Today, with our good friends at Canon USA, we’re excited to issue you a challenge!
It’s something we’ve all been meaning to do but have put off for way too long. We’re printing our Instagram photos and making albums.
Everyone here at ABM is joining in as well!
We challenge you to print your Instagram photos. (Start small or print them all. It’s up to you!) Then make a photo album and share it with us on Instagram using #mybeautifulmess. We’ll be commenting on your photos and sharing a few of our favorites on the ABM instagram account.
We’re excited to see what you create!
To kick off our challenge, we got together, brought snacks, and made our first albums together. We each printed about 20 photos and filled 4×4 inch mini albums with them. At the office here, we used our Canon PIXMA MG7120 to print our photos on their semi-gloss photo paper. We added a few titles with stickers and handwritten notes, but for the most, part we kept it pretty simple. We were all able to complete our albums within an hour (and that includes time for chatting and snacking!). High fives!
The best part, we all finished our albums motivated and inspired to make more.
Our finished albums are the happiest sight to see.
Supplies needed: Canon PIXMA MG7120, 4×4 mini albums (they come in Gray, Mint, Coral and Gold), and extra 4×4 pages (We all used one extra pack, but two extra packs would totally fit.)
Can’t wait to see your albums popping up on Instagram! xo. Elsie + the team

Love this!! I am really considering purchasing this printer because I just cannot stand the fact that all of my photos are on my computer or my phone. I need them printed out! 🙂 But I am just really worried about the quality of photos that it would print. I have gotten a photo printer in the past and you could totally tell it was printed at home, they came out a little sticky from the ink and you could definitely see the pixels. Can the quality of these photos be compared to costco or another high quality photo printing store?
Thanks so much for your help in advance!
Jordyn
Pretty Lovely
This looks like so much fun!! I want to make my album too! 🙂

Photos have become so digital these days, I love the idea of turning them into a real object you can touch and hold onto for years. Plus those little square albums are adorable!

All of the mini binders are sold out! Sad day! But it is about time I print out my pictures!
Hi Amber,
They have them on Amazon and at Hobby Lobby too. Hope that helps! 🙂
Lovely idea, I love looking through photo albums x

Thanks! I too was sad when I saw they were sold out. Heading over to Amazon now… (Sadly, I’d much rather go without an album than shop at evil Hobby Lobby…!)
So excited to make these. Fun post! Thanks 🙂
I wish I could make my own mini photo album! Can you guys give that a shot sometime soon? Those albums are cute and I for sure want to get a few but I would love to do the whole thing from scratch and have a custom designed cover. Any ideas?
If we don’t hAve the funds to purchase the printer at the moment is there another way to print our IG pics? Thanks for sharing-love these mini albums. I want to do one for my hubby with pictures from our recent wedding! =)
this may be a stupid question but how do you print photos from instagram?
Oh this is great! I am going to get this printer for Christmas for sure. Our family has been going through a lot and it dawned on me how important it is to preserve memories. Thanks Elsie and Emma for reminding us to do so. Great job as always!
such a brilliant idea! i loved turning my instagram snaps into magnets but i think having them as an actual photo album would be that much better 🙂
How fun! I never print out my phone pics but now I’m going to have to! By the way, who is the girl in the orange shirt? Her hair is adorable! I would love to see more of her cute haircut; maybe a tutorial for all of us short, short hair girls! Cheers!
The Boston Terrier blouse! Please share where you found this treasure. Thanks!
I really appreciate all the emphasis you guys put on going back to basics and printing your photos. I remember that each time I would leaf through my grandfather’s photos, I would recall how he would work in his dark room to develop them, how everything smelled, the light… It was tactile and magical. So thank you guys for trying to bring back the tangible form of digital photos!
Too cute! I’m not sure any of my instagram photos are fantastic enough to print though!

Trey inspirational (get it? ha ha ha)
Totally doing this for Christmas presents!!!
For those of us who aren’t cool enough to have a nice printer, where do you guys suggested the best (& cheapest) place to get photos printed?? Especially 4×4 ones.
I wish my phone photos were worthy of printing 🙁 I can’t seem to capture great shots on my phone. They are always dark. Thanks for the inspiration though!
Have you heard of chatbooks?
Seems easier
This is such a good idea! I actually think I would print mine out and put them on display, but I am not sure how, because i have zero wall space left. :O
Much Love, AnnCates xx

Cute video, guys 🙂 I’m really enjoying the videos on your blog posts and I think you’re looking more and more comfortable. Nice to add another team member to the video as well!
Cute! But have you heard of chatbooks?! They are genius.
how did you get your pictures from your phone to your printer?
I really need to get better at remembering to print out my photos. I think I need to start keeping spare albums around so that I can’t give myself an excuse of not having all the supplies I need. 🙂
Looks like a fun project to do with friends! http://sadityinthecity.com
This is such a great cute idea! I’m definitely going to do this for mine and my daughters instagram accounts.
Looks like a lot of fun 🙂
Where in the world did you get the beee-utiful doggy blouse? I love it!
I like the idea!! I’ll try it!
This is great idea. Printing the instagram photos and putting them into an album.
I LOVE Kinsey’s new haircut. This haircut looks stunning on you, Kinsey!
I’ve been wanting to print my instagram photos for a long time; it’s the most visual way that I document my life, and the place where I try to have an online ‘album’ of thoughts and memories. This just might be the motivation I needed!
This is so lovely! I’ve been thinking about doing something with my Instagram photos for a while but had no idea what would look best. Will have to go on a hunt for one of these mini binders in the UK. Thanks for the inspiration! x
These are lovely! I’d love to make a similar album for my instax mini 8 photos 🙂
Very nice idea. I love taking photos and then making an amazing photo album of them.
Oh what an awesome and creative idea!
Love this idea! Instagram has become such a great photo album (digitally) and it’s nice to put them into a physically album! Love these album sizes!

This is a great idea!! Where did you find the 4×4 photo paper or did you buy a different size and crop?
Cheers!
Hi! You can get them printed at Walgreens or Target too 🙂 -Jacki
Hi Christen! That’s a great question. Email them to yourself from your phone so you can print them from your computer, or (if you don’t have a printer) you can get them printed somewhere like Walgreens or Target 🙂 -Jacki
Hi Amanda! It’s from Anthropologie 🙂 -Jacki
That’s our friend Lauren. It’s so cute! 🙂 -Jacki
Hi Danielle! You can also get them printed at Walgreens or Target 🙂 -Jacki
Hi Gracie! You can email them to yourself from your phone so you can print them from your computer 🙂 -Jacki

Hi Meghan! You can get them printed at Walgreens or Target 🙂 -Jacki
Hi Alexa! We used Canon’s pro luster paper and cut out the photos so they would fit 🙂 -Jacki
OH! I though that was Kinsey!
Yes, I just saw it in a comment above. Still super cute 🙂
There is also an app called PostalPix (I have it on my iphone so I’m not sure about android) and it connects to your photo albums on your phone and you can order 4×4 or 8×8 pictures (which are the perfect size for instagrams)straight from the app to be shipped to you. It’s easy and convenient if you don’t have a printer!
This is so perfect! I am in love!

There is a fantastic app called Chatbooks. They grab your Instagram feed and print all your photos in small square books. They’re only $6 per book, free shipping and they look super. The best part is, as you add more photos to Instagram, they automatically send you the next book. I finally got my entire feed printed and it is amazing. They come printed with a title on the book spine and numbered vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3, etc. So wonderful. And easy cheesy!
Chatbooks!!!! I can’t say enough good things. Go check them out.
Love love love this! I am definitely going to find time to do this 🙂

Ladies,
what is the software that you use to compile your photos and then print them out. I’m just wondering how you did that so it’s easier to cute or put them in the protector sheet.

Hi Chouree! We used photoshop to put multiple photos on each paper and then printed them with the Pixma printer. 🙂 We cut them out with either scissors or a paper trimmer. 🙂 -Jacki
So cool to gather with friends to do that.
Did you share somewhere how you print your square photos ?
Hi Nolwenn! We used photoshop to put multiple photos on each paper and then printed them with the Pixma printer. 🙂 We cut them out with either scissors or a paper trimmer. 🙂 -Jacki

These albums are really cute – I definitely think I will be purchasing one when they are available again. I’m running out of room for displaying photos, so an album will have to do! Thanks for the suggestion!

I have stacks of my Instagram photos already printed that were waiting for the day that the world caught up and made appropriate albums. Go figured they are sold out!
Does anybody know a good printer I can use for my Instagram that isn’t too expensive and where I can get it from? I’ve been meaning to print mine for ages but every printer I have seen has been way too expensive for me to afford or has gotten really bad reviews. Thanks for the help xx
Hi! You can get them printed at Walgreens or Target 🙂 -Jacki
Such a good idea!
There are lots of apps to inexpensively print Instagram pics. I use Postal Pix and LOVE it. I submit the order straight from my phone. Great service and prices.
Hello 🙂 Is this activity still running? It looks like so much fun…but I just saw this blog a few days ago…
Hi Chy! Yes it is 🙂 -Jacki
