Elsie and I are starting to plan some spring/summer back-yard parties for this coming season. It's going to be my first summer in my house (just became a first time home-owner this past autumn). We plan to host a few little get togethers, I may build a small fire pit for s'mores. Who knows! We decided to try creating a few different lemonades, gearing up for the season. Once you have made your own lemonade (make your own from sugar, water and lemons or you can use a concentrate or store-bought kind as your base) you can add in all sorts of flavors to dress them up to you or your guests tastes. Here's what we made:
Grapefruit Lemonade- to a large pitcher of lemonade add in 2 cups of grapefruit juice and fresh slices of grapefruit. Give this one a taste when your done-as you may want to add more sugar if you feel it's too tart.
Strawberry and Basil Lemonade- to a large pitcher of lemonade add 2-3 cups of chopped strawberries and a handful of chopped basil. The longer this lemonade sets the more the basil flavor will infuse with the beverage!
Cucumber Mint Limeade-to a large pitcher of limeade (or lemonade) add one cucumber, thinly sliced, and a handful of chopped mint leaves. This one is similar to the Strawberry Basil lemonade in that the mint flavor will become stronger the longer this beverage sets.
Blackberry Lemonade- to a small pitcher of lemonade add 1 cup of slighlty mashed blackbarries. You can smash these by hand or with a spoon, but the more you smash them the more the color will infuse in your lemonade-pretty!
Happy Monday! emma + elsie

Thanks so much for sharing these! I can’t wait to try these out this summer, for 2 reasons. 1.) They look so good. 2.) I got this amazing pitcher last summer in Guatemala: its yellow, made out of recycled glass!

I really love haveing big pitchers of fun drinks out at parties. Makes everything feel more special, and it’s SO much easier than trying to make individual drinks.

looks so good!!!
I’m enjoying the first Spring in my new house, and soaking up the awesome patio weather (now is the best time to be outside in Austin). The most fun part of owning your own space is getting to go wild planting things – I’m sure you’ll enjoy this too!
I have a feeling these lemonades will all be made soon 🙂 Maybe some mint or basil in the grapefruit one would be tasty too!
These look wonderful! I’ll have to make them once the backyard BBQ season starts up!
Mmm! These all look so pretty and spring-like. Cucumber-mint limeade sounds especially delightful. Ooh– you could even add in some gin and have a pitcher full of cucumber gimlets! Mm, now I know what we’ll be bringing to jazz up our summer campout evenings!
I’m salivating just looking at these. Not sure which to try first!
great idea. i wonder how flavorings would work in sun tea.

A cheap way to flavor lemonade that my boyfriend and I love to do in the summertime is to buy fruit teas (Celestial Seasonings works great!) and put 2-3 packets in a 1/2 gallon container of lemonade. Let it set in the fridge for a few hours, remove the packets, and you have a delicious, refreshing flavored lemonade! (Mix in a little vodka for a fun summer cocktail!)
Thanks for these flavor ideas too… can’t wait to try them!
Oooh, as soon as the SF fog lifts I am trying these! Last summer I got hooked on stirring some Olallieberry (or blackberry) jam into sparkling lemonade. Mint sprigs optional!
So pretty to look at and, I bet, so delicious to taste! Love the unique idea of adding fresh basil.
Loulou
Stop making me want summer so badly! All of those sound and look fantastic, I can’t wait to go wild black berry picking and make that lemonade.

I’m currently a travelling Aussie about to return home in two months and this has made me so excited! Homemade infused lemonade and beaches, here I come! <3
You must invest in a water infuser. Or DIY one! Infusing water with cucumber and then making lemonade out of the cucumber water– HEAVEN!
oh my goodness, all of these look incredible!
These look scrumptious. Also love your backdrop…!
This is such sweet imagery. Spring is so close I can feel it, and warm nights on the porch drinking some lemonade are what happiness is made of.
since i have mint in my backyard, my favorite one is some sugar, just 1 or 2 spoons, a lot of ice cubes, mint that you can squeeze with the other ingredients, real orange juice of 2 oranges, sparkling water and orange slices… i know … it´s not limonade, but it´s so fresh and delicious, and a little sweeter than limonade!!!! thanks for sharing girls!!! and congratulation for being the best diy blog!!! i love your blog!!!
sorry for my english! i am from argentina !!!!
Very great ideas! I love adding different things to lemonade to create new and exciting flavors!! 🙂

What a great idea! These look delicious, easy to modify with ingredients on hand, and they’re pretty! Summer, here I come! Thanks for sharing!
These all look delicious! Yumm! Have you ever tried rose-lemonde? The ingredients are rose-water (it’s the by-product of the production of rose-oil), lemons, sugar and water. I usually squeeze one lemon, add 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1/2 liter of water, plus 2 caps od rose-water. I think it would be nice to serve it with ice cubes with mint-leaves. It’s delicious and refreshing! 🙂
Congrats for your blog!
Kriszti

Hi! I’m a FAN! the LiberTea sounds good-like the Long isnald Tea! Gotta watch how many your drink! It sneaks up on you! Its summertime so its a nice way to cool off on a hot sunny day! OH YEY! Have a good one!1
Haaaaa I wanna try that. In France we don’t drink lemonade so much, it’s not something we do for garden parties or barbecues. We often just buy sodas and that’s a bit sad 🙁
I’ve a big garden party next week, I’ll try to make lemonade all by myself. I’ll tell you if it has success.
Has anyone made these or do you just think that it sounds good?
