Key Lime Martini

My summer to-do list is beginning to wind down. And I am starting to think about autumn—daydream really. If you are a summer-loving kind of gal and you’re sick of all us autumn-lovers starting in on the season too soon, I get it. Or at least I empathize—but clearly I fall in the latter group. (Get it? I fall. Ha ha.)

If you want to hang on to summer, or especially summer flavors a little longer, might I recommend you shake yourself a key lime martini. It’s refreshing, perfectly sweet and decadent enough that it makes a great treat for a Friday or Saturday night (or Monday, I won’t judge you).

As the name suggests, key limes are preferred here, but you can honestly use any variety of fresh limes. This key lime martini will be delicious regardless.

Just four simple ingredients, shake well with ice, and you’re in business. Feel free to shake two servings at once if you have a friend of significant other who is mourning the end of summer with you. 🙂

Admittedly, I am a major citrus freak, but I honesty think this key lime martini is a cocktail that anyone can enjoy. Happy cocktail shaking! xo. Emma

Key Lime Martini

Course Drinks
Cuisine American
Keyword key lime martini, martini
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce lime juice fresh
  • 2 ounces vodka or gin
  • ½ ounce cream of coconut
  • ½ ounce cointreau or other orange liqueur

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Be sure to shake the cream of coconut bottle well before using.

  2. Then, shake up the cocktail until the cup becomes very, very cold in your hands. Strain into a martini glass or coupe.

Recipe Notes

I prefer vodka to gin on this particular martini recipe as I think it just works better with the flavors and creaminess of this drink. But if you're a major gin drinker or that's what you have on hand, that will work well too. It is a martini after all.
