It's been a while since we went down to Commercial Street to take photos. The train tracks have been a photo shoot location for us for years. Elsie took some of my senior portraits in the same area where these photos were taken. We've been taking photos together for a long time now. Really I'm not sure what it is about trains that are so interesting (to us) in photos. I think part of it might be how historical they feel. Railroads have been an important part of our transportation system for over 100 years. We have lots of train tracks all over town. So I guess it also feels a little "Springfield" to us (even though obviously there are trains all over the country too). We love anything that feels like home/the midwest. :)

Such a beautiful dress Emma! You both look so lovely. I agree about trains being intriguing, I think it’s because each one contains so many people who might all be going to the same place, but for completely different reasons.

Yay for Sister Style! I love these posts π
Love how your outfits really reflect your different personalities! The reflection in the puddle of the first photo was great! Would you guys consider doing one where you both take the same dress or skirt or whatever and style it in your own way? I think that would be fun to see how each of you interpret one item.
Gorgeous outfit as always ladies. Nice how you still go back to those special places π X
Hi Girls!
Speaking of trains…
we spent the weekend in a bed and breakfast caboose! It is called Cruce’s Cabooses and it is located in Calhoun, MO. TOTALLY worth the drive. The couple did a rehab on two different cabooses. They are adorable! They laid track on their property and cranes brought each caboose to live. One is red and one is green. There is also a “hobo holler” with a campfire and hammock. It is very close to the Katy trail so we rode our bikes while we were there also. If you get the chance and want a weekend road trip….the website is crucescaboose.com.
I’m in love with Emma’s little crown! So pretty. And wonderful photos as always, ladies!

Love Elsie’s hair and Emma’s delicate headband – gorgeous!
I love feminine photos taken against a rougher setting. Beautiful photos!
You really don’t get big open train tracks like this in the UK, definitely need to visit the US one day! x

Such cute outfits, y’all (I’m especially smitten with both of your shoes)! You couldn’t have chosen better light to shoot in. I love how dramatic the sky is.
I know this is a weird question, but do you ever feel self conscious, constantly being on display for the blogging/internet world? Don’t get me wrong–you’re both incredibly beautiful and (imo) perfect–but I know sometimes I have really sucky body days (kinda like today…), and I was kinda wondering if you guys did, too.
Emma, I NEED your dress.
But seriously though.
Love this post! I love train the train tracks too. My neighbourhood in Toronto,is called “The Junction”, it’s where the railroads meet π
I love these photos. The first one of Elsie is my favourite. Something about the aviators + staring straight into the camera + the chevron pattern = amazing!
I’m having a blast with the self portrait challenge. It’s really gotten me to pick up my camera just for fun again, which is amazing! Thanks for prompting me to achieve one of my summer goals!

Our town is a HUGE train hub so we constantly have trains going by. We actually live right next to some tracks. You really get used to hearing trains go by all the time.

trains are a promise. a promise to travel. they connote to your wanderlust feeling and lead to a foreign world. and especially these that are so old have spent that promise for years to so many people. that’s why ancient wishes, dreams of leaving and travelling, maybe hopes for a better life are still hanging in that air.
lovely place!
Love both outfits, and both of your hair styles look great <3

Oh that green chevron tshirt would look awesome knitted….if anyone comes across a pattern let me know π
that’s a hairvine not a headband π
i wore a similar but fancier one to my wedding, you can twirl and twist is with your hair, it’s awesome π
Why do train tracks make for such good photos? I love the contrast between girly fashion and the industrial-ish background. I love the b&w and bet more of these would look stunning in b&w.
Ooh, I absolutely love Emma’s hair accessory and Elsie’s shoes!
I’m also really excited by the thought of taking photos by abandoned train tracks, I’ve no idea why! There’s a disused railway line near my parents house and I used to go walking/biking there as a kid. I’m not sure I’d ever be able to find it again as it’s been about 18 years since I was there, but this has inspired me to at least give it a go next time I’m in the area!

That dress is GORGEOUS! Great photos π

When I was taking a photography class at Drury University, I remember being so excited to snap a photo on those tracks right as a train carrying a bunch of Army tanks flew by! Those tracks have some magic in them for sure.
