Oui Fresh Beauty Box – September Unboxing

Happy (almost) fall!!!! The September Beauty Box is here and it is such a great month. We have three full-sized items (and two really big deluxe samples) this month—valued at $70 (over 3x the cost of the beauty box).

We’re finally into the start of fall—my absolute favorite season (and a lot of people on team ABM/Oui Fresh) and we have some really special new things for you this month. First thing, the Beauty Box is PINK now! We did a little poll and it seemed like everyone was ready for a little switch up. Second is the announcement of a collaboration with one of our favorite brands that all of our subscribers get this month …

Nail Lacquer in Smells Like Teen Spirit by AILA x Oui Fresh — value $14

Introducing a new nail polish shade from AILA x Oui Fresh! This is our second shade in collaboration with AILA—we love this brand so much and feel this nail polish formula delivers all of the performance while omitting some of the most toxic ingredients found in conventional nail polishes. The shade is a gorgeous cream-based dove grey and we named it “Smells Like Teen Spirit”—because you know we had to keep our ’90s theme going, as we love Nirvana forever and ever, and this color gives us low-key grunge/glam vibes. Luminous Lip Oil in “Crimson Breath” by One Over One — value $28

This REVELATION of a hybrid gloss/balm, Luminous Lip Oil, is from minimalist beauty brand One Over One. A liquid lip hydrator that is really unique, beautiful, and great for your lips is just what we need this time of year. We had an Instagram vote at the end of the spring to see which shade you all would want to see in the box and this shade, “Crimson Breath,” was our winner! Its warm berry tint is a kiss goodbye to summer and a sweet hello to autumn. Jen, the owner of One Over One, not only oversees all the formulations for the line, but also designs all of their gorgeous packaging!

UltraShine Moisture Shampoo by EVOLVh — value $8 

UltraShine Moisture Conditioner by EVOLVh — value $8

Very excited to include this amazing hair care brand, EVOLVh, in the box this month. It seems that haircare is one of the more difficult products to switch from conventional to non-toxic, but EVOLVh really makes it their mission to have something for lots of different hair types, and their styling range is really impressive as well (leave-in conditioners, styling polishes and balms, etc.). Here, we’ve included the UltraShine duo of shampoo and conditioner in a 2-ounce travel size—great for all hair types, color safe, and helps to balance pH levels. The function of these products is really amazing—I feel like I have salon hair after I use it. This line came to me at a time when my hair was really thirsty, dry, and a little straw-like (I hadn’t been to the salon in awhile) and it helped tremendously to smooth everything out and make my hair a lot more shiny. I also love how manageable my hair is, even though it’s really soft.

There are tons of great ingredients in these products—lots of herbs, fruits, vitamin C, and an ingredient called SmartScent. We talk a lot about steering clear of the ingredient “fragrance” or “parfum,” and the reason is because companies often hide filler ingredients within their fragrance components. However, fragrance, when it’s created safely, isn’t always a bad thing (science in beauty isn’t a bad thing either, in fact, it can be amazing—you just have to be aware of what ingredients are and what they do). SmartScent was created for those who have allergic reactions to natural fragrances, like essential oils and fruit and plant extracts. We have been getting some feedback on this from subscribers and readers that have this issue, and are excited to include something that’s safe to use (and smells AMAZING)! These products, while non-toxic, will be very close to what you may have been used to with conventional products—they suds up, they smell great (and the smell lingers on your hair after you style it), but they’re safe and great for your hair (and scalp)!

Luxe Liner in Absolute Brown by Aisling Organics — value $12

I love a good black eyeliner, but sometimes you need something a little softer, which is where this deep brown comes in. This has been my go-to lately and is perfect for bronzey, start of autumn smokey eyes. I like to “warm” this pencil up on my hand a little bit so it will soften a bit and glide a little easier across my eyelid, but this is a great eyeliner with excellent staying power. I like to use this on my upper lid and also starting at the outer corner of my bottom lashes and working halfway across as a light bottom lash liner. Then I’ll use a small brush to smoke out the bottom a little bit, too. This item is a total classic and for those of you who have been asking about a pencil liner, this one is awesome!
