Here is a super silly but fun idea for a Halloween party: Garnish guest’s drinks with critter cubes! These are ice cubes that look like they have little green bugs in them. These are a quirky surprise to add to sodas or cocktails. Here’s how to make your own:
The critters are made from green olives with rosemary “legs.” Use a toothpick to poke three holes along each side of an olive. Then insert a rosemary sprig into each hole. Place the olive bug in an ice cube tray, fill with water and freeze overnight.
As the ice melts you will start to have hints of olive and rosemary flavors in your beverages. This is excellent for martinis. But maybe not the best for, say, Dr. Pepper. Just FYI. xo. Emma

A rosemary martini sounds delightful! A kalamata olive would look more bug-like in here I think…but maybe TOO bug-like!
These are so cute!!! I love the halloween vibe π

Just love that idea!
These are so cute! If you wanted to make them less cloudy, boil the water before putting it in the ice cube trays and the ice will be clear as glass. I wonder what other little critters you could make from edible pieces. . . . hmmmm….
I love this idea… Your ideas are great!

Gross! Dr. Pepper/Olive/Rosemary Ice Cubes! However for a martini or if you used half vodka and water so it would freeze, it would make an nice addition to an adult beverage.
Cute idea, I will definitely be trying that this season π

Ooo, I saw these eyeball ice cubes in the Martha Stewart Halloween magazine! Very cute how you turned them into critters.
So adorable!
Thinking that the olives could look like scary eyes too(?). Super cute and funny!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and these are too cute to pass up, what a fun idea! I have been trying to think of fun ways to make drinks for my Halloween party this year and can not wait to try these. Do you have any suggestions for how to modify it for other kinds of cocktails that may not mix well with the rosemary flavor?
this looks epic for bloody marys! yum.
How about using gummy sweet insects like worms for the kiddies? Could be adorably cute and much more to their taste.
What a great idea, not only for halloween. Do it without the rosemary and it goes with martini any other day.
What a cute idea! I love rosemary and olives, and think these would be perfect in tomato juice. Erm, well the flavors would, but maybe that would all look just a little too creepy all together!
Wow! must try that and see how good it is!
Nice blog! (:

These are so fun! I love Halloween – it’s one of my very favorite holidays. I also love the pictures of your sweet pug, will he be dressing up? We have a two-year-old Boston, and just bought him his Halloween costume (it matches my parents’ lab):
