooga, but I would wholeheartedly suggest you stay at the Dwell. Their in-house restaurant and bar are fantastic.

    There’s otherwise at ton of stuff to do here (shopping! eating! mountains!), and with it being so close, you should totally come visit.

    Florence/Muscle Shoals, AL are cute music towns about the same distance as Chattanooga.

    If you drive straight down there are beautiful beaches in Alabama and Florida. Fairhope, AL is a cute town in the Mobile Bay with Gulf Shores, AL beaches close by. Pensacola, FL is right on the beach and has a little more to do.

  • oh my gosh, I stayed at the Dwell in Chattanooga in November for a work trip. It. Is. So. Good. The decor is impeccable, their restaurant and bar (and cocktails) are to die for. Seriously, I wish i weren’t so far away (in Seattle) so I could go back again and again and again. Go with your hubby when you get a chance. I think they don’t allow little kids because each room is furnished with hand picked vintage items curated by the owner and some of them are pretty one of a kind. I agree, weird, but I guess if they have enough guests it works for them?

  • Not allowing kids is just odd. But agree with the previous post about doing AirBnB, only way to travel with kids, from what I have heard, traveling sounds so flipping stressful, we postponed our trip to France this year to possibly next summer when our son is 2.5 instead of 1.5 because the thought of the long flight and time change was making it so unfun for me

  • If you like the outdoors, I recommend Mammoth Cave Kentucky. It’s beautiful in the Spring and Summer! Only a couple hours away.

  • We just had our first vacation with a baby! My personal take-a-ways: a villa/cabin was a better experience than hotel room (bc with hotel option, either you are hanging out in the bathroom or baby is, which means no bubble baths toothbrushing after 7pm). My husband and I are big on eating out during vacations, but we found he just ordered food to go and we enjoyed it on the balcony of our hotel or over looking the rice fields at our villa. Different, but I still got to enjoy delicious food and didn’t have to cook it!

    During our “wait time” during adoption process, decorating the nursery was extra hard bc we didn’t know boy/girl or age! We decided on camping/mountains bc added colors and accessories could change the gender. SO LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NURSERY REVEAL!
