Polymer clay is such a versatile craft supply. I have used it to create everything from mini bud vases, to shaped magnets, to these geometric necklaces. If you haven’t been inspired to try your hand at making polymer clay beads yet, get ready to be inspired! Not only are these necklaces super adorable, they come together relatively quickly and you will find yourself sporting your custom creation in no time.
Materials:
– polymer clay in several colors
– utility knife
– 6mm gold jump rings
– gold eye pins
– gold necklace chain
– gold lobster clasps (only needed if you are making a short necklace)
– pliers
– baking sheet and oven
Step One: Begin by sketching out your design. The more asymmetrical the better!
Step Two: Cut off sections of the clay and roll into logs, circles, or rings. Then cut an eye pin in half and use the pliers to slip the pin into the end of the clay.
Step Three: Use your utility knife to cut little pieces of the clay off to create a faceted look.
Step Four: Once you have all your beads formed, cut a 1/2″ piece of an eye pin and use the pliers to push the eye pins through adjoining pieces. Once all your clay pieces are connected or you have all your eye pins added, place your clay on a oven safe baking sheet (I use the back of my baking trays so that the tops remain food safe) and bake in a 275°F oven for 15-20 minutes. Let the pieces cool.
Step Five: Open the eye pins to connect all your pieces together to finalize your pendants, then use the jump rings and chain to create your necklace and hang your pendants on them.
I had so much fun making these necklaces and I love how each one is unique. Talk about statement necklaces! These would also be a great craft night project with your friends. Just imagine how many different shapes and arrangements everyone would make! xoxo. Kara

Working with clay is one of my favorite ways to mellow out! And I think it helps me artistic skills as an adult which could definitely use some work! This necklace would be such a cute gift for friends 🙂
This is so cute, and simple to make too! I think I’m going to make it as a present for my best friend, who’s just come back from three months abroad halfway across the world!
