There are many different versions of Thai tea. Typically it's made with ceylon or black tea and flavored with star anise or tamarind. And almost always it's topped with sweetened condensed milk. These are flavors that I probably would never have thought to pair together. But it's awesome! And there are lots and lots of places that will serve iced thai tea with boba. Boba is totally easy to make at home, you can read our tips here. Thai Ice Tea (the EASY version)
5-6 quarts water
2 cold brew black tea bags (I used Lipton)
5 star anise
1/4 cup brown sugar
Combine the water and cold brew tea bags for 3-4 minutes (according to your packages directions). Remove and stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Add the star anise and refrigerate for 1 hour. In a glass add a heaping spoonful of prepared boba, if using. Fill the glass with ice. Pour in the ice. Add a heaping spoonful of sweetened condensed milk, or more to your liking.Serve with the condensed milk poured on top, or mix it in. Up to you. π Enjoy! xo. Emma

Gorgeous photos. This looks like a great beverage for this strange transition between summer and autumn.
Now I feel really boring because at the moment IΒ΄m drinking a banal herbs tea with honey, only the name is a bit interesting, because the name is as follows “clear head” π

These last two posts have been totally spot on for my mood, today. Jenga and boba! AH. Reading my mind.
Oddly enough, Jenga used to TERRIFY me as a child. I think the noise. I’m still pretty easily startled!

This looks really interesting! I think it would be really fun to make, although I’m yet to try the boba stuff
Sounds like the perfect drink for fall! I love boba, but I have no idea where to buy them. It makes drinks so fun!

It’s easy to make iced tea using regular tea bags, and it gives you the option of using higher quality tea. Just boil a half a mug of water, add two tea bags, and let steep for 3-4 minutes before icing down. The goal is to make a small amount of highly concentrated tea that will get watered down as the ice melts. We do this at the fair trade organic coffee shop where I work.
I need to try this. I buy my Thai Tea with boba from a tea spot here, and I could probably save a bit of money if I made my own.
