I already bought this course and LOVE it SO SO much! I studied art and illustration in college, but now, as a mom to little children and a small business owner, sometimes getting any creative juices flowing at the end of the day can be really really tough. I never really liked the idea of scrapbooking just because it seemed overwhelmingly expensive but I’ve always kept random scraps of fabric, ticket stubs and fortune cookie fortunes hoping I would one day find a use for them. The course sounds great. I’ve been wanting for a long time to get into more art based projects rather than just crafty ones but lacking confidence in my abilities has made it hard to know where to start.

I did the same just realizing how quickly living life goes.

When I read the blog, especially today, I see a bunch of strong women doing what they like, living by it. I can’t remember you guys ever said anything about this subject? I do have noticed you’re quite heteronormative, with a lot of “his and hers” and things like that.. do you think about things like this? Is equality between sexes important for you? I always wanted to make an art journal but was never really able to. Now that I work at a Joanns store I’ve realized how much crafts and things I want to do. Not to mention the availability to supplies is great!
Such a good idea to include a friend. Great way to have fun and stay on track with tasks, make art with a friend.
I have always been envious of someone who can put together their art journal in such a natural way that isn’t overthought. I don’t really know where to start. My personality leans toward being a perfectionist, so I need a lot of prompting to “just do it”. I would love to be able to watch someone in their authentic way to learn better ways of letting go and just letting the art flow 🙂 Thanks Ladies!!!

I was in the middle of my first Art Journaling Course (thanks Rachel and Elsie!) when I lost my best friend by suicide. Creating, working with my hands and sometimes not using words at all, helped me move forward, and it served as a reminder to turn to creativity during times of deep loss as well as happy, care-free seasons. When my husband and I miscarried earlier this year, I was surprised that I turned yet again to elements of creative expression, in writing and painting, logging the details of our lives in a way that felt sacred; it helped to mend the pain and also move me forward toward healing. I’d love to have access to this course to keep me motivated in the coming year, through whatever highs and lows lie ahead.
Thanks to you guys for such a strong focus on documenting our lives’ most significant moments.

The class looks intriguing. I see that Rachel uses fabric & many bits & pieces of whatever handy. I so like that since I’m retired & on a fixed income, trying hard to use what I’ve hoarded for 40 years. It’s an adventure to say the least. Her approach regarding her mother is somewhat like mine–I am trying to link & think about what my mom was doing at the age that I am now. Im a Journalism major at University of Oregon. I have so many pictures and little things that are very dear to my heart. I mostly have them on my computer and walls. I have little journals of my drawings and writings but if I had direction on how to put them all together in an art journal by taking this e-course maybe a new journal full of amazingness would be born. I would love to share this prize with my best friend who studies in Portland to be a teacher. Although we are not physically together we still connect in various ways.
