Remember when we made this cheesy beer fondue? Have you made it yet? Are you putting a fondue pot on your holiday wish list? Today we are celebrating the sweeter side of fondue: chocolate fondue! This particular recipe features dark chocolate and cherry liquor.
This would make an awesome dinner party dessert with friends. Or you could cut this recipe in half and have a romantic night in with chocolate dessert and maybe a little red wine. Just ideas.
Chocolate + Cherry Liqueur Fondue, serves 4-5.
12 oz dark chocolate
2/3 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons cherry liqueur (or red wine, or maraschino cherry juice for a non-alcoholic version)
1-2 tablespoons water
Add all the ingredients to your electric fondue pot and melt together over a low/medium setting. Use a wooden spoon to stir, as the mixture melts together. Once it’s completely melted turn the heat down to low.
You can serve this along side anything that sounds good to you! Here are a few ideas: apple slices, fresh berries, maraschino cherries, donut holes, pound cake or angel food cake (cut into small cubes), pretzel sticks, small cookies or even cooked bacon strips.
If you have left over chocolate, store in an airtight container for up to three days. You can reheat and pour over pancakes, ice cream or fresh fruit. Enjoy! xo. Emma

I love this idea. I inherited a never-used fondue set from my grandma, and this may be the perfect recipe to try it out!
I love fondue! I’m not too fond of dark chocolate, but I bet it would work great with milk chocolate.

This sounds and looks amazing! I am definitely giving this a try on our next date night in!
My husband thinks fondue is lame (he’s lame:)), but this would be such a fun thing to do for a girl’s night! And I don’t know why I would have never thought of using donut holes. Love that!
I love melted chocolate with anything, but I’ve never actually had cheese fondue; I’m sure it’s worth waiting for 🙂
Your pictures look delicious, I’m craving chocolate just looking at them x
Those measuring spoons are so cute! Where did you find them? 🙂
That just looks too good to be true.

I have always been afraid to try fondue. I feel as though I will burn the sauce and/or myself in the process. This is giving me an itch to try it though.
I definitely want a fondue pot now!
Fondue looks yummy, they are just brilliant for when friends are round and you don’t want to do anything fancy or attempt a complicated recipe 😉

Oh this looks perfect! I would try this with a different liqueur, maybe coffee or Irish cream (would need to make a vegan alternative, though), because those are my favourite flavours. Such a lovely idea, thank you for sharing xoxo
Christmas fondu was a holiday tradition in my house when I was in College. My mom decided that she had had enough with preparing big traditional meals especially since Thanksgiving was a not so distant memory at that point. She decided that we would have Christmas Fondu! We would always start with a cheese fondu, followed by a hot broth or oil fondu for a main course and topped off with a yummy chocolate fondu for desert!
Ooo, fondue! I wonder if my parents have a fondue pot somewhere in the basement…
Oh my god! That looks absolutely incredible! It looks just the thing for my birthday…
That cherry in the last shot looks to die for!
