Make Your Own Stamp Cubes

I love having a little collection of handmade notecards to send out to far-away friends. Stamping is a pretty easy way to add flair to basic notecards, but I don't have much of a stamp collection—as if I have lots of extra space for more craft supplies! I thought making a couple of multi-purpose stamp cubes could be really fun, though. Add a little acrylic paint, and I have a new greeting card collection just like that! Plus storing away a couple of little cubes is easy peasy. Check out the easy instructions below!

-wooden cube (the size and amount is up to you)
-Pluffy clay (this is the lightweight polymer clay)
-waterproof adhesive

Tools:
-rolling pin
-craft blade
-carving tools
-baking sheet
-oven
-pencil (optional)
-parchment paper (optional)

Make these stamp cubes to add custom flair to notecards while saving space in your stamp storage- click through for instructions!Step One: Roll out the clay to be about 1/8" thick—it must be evenly rolled. Draw and carve out a design on the clay. Make sure you write the words backwards! You can use a graphite transfer method and trace the mirror image of a more complex design, if you like.

Step Two: Imprint the design with the edges of the cube and trim it out from the clay. Lay out the designs on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes in a 275°F oven. Weight the top of the clay with a second baking sheet to make sure the clay stays perfectly flat during baking.

Make these stamp cubes to add custom flair to notecards while saving space in your stamp storage- click through for instructions!Step Three: After the designs have baked and cooled, use a waterproof glue (I used gemstone glue.) to attach each design to a side of the wooden cube.

Step Four: Use a foam dabber to apply acrylic paint to your finished stamp. Make sure the paper or card you are stamping is lying on a padded surface to get the best results. A piece of foam, a towel, or a few stacked paper towels will work nicely for padding.

You can customize your stamp cubes in so many ways—It's a lot of fun, and kind of addicting! After I finished these stamps, I had the idea to make some quote bubbles too. What designs will you try?
