To make the cocktail, in a shaker combine 1 cup cranberry juice, 1.5 ounces gin, the juice of half a lime and 3-5 thin slices of fresh ginger. Add ice. Shake, pour and serve!

I garnished with three rolled up slices of candied ginger on a stick. Here's Emma's recipe for candied ginger:

Easy Candied Ginger, makes about 1 cup

Needed: the reserved ginger slices from making ginger syrup and 1/3 cup sugar.

Rinse off the ginger slices and pat dry. Dip each in the sugar and place on a paper towel. Allow these to dry out for a couple of hours. Use to garnish drinks or other foods. You can just eat these too, but they are quite strong. You have been warned.Ginger Cranberry Martini (click through for the recipe!) Ginger Cranberry Martini (click through for the recipe!)
