Hi everyone! It's Rubyellen from Cakies again, and this time I'm sharing the little switch-a-roo I did with my dresser knobs. Just a fast and simple way to give your dresser a little extra oomph. I have had this Ikea dresser for over 12 years now. And while it is still in great condition, a lot of the knobs slide off all the time when I pull the drawers open (this is even after using Gorilla Glue to fix it time and time again). Thus, it was time to give it a little change. I wanted to do something quirky and make all the knobs completely different, so I headed to the first place that I knew had lots of different knob options… Anthropologie! My husband and I went together, and this is what our knob process looked like: I selected one of every knob they had that would fit and gave it to him, he paired the ones he liked together, then he cut it down to 6 pairs (12 knobs total), and I looked at his selections (and the ones he didn't pick). I switched out one pair he chose for another pair I liked better, and then we were done. Tada!!! It is his room too, and his clothes are in half the drawers (okay, only 2 of them), so it was teamwork to pick out our new knobs. He gravitates to bolder colors and I gravitate to pastels, so the ones I switched out were two bold ones for two lighter colored ones.
Try This: Mismatched Dresser Knobs
All I had to do to make the change on our dresser was use a screwdriver to remove the old knobs, and then screw in the new knobs. Easy! And there you have it! It feels like a completely new dresser. I'm hoping this dresser continues to last us another 12 years!
All the knobs I chose were from Anthropologie, but I know Target has some knobs like these, and Home Goods has some of the same knobs that Anthro carries in a pack of 4 for $6.99 (even some of the ones I got!), which is a great deal. But I wanted 12 different knobs, so that option didn't work out for me, but maybe if you don't want that many different ones, I would say get the knobs from Home Goods. I'm sure your local hardware store would also carry a good selection of knobs for you to choose from. Or you might even be able to thrift some. Where would you look for knobs?
Thanks for letting me share our knob switch-a-roo with you! The knob changed inspired me to do a major purge in our bedroom, and it's been clean for two weeks straight now. Nothing like a little quick project to motivate you to get a space tidy. Don't you agree?! xoxo, Rubyellen

This is exactly what I wanted to do when I saw these door knobs in anthropologie!
There are no anthropology stores where I live, but i LOVED visiting one in NYC.
Such a lovely idea, and selection of colours đ

This is so simple and lovely. Thanks a lot for sharing and the knobs you have chosen are super cute too.
I love going to World Market for knobs. They have some similar to Anthro, but not as expensive.
World Market also has the same looking knobs… They are all sold individually as well! Looks super cute!!

Very cute! I simply adore your rug! Where did you find it??
I did this exact same thing 4 years ago for my dorm room at school – white Ikea dresser and mismatched Anthropologie knobs! Great minds think alike.
This is a very cute idea! Especially for people still in the IKEA furniture budget range.. or even not!
Hobby Lobby also carries a wide assortment of knobs similar to that of Anthropologie, and at discounted prices! I’m lucky enough to have one close by đ
Now I’m disappointed that I did an all matching look. At least they’re black/white plaid!
This is really cute.
Ohhh! So super cute, I am sure you could find some at second hand stores or antique stores too, or even paint them!

great idea and look!
i’ve been trying to redo my dresser for months.
I have been wanting to do this for so long but just can’t stomach the cost of all the knobs! It turned out great!

I have the same dresser and the same problem with the knobs. This is a fun and easy fix!
so cute and fun đ
oh i love it! i have been wanting to do this project everytime i find myself in anthropologie. i’m usually the girl standing in the sale section, admiring the lovely knobs… haha. i even bought some one time, and then they didn’t fit on this little TV stand I had đ So best to bring your old knobs, just in case.
thanks for sharing!

Totally adorable! I love Anthropologie for knobs:)
love it! how fun!
Cute! Anthro knobs are super cute but can be a little pricey — World Market usually carries the same ones / ones that are really similar, for almost half the price.
That is super cute! I don’t think I have anything with enough knobs to do this unfortunately. Always something for the future though!

Love this! Looks fantastic and I love knobs from Anthropology- it’s dangerous having it right around the corner from me…
I love this! I agree, World Market has some beautiful knobs.
Loving this idea! My daughter has a similar dresser and one of the knobs fell off. So, yep, the timing is perfect for this! đ

For the last five or six years, I’ve had two drawer pulls/knobs that are flowers on my dresser and the rest are stainless. I put my lingerie in the girly drawer! đ
What a great, easy DIY. I LOVE mis-matched knobs, and Anthopologie ones for sure. I like to check on the sale section at Anthro because occasionally they will have some of their knobs on sale for $2.95 so I snatch it up if I love it and save it for a project like this one. đ
That’s such a great idea! I was wondering what to do for my closet since both those knobs randomly broke.
Love this idea! Cute!

This is a great idea, I’ve been thinking about repainting my dresser’s drawers in different colors but I think these mismatched knobs would make the whole thing look even cuter! Thanks for sharing xx
Makes a great statement piece!

I did the exact same thing with an old mint dresser from my childhood just a few months ago! đ It really does change the whole look of the piece of furniture. I love it!
I too went to Anthropologie. Got about half from there, and the other half from Hobby Lobby which were way cheaper…

Now it’s much cuter, I was thinking about doing the same with mine.
When we did our kitchen remodel 6 years ago we went with white cabinets and glass knobs and pulls. I had both blue and green walls in the kitchen and wanted both blue and green glass knobs. Hubby thought I was nuts (“nobody does that.) I insisted and it looks great. I alternated colors and it just pulls your eye around the area. One of these days I’m going to get around to replacing the plain wood knobs on our light oak china cabinet/hutch with these, too, so the whole room will be like that.
I did this for my daughter’s dresser/changing table after seeing it on Rockstar Diaries. You can see my post here: http://wordsofwilliams.com/nursery-ideas/
Quirky and fun. Hobby Lobby has awesome knows, very reasonable too:-)
love love love this! x
What a lovely and simple idea to spruce up an old piece of furniture…i may have to steal it one day haha

I’ve always wanted to do this, but I still don’t even own a dresser! đ
World Market has great knobs for cheap! Some of the same ones as anthro. I got 6 for $12 for a dresser project this summer.
You make everything you touch fun and beautiful! Love the knob choices!
Lovely Idea!!!
I like Your Blog đ

Frankly speaking doing all the knobs with different elements will make it a new décor, but gives a clumsy look. Choosing similar color/pattern for each row would look better.
Love this idea, actually have done this around our home ourselves, including on some doors and closets!
