We love porcelain berry baskets (like these from Anthropologie) but we never realized how simple they would be to make at home with just a little Sculpey and some paint. They're perfect for storing little things like office supplies, toiletries, nail polish and accessories. Here's how we made our own:Supplies: Sculpey Oven Bake Clay, X-Acto knife, clay knife, wax paper, and rolling pin.
1. Put a piece of wax paper on top of a flat rolling surface (we used a cutting board) and roll out your clay to about ΒΌ inch.
2. Cut out five squares per berry basket (one for the base and four for the sides). We made our larger basket with a base of 3×3 inches and our smaller basket with a base of 2×2 inches.
3. Use your X-Acto knife to make two rows of tall rectangular cutouts in each of the four wall squares.
4. Assemble your basket pieces by using little clay βsnakesβ where the joints of the pieces come together. Smooth out the clay snakes with the curved end of your clay knife to seal the joints and bake your finished basket according to the package instructions. Once the clay is cool, you can paint your baskets the color of your choice with acrylic paint.
*Please note: These DIY baskets are hand wash only. If you use non-toxic paint they would be safe to serve food in (party idea?!) but they should never be placed in the dishwasher. So cute, right? Next time you're playing with Sculpey you should try making your own. If you like this project, check out our Mini Planter project as well! xo. Elsie

Oh my word, this is the best idea for a bathroom dish. I’ve been searching for something to hold my little bathroom vanity do-dads, and it’s so simple to just make my own.

Love the idea but this had to be the worst tutorial I have read on this blog. Seems like it was thrown together in 5 minutes. More details needed.
