I grew up wearing converse, and this past year I got a major craving for a white pair. I found these gold pyramid studs with a flat base on Etsy, and I knew they would be so cute on a pair of chucks!
I usually avoid studs, because they really tear up your fingers trying to put them on with the traditional method. So with some heavy-duty glue, these flat back studs were my perfect solution. The DIY is simple. You'll need around 40 studs per shoe (unless your shoe size is drastically different- I wear a 7.5) and some E6000 glue. This glue is the toughest we've ever found. In a well-ventilated area (outdoors if it's nice!) glue your studs onto the outer edges of your shoe, working your way from the bottom to the top. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours before wearing them. Save a few extra studs in case you lose one at some point. If any are going to fall off they'll probably go in the first day or two! I've worn mine for four days so far and I only lost one stud. And luckily, it was a pretty easy repair job. 🙂
This technique can absolutely be used on leather boots, purses or backpacks too. I highly recommend it, as it is much easier on your hands and much less time-consuming than using traditional studs.TGIF! Elsie

Oh so cute! I have a pair of black Converse I don’t wear very often. Adding silver grommets to it would be so cute. Thanks for the idea!

They look great! I’ve even studded a cell phone case the same exact way. 🙂
They look great, but I don’t think I would ever add something to my converse. I love them just the way they are.

I use E6000 in alot of my framing (I frame insects) I like it because its a very sturdy glue, but gentel enough to use on clothing and thick stock paper. I do reccomend though to have a plate handy and pliers on the ready when you open up the tube after use, because that stuff, no matter how hard I try to keep my lid clean, there’s always run off! Problem is, I love the stuff so much! I can sit here and sing praises over E6000 and you can find it at walmart Michales and HobbyLobby!
Ok, I clearly need to find a life away from E6000!

So coooooooooooool! You’re great. I will show it to my little brother.
DIY his shoes by himself! Thanks for sharing.
I plan on making these for my 3 granddaughters. Are the studs you used antique brass or gold? They are perfect just like this. So I would like to do mine exactly as you have done.
I am also having this type of shoes but i didn’t use that i hate this type of shoes, after reading your article,i have to change shoe into pasting some stones and it looks good.
How beauty!! Lv DIY
