A Backyard Bonfire: Frozen Hot Chocolate

Frozen hot chocolate 2Frozen hot chocolate 1This past summer Elsie, Rachel and I got together for a little backyard bonfire party! I get a little sentimental looking through these pictures because recently Rachel and her family up and moved on us! We have been missing the Denbow family, but we can't wait to visit them—maybe this summer! We'll be sharing a number of cute projects from this backyard bonfire. First up is a sweet and cold drink; frozen hot chocolate.Frozen hot chocolate 3Frozen Hot Chocolate, makes 3 small servings, recipe adapted from here.

Needed: 6 ounces of your favorite chocolate (we used dark chocolate), 1 teaspoon espresso powder (optional), 4 teaspoons hot cocoa mix, 4 tablespoons powdered sugar, 3 cups milk, 5-6 cups of ice and marshmallows to garnish (you can toast them or sprinkle mini ones on top).

In a pan melt the chocolate over low/medium heat. Whisk in the espresso powder, cocoa mix and powder sugar until well combined and no lumps remain. Allow this mixture to cool off. In a blender combine the chocolate mixture, milk and ice; blend until well incorporated. If you want to make this a milkshake instead you could use ice cream in stead of milk and ice—up to you! Garnish with marshmallows and enjoy before it melts away!Frozen hot chocolate 4Enjoy these and get excited for the warm weather days ahead! xo. emma
