This week the weather has been nuts! Yesterday I stepped outside in the early morning to go running and was greeted by sleeting rain. I promptly added my thickest coat to my running outfit, hood up and everything! Today I’m wearing sandals and a light jacket. !!!!!!!! Even on the cold days, I’m dreaming of summer vacations, filled with tank tops, swim suits and nerdy beach towels. I need to put together my summer reading list soon. I’m just starting “Gone Girl” and am hooked. Definitely recommend, though it’s not a light summer read — try Mindy Kaling’s “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” for something to make you smile 🙂
First of all Emma, love the dress so much and the sandals too. The weather here in SE Pennsylvania has been crazy too. For book recommendations, I would definitely pick up “Pigeons in a crosswalk” by Jack Gray (of CNN). I haven’t started on it yet but I have read nothing but positive reviews on it.

I know this may sound very stupid but I want to know what program or software you use to create your wishlists. Do you import your pictures into indesign or photoshops?
Oh my gosh I have a Batman crazy boyfriend and he would go mad for a Bat-logo towel! I’m off to order this for him straight away – there will be a young chap in England soon that is very grateful for this post!!!

For a fun summer reading list I’d really recommend “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Truman Capote. Most people I know unfortunately only know it as the movie, and they miss out on so much by not reading the novella! I’d also recommend anything by Agatha Christie, she truly is the greatest crime writer ever. “5 Little Pigs” (or in the US “Murder in Retrospect”?)is one of my personal faves.

I think you’d enjoy Falling in Love for Life by Barbara Cooper. I found it on Anthropologie’s website. Barbara is 93 year old woman who shares advice and wisdom from her 73 year marriage to her husband Harry. It’s a heart warmer. Perfect engaged summer reading 🙂
What a surprise to see the Design House Stockholm mugs on the blog! I have the same without handles – definitely worth the money. They’re my favorites and make me happy each morning while sipping my coffee.
Those sneakers are awesome! I like the idea of the chunky wedge sneaker that everyone’s wearing, but this is a much more manageable/flattering shape for more people. And it’s affordable! Great find!
The Divergent books by Veronica Roth are fantastic, if you like dystopian young adult novels. Like the Hunger Games except the story gets better with each book.
I give you big (actually huuuge) credit for putting on a raincoat instead of sneaking back inside and cuddling up on the couch! Davd Sedaris is one of my favorites. Boy Kings of Texas by Domingo Martinez. It reminded me of David Sedaris. I read it on the beach in Thailand and was laughing out loud/crying simultaneously. A must read!

HOLY TOWEL BATMAN! This would pair well with my Souxsie and the Banshee’s T-Shirt. (If you know this reference I love you forever, if not I still love you but look up Batman Returns – the 1992 one).
Alice Munro! Her short stories are the best. I love reading short stories, especially on a lazy day at the beach.
There’s also a Swedish author I would like to recommend, Karin Tidbeck. Her collection of short stories ‘Jagannath Stories’ is available in English, and they are just so weird and absurd and strange and mesmerizing and unlike anything else I’ve ever read. Think Alice in Wonderland. Think Edgar Allan Poe. Think… I don’t know what. Just read!
“I Was Told There’d Be Cake” by Sloane Crosley is another funny book for short memoirs that is a similar style. If you like Sedaris I think you’d like that one too!

Michael Pollan is amazing! You have to read ‘In Defense of Food’ if you haven’t yet. So eye opening and he is a fantastic writer 🙂
