At Home With Kelly Moore Clark

At Home With Kelly Moore Clark via A Beautiful MessWe are happy to welcome our pal Kelly Moore Clark to the blog today to share her lovely home with us! Love the photos above the bedLove the pops of yellow in this room"When we first bought our home almost 3 years ago, it was very very plain.  Everything was basic and needed updating, which was really exciting to me!  I would rather start with nothing and make it the way I want than move into a home someone else renovated.

When we began, there were about 8 different shades of wood throughout the house, cabinets, floors, ceiling, walls, it was pretty bad.  We repainted every surface in the house except the wood floors.  It was amazing how much more open, fresh and inviting the rooms became once we gave everything a coat of fresh paint and painted all the mismatched woods a beautiful white.  Our home isn't very large, a modest 1800sq ft.  It's just big enough that we don't feel crowded, but small enough that we are always close to each other.  When it comes to my decorating style, I don't really know what I'd call it.  I like modern, farmhouse, vintage and eclectic, and my house is a hodgepodge of all of these styles.  Most of my walls are a fresh white or crisp grey color, and I throw pops of color in with art, furniture, rugs, etc.  I love having a home that feels comfortable. I've worked hard to create a space that encourages my girls to be creative and have fun!" Sweet nursery"I love our white painted brick on the fire place.  Everyone told me not to do it and that I would regret it, but I don't!  I do especially love my kitchen.  The cabinets were not that nice when we moved in.  I had the option to completely gut the kitchen and get new cabinets or try and paint the old ones.  I had always wanted to paint cabinets a fun color, so this was the perfect opportunity.  If I didn't like it, no big deal, I could rip them out later.  Good news….I LOVE THEM!!! I painted the top cabinets a mustard color and the bottom avocado.  It really made the space whimsical and fun to spend time in, which I do!   Also, we made our own concrete countertops.  This was such a fun project that me and my husband did together.  They give the space a industrial feel, nothing too fancy.  They were really inexpensive and are super durable.  I blogged the project if you'd like to see!" Fun dining and kitchen areas"I have a huge painting on my dining room wall of a multicolored cow painted on an old door.  I love that it has a rural, folk feel, but the cow is modern with hot pink and yellow accents.  I think it represents me perfectly.  I purchased this painting in the hills of the appalachian mountains years ago while photographing an out of town wedding.  At the time, the asking price for the piece was way out of my budget, but I just couldn't get it out of my mind, so before I left to come home, I stopped by the little store and purchased it.  It will always be special to me." Love this look for a kid's room or guest roomLove this shared space"We have 3 little girls, so to say that our home is "lived in" is an understatement.  We spend a lot of time at home!  Our kitchen, living area, and dining area are all one big open space, so I love that whether I'm cooking, working on a project at the table or relaxing on the couch, we can all be together."
