The dogwood trees in our little hometown are in full bloom finally! I love all the delicate white (and sometimes pink) flowers. I guess it's kind of funny how the dogwood blooms are, in my mind, a sure sign that Spring is on it's way. While autumn is marked by the deep orange and red leaves that start to fall off every tree around town. It's the little things, no?
But if you can't tell from the trees, then I'm sure you can tell from our (maybe too) optimistic outfits that we're excited for warm weather!Elsie's Wearing: Purse/Gift Shop Brooklyn, Shirt/American Apparel, Skirt/Vintage, Hat/H&M, Sandals c/o ModCloth.
Emma's Wearing: dress/H&M, lace overlay/UO, shoes c/o ModCloth.

I feel the same way! But I think those are pear trees LOL
LOVE the denim skirt!
You girls are both so absolutely beautiful! I love that you’re sisters, but you both look so strikingly different. I’m the same way with my sisters! Love your outfits as well, and thanks for the styling inspiration!!
beautiful! The trees where I am are turning white and pink too!

The weather finally starts to get a little bit better where I live, can’t wait till everything is in full bloom! Craving spring really badly. Lovely photographs!

Beautiful!
Those trees all all over campus, and I LOVE walking to class now! Also, the matching shoes are adorable.
Oh my god these are so beautiful. I love these photos.
I think those are Bradford Pears — do they smell horrible? When I was a kid we had them in our neighborhood and they smelled TERRIBLE! I am so glad to be back in the South with real Dogwood trees 🙂
I love the lace overlay, great outfits!
If those blooms smell bad, they’re definitely flowering pear. Dogwoods have much bigger blooms – more like the size of a gardenia.

The trees are gorgeous, but that skirt is absolutely awful. SO sorry, but I have to be honest!
Gorgeous scenery!!

I’m actually sad winter is going away! We never really got colder weather here in Florida, so I’m just a little disappointed 🙁 80 degrees all winter… It’s been getting closer to the 90s the last few days!

You are so wonderful
so sweet! it is nowhere near warm enough to be wearing sandals here in the UK yet but I’ve been wearing a jacket instead of my thick wool coat recently so I’m pretty pleased with that!

Indeed, if they smell terrible, they’re Callery (likely Bradford) pears. Brandford pears are often used as street trees because street trees’ life is kind of difficult, and Bradford pears can survive just about anything (and often “escape from cultivation” and outcompete native species). If they smell all right, then they’re some sort of (non-pink-blooming) cherry. My way of telling pears from cherries is by their leaves, which come in after the flowers…
Dogwood flowers have very distinctive 4 largish petals, and the flowering dogwood is native to a large chunk of eastern U.S. I think they bloom a little later than Callery pears. My guess is that you have some flowering dogwoods in your neck of the woods as well.
Anyway, I love your blog! I apologize for the nit-pickiness. I’m amused that I’m not the only one.
So cute! Love Emma’s dress, and love your hat, Elsie!
Spring blooms are the best because they’re so fleeting. Things that are temporary are so bittersweet…like vacations.
ABsolutely loved the photos with the bloomed trees in the background although I wasn’t terribly in love with the first style I thought the second black dress complemented things nicely.
Agree! But I think those are bradford pear trees. I know dogwoods too well!
I swear, Emma just gets prettier and prettier.
You are both so lovely. <3
supercute!
Emma’s eyes look so beautiful in the first picture!
the denim skirt is so cute 🙂

Here’s what dogwood blossoms look like: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aK4Y1HNjv_A/T6GSWEVdvTI/AAAAAAAACLA/lk0TdkTZwRU/s1600/dogwood.JPG They are usually pretty big, and often sit like little discs rather than in clusters.
Now I’m all curious about what those trees really are! My first guess was some sort of ornamental cherry, but there are so many votes for pear that I wonder.
You both are beautiful. (And hey, I love the vintage skirt!)
Pretty girls. Wonderful picture! Thanks for sharing!

The top picture of Emma is absolutely gorgeous!!
You both look so gorgeous! And you have the prettiest freckles! I can’t wait for warm weather to come and stay, either. Our trees over here bloomed a few weeks ago and some of them are already losing their blossoms, but it’s still wavering between cold and rainy, and warm and sunny.

Pretty photos! And lovely sentiment. But those are definitely Bradford Pears, which are invasive. Dogwoods are native to the eastern US and are ecologically awesome.
Just to let you girls know for next year, bradford pears bloom first then dogwoods. 🙂 You live and you learn!(I’m just old)
Those aren’t dogwoods!
I adore the last picture, you guys look super cute!
We have dogwoods at home, a few that we had to put in ourselves. I miss them when I’m here at school! Those are quite a bit “hairier” than the ones I know, though… 🙂

Our trees bloom in May. And thank god for that. It’s still winter here. It’s a long one. One year we even got a frost in May so the bloomed and died right away. Saddest year ever.
LOVE the feeling and look of spring here!
You both look lovely as usual. I ADORE the clutch/purse… super cute!
Wishing you a lovely day!
xoxo
@Eva – I think the trees in full bloom are beautiful, but I for one do appreciate your knowledge sharing as someone not from the area.
I am so going to dye my hair like yours Elsie. Beautiful!
Yeah, I’m totally in love with that lace jacket. And my eternal question… Does it come in black?
I love these photos
Very, very beautiful
So glad I’m not the only one reading this for the flowers! And yeah, gotta agree on the whole pear thing…Husband covets callery pears, from a distance….snowy white in spring, flame red foliage in the fall. They are winners, even if stinky!

aaargh so jealous! We had a snow storm on Friday (April 12 can you believe it) and now finally the sun is shinning and the snow is melting…..we’re hoping for some green to start sprouting in about 2 weeks (winter here is soooo long). The trees behind you are gorgeous!
You’re outfits are cool. That is what I love about the warm weather. The beauty reveals itself. Also, can’t help but admire that tree. So beautiful.
