You might already know this, but I'm a cabbage fan. To me, cabbage tastes very similar to my all-time favorite vegetable: brussels sprouts! Yum.
This side dish recipe is sort of like a roasted wedge salad. This would be fantastic next to a main course (meat or otherwise) or as a lighter lunch option (like I ate it, as you can see). Either way, if you are a honey mustard fan, you'll likely love this, so be sure to give it a try.
Honey Mustard Roasted Cabbage, serves 4 as a side or 2 as a meal.
1/2 head of cabbage
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup bread crumbs (I used Panko)
salt + pepper
In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons olive oil with the honey and mustard. Whisk to combine. The remaining 1 tablespoon of oil can be used to coat your baking sheet.
Slice the cabbage into thick wedges. You can reserve the rest of the cabbage for stir fry another night. Brush the wedges with the honey mustard glaze. Sprinkle on the bread crumbs. Then season with salt and pepper. Roast at 400°F for 35-40 minutes until the edges begin to turn dark brown and look crispy.
Eat your veggies, guys, especially if they are coated in honey mustard. Enjoy! xo. Emma

I’ve never been much of a cabbage person and that’s simply because I never know what all to do with it. Sure, there’s coleslaw, but what else!? This looks amazing and the honey mustard on it sounds delish! You’ve been sharing the most fabulous recipes lately, ladies! Love them!

Cabbage is such an under-rated vegetable. I eat it all the time. I love cooking cabbage with rice. Will definitely be trying this version out!
i need a rag or a wet nap, I’m drooling here…usually I take my roasted cabbage sans honey mustard, but doused in lemon juice and salt….
This looks soooo nice, definitely trying this. I’ve never thought about cabbage in this way… Thanks for the tip! x
This looks absolutely delicious! I love finding new ways to use my favorite veggies. The possibilities are endless! Roasting pretty much any veggie gives it such a rich, earthy flavor and I’m addicted to preparing them that way! I can’t wait to try it with the honey mustard 🙂 Thanks!
Looks delicious! do you think it would taste just as good with no honey or a honey substitute? I’m vegan so the honey wouldn’t really work for me.

I’m not much of a cabbage person, but this looks delicious! Maybe I’ll try it next time I have some extra cabbages.
That looks so good! I ate roasted cabbage not too long ago when I was on holiday in France and it was delicious. I should try to make my own as well!
This looks delicious Emma! I roasted purple cabbage a couple weeks ago and I ended up burning it. Thinking green is a better way to go so I can at least see if i’m buring it 🙂
I would like to try this! The honey mustard is what caught my interest. It’s genius you thought of something like this! I mean, who would have thought? 😉
Sincerely,

I am not really a cabbage lover, but I think I would try this

This recipe couldn’t come at a better time. Yesterday, I made your shrimp pad thai with cabbage instead of brussel sprouts. So I had some leftover and it went perfectly with my steak. It was so yummy. Thanks.
wow, I havent that idea before. Looks great and yummy..

Agree, cabbage and rice is just wonderful! Very under-rated for sure.

Sounds wonderful. I am a massive lemon lover. 🙂

Hmm. Honestly in this case I’m not sure of a good substitute. Normally I’d say maple syrup but I don’t think that would be all that good in this particular dish. You might just roasting with olive oil and adding a squeeze of fresh lemon instead for flavor (as suggested by a reader above).
Good luck my vegan friend!

Perfect! I always hate seeing fresh veggies go bad before I can get around to cooking them. It happens from time to time but always a real bummer.

We had roasted cabbage tonight! We use it instead of pasta with spaghetti sauce. Bake it the same way you do, with olive oil and spices Fennel is particularly good!
My husband will adore this! I had never thought to cook cabbage this way. Now I’m super excited and ready to try!
Never tried honey mustard… And, well, I must!

Dear ABM Team!
YOU ROCK!!! This app is soo FUN!!!
Thank you for all your work!

I love cabbage, but am never very creative with it. Usually just in salads, or I love to cut it in wedges and use it as chips for dips. I will def be trying this out soon!
I like to cook with cabbage a lot, but I have to admit that I don’t think I’ve ever roasted it like this. Can’t wait to give it a try!

So simple but looks delicious!
Oh yum! Honey mustard is one of my favourites. I just made some mustard collard greens a few days ago and this would be great to add to them.
Yum. I love cabbage AND honey mustard so this is a win win for me. Can’t wait to try this recipe.
Here in Israel we have something called Silan which is a syrup made from dates that tastes very similar to honey. Maybe that could work?
My husband and son love honey-mustard on chicken tenders. If I’m out of honey, I use Splenda instead. Can hardly tell the difference. They call it Mom’s Fake Honey-Mustard.
I just made this with maple syrup in place of the honey. It was fabulous.
