10 Things I Love Sunday

Can I just say that the photo above is my favorite photo ever!?! Mom/Baby matching is just too fun. That place is an awesome donut/cronut place here in Nashville called Five Daughters Bakery and their vegan donuts are so good! They also have a donutcam so you can see if they are already out of donuts before you go … genius! Here’s what I’ve been loving this first week of April (yay!):

1. I adore little matching sets like this for babies/kids and that print is just too cute! I also would love to get this for Lola for her birthday—I love a good unicorn print!

2. Been playing this vinyl all week to bring all the warm weather vibes into the house—it’s the ultimate summer album! Definitely going to be playing that at our ’60’s cookout party this summer.

3. We are planning a trip to visit my sister and her new (totally adorable!) baby boy Beckett later this month and I can hardly stand the wait! He’s the second baby on my side of the family, so now Lola will have a playmate once he figures out what playing actually is (haha!). Seeing how Lola started to notice and interact with other babies around 9 months gives me hope that they can be pals starting around Christmastime …

4. This mascara has been my favorite naturally-derived organic mascara for a while now, but I started curling my lashes again now that they are getting stronger (I’ve been applying this to them at night from a mini mascara tube), and this mascara looks extra good lately with the added curl step! Some natural mascaras tend to flake off during the day as you wear it, but I’ve never had that problem with this brand and I like the fat mascara brush it comes with (I’m a “fat brush girl” when it comes to mascara). Make sure to check our Instagram stories this week because I’m going to give away some of this mascara for you guys to try too!

5. I don’t know if there is such a thing as a spring fur coat, but maybe this is it if there is? We’ve still got some pretty chilly days in the forecast, so I say sign me up!

6. We realized this week that somehow we missed a whole season of Silicon Valley (the HBO show about a tech startup company), so we felt like we hit the binge lottery by accident and have been catching up to the present episodes. Don’t you love it when that happens?!

7. I’ve never used a lip product like this before, but I LOVE it! The texture is like a cross between a lip gloss and a mousse and it feels divine. They have a more understated nude shade that I’ve been using at night after I wash my face and it feels like a luxurious moisture mask for your lips.

8. To add some new faces to my T-shirt collection, I ordered this champage tee this week and I got a bunch of cute options from this brand (this shirt says everything about my personality). I tend to do a lot of tees knotted up high with high-waisted jeans these days, and I think that will definitely be something that continues for the rest of the year as well …

9. If anyone feels like making me a treat, these vegan no-bake Oreo cheesecake bites look amazing!!

10. Adjusting your relationship with your partner after a new baby is no joke (it’s hard work, people!) and so I went back to this book that I read when we were first engaged eight years ago to find out if I still had the same top ways that I want to be loved by Todd. They talk about each of the ways people show and want to be shown love (that varies from person to person) and you take a quiz-type thing to find out which ones you respond to best. It was so helpful for me to recognize mine and to know Todd’s back when I first read it, so I wanted to see if ours have changed at all in the last eight years. My top one is Acts of Service followed closely by Quality Time, which I’m pretty sure is about the same as it was back then. So, basically, going grocery shopping for me or taking me out for one-on-one coffee dates are a lot higher on my list than trying to make out if you want to do something nice for me! The bigger point though is to know what the other person’s categories are so you can both love each other in a way that they receive best and not just in a way that’s easiest for you to express.

If you are looking for some new goodies to love, we added a bunch of new things to our wishlist page so find yourself a treat—you deserve it! We are in our last month with Lola before she has her first birthday, which is literally insane to me, so I’m trying to savor every second of her “babyness” before she turns into a toddler at some point. We decided to do a small family party instead of a big thing this year, but some of my family wants to come down and visit near her birthday to celebrate. So that will be extra special for her, too! xo. Laura
