It's been a while since we went down to Commercial Street to take photos. The train tracks have been a photo shoot location for us for years. Elsie took some of my senior portraits in the same area where these photos were taken. We've been taking photos together for a long time now. Really I'm not sure what it is about trains that are so interesting (to us) in photos. I think part of it might be how historical they feel. Railroads have been an important part of our transportation system for over 100 years. We have lots of train tracks all over town. So I guess it also feels a little "Springfield" to us (even though obviously there are trains all over the country too). We love anything that feels like home/the midwest. :)
You two are seriously the cutest and can I just say that you always have the best shoes and accessories! LOVE the shot of Elsie with just her face! So fierce and powerful. Thanks for sharing, I totally dig this series. 🙂

We are from a super industrial area in Germany- therefore we find so much beauty in industrial spots like old factories, coel-mines or trainstations!
You two really have a great sense of style. I love the details going on in Emma’s dress and Elsie’s top looks really good! Even your hairs look divine!
Love how your outfits really reflect your different personalities! The reflection in the puddle of the first photo was great! Would you guys consider doing one where you both take the same dress or skirt or whatever and style it in your own way? I think that would be fun to see how each of you interpret one item.

Speaking of trains…
we spent the weekend in a bed and breakfast caboose! It is called Cruce’s Cabooses and it is located in Calhoun, MO. TOTALLY worth the drive. The couple did a rehab on two different cabooses. They are adorable! They laid track on their property and cranes brought each caboose to live. One is red and one is green. There is also a “hobo holler” with a campfire and hammock. It is very close to the Katy trail so we rode our bikes while we were there also. If you get the chance and want a weekend road trip….the website is crucescaboose.com.

Our town is a HUGE train hub so we constantly have trains going by. We actually live right next to some tracks. You really get used to hearing trains go by all the time.

There’s a disused railway line near my parents house and I used to go walking/biking there as a kid. I’m not sure I’d ever be able to find it again as it’s been about 18 years since I was there, but this has inspired me to at least give it a go next time I’m in the area!

When I was taking a photography class at Drury University, I remember being so excited to snap a photo on those tracks right as a train carrying a bunch of Army tanks flew by! Those tracks have some magic in them for sure.
