Today, we’re rounding up our favorite craft projects using textiles like yarn, fabric, wool roving, pom poms … all the things! If you’re just starting out and want to learn how to crochet or weave (or if you’re looking for something more challenging), keep scrolling!
Have you always wanted to learn how to crochet? Click here to learn the basics so you can host a craft night (like we did!) and make these cute coasters (and mason jar tumblers).
If learning how to weave is also on your bucket list, we have some great tutorials for that, too. Get started with our friend (and weaving queen) Rachel, here and here, and be sure to check out our weaving archives so you can learn how to make rugs, scarves, and pillows, too.
This isn’t a regular weaving—it’s actually a faux weaving. It’s easy to make and the perfect statement piece for a blank wall!
Have you tried needle felting? You can make an adorable garland like this. And, since macarons are 100% on our mind now (yours too?) learn how to make the real thing here.
Separate an area of your space with a macrame room divider—it’s like a grown-up version of a beaded curtain 🙂
Make a thick, woven bath mat.
So much texture! This faux woven pillow only requires a few supplies—one being a glue gun.
We replaced our dryer sheets with wool dryer balls last year, and it’s total game changer. Be sure to use a few drops of your favorite essential oils before tossing them in the dryer (we love using lavender on our bedding).
A really simple way to add fringe and texture to a plain shower curtain.
It’s still really warm where we live, but that doesn’t mean fall weather isn’t on our minds. A cozy cowl will be needed before we know it!
Learn how to make giant tassels out of yarn to make a large wall hanging for your bedroom. Aren’t these colors dreamy?
Awww! Learn how to knit a comfy bed for your cat (or someone else’s—this would make a great gift!).
How adorable is this rainbow wall hanging? This one happens to be made out of pool noodles—bet you weren’t expecting that.
And here’s another rainbow one—it’s so colorful and fun, and it’s made out of … yarn. 😉
The time spent making your own woven pillow makes it even more special when you get to display (and use it) in your home.
Add big, fluffy pom poms to a blanket (Bonus: You don’t have to make the blanket!). This is one of those projects you can work on while watching TV.
Elsie made this gorgeous braided wall hanging for her living room. It looks even bigger in person!
Instead of searching for the perfect rug for your kitchen, make your own using fabric strips and clothesline.
Save the money you’d normally spend on a cute basket like this by making your own. You can even use a pom pom maker to speed up the process.
Follow this easy tutorial to make your own macrame + gold bar bracelet.
Here’s a creative way to make a backdrop for a party or wedding backdrop. You could even mix in different colors of yarn to create an ombre effect.
Happy making, friends! – The ABM Team
