Tonight I spent some time ordering lots of photos from our engagement session in black and white. I am so excited to hang them on our walls! I still have a lot more printing to do. Newlyweds… how long did it take you to print your wedding photos, make albums, hang photos etc? (eek!)

*Photos by Arrow and Apple

  • The 4th photo is my fav – such a cute idea! We got married in October 09, so for that following Christmas we ordered small shutterfly photo albums for our parents, so we ended up ordering on for us as well. As far as photos on our wall…we never ordered any, but my sister in law framed three for us as a gift. We still haven’t gotten around to getting a NICE photo album…2 years later! Oops!

  • We’ve been married three months and I’ve just started sharing pictures on Facebook, lol. We have ten printed that my father-in-law did for us, but we haven’t done any ourselves yet. I have picked out a few that I want to frame, though πŸ™‚

  • i got married in 2008 and i never made my album. i printed out the pictures and bought TONS of scrapbooking stuff but never even worked on it. ah! maybe i’ll make that a new goal.

  • We still haven’t! my photographer gave us a book, but that’s all! OOOPs we keep planning toblow them up but we end up filling our walls with vacation pics instead!

  • You’re on it! we have 1 photo framed in the one nice frame we got as a wedding present. If we ever renew our vows I want to do something special and fancy! I was 20 when we got married(at the courthouse) and didnt really even care to have a reception! It felt weird to consider ourselves newlyweds when we were on our 6th year and had been living together for 4. I have to say though Ed stepped up and became an even better husband than a boyfriend and being married is definitely the best.<3<3

  • heh – I’m coming up on my 4th anniversary, here, and we don’t have *any* photos up. Or in an album (though I’ve done a few scrapbook pages here & there…). We finally framed a silly dress-up photo we got done in a theme booth once, but that’s it! lol. I should get one, at least…Yours are so lovely!

  • Oh these are just adorable! Good grief…my husband and I were married on 10.10.10 and we STILL have not printed stuff out. Whoops πŸ™‚

  • Nope no photos here, they are in frames under the bed,
If I had photos like yours I have them up and out for all to see πŸ™‚
Now almost 7 years later its all about the baby photos not so much us as a couple anymore.

  • We have printed some photos directly after our wedding but I have promised myself to make a pretty album. Now, ten years later the album is still not there. Even worse, I have just made a wedding album for my sister but not for myself. I’m still so much in love with hubby so it is not that the love disappeared and so did the idea of making album.

  • These images are gorgeous! I’m not engaged or married but I know that it takes me ages to do anything with personal images. Ironic given that I’m a photographer…

  • I LOVE and feel so RELIEVED to read all these comments on how everyone still haven’t done any albums or printouts or framing. We got married on th 28th of May this year, and although we have 4 DVDs brimming with gorgeous photos, I still haven’t come around to do anything with them. Let’s make it a New Year’s resolution to work on printing/hanging up our wedding photos!!

  • These are totally precious! I love ’em! I bet your walls will look gorgeous with these on ’em – love IS the best accessory, decor and well, feeling in the world! <3

  • when I looked at that top pic I thought you had spliced each others legs on πŸ™‚ hee hee le xox

  • It took me ages to realise the tope 2 were separate pics – I was wondering why you were wearing such chunky shoes :0)

  • What lovely pictures!!!

Please can I ask where your lights are from, I’ve always wanted some like that but haven’t found any here in the UK!

    THanks!!!

  • I’ve been married two years and I’ve redone our apartment twice. Wedding pics? Not so much. And, I’m a wedding designer!!! I love that you took your engagement photos in b&w. Beautiful.

  • It took alittle over a year for me to complete our wedding album, it was the first scrapbooking I ever did (probably why it took me so long). We had photos of our wedding framed after a month or so, we had a great photographer who sent us prints of every photo she took, plus a few enlargements within a month of our wedding.

  • Most of the photos from my wedding were polaroid, so I guess….instantly. But as far as the ‘professional’ [which I put in scare quotes because our photographer was terrible and ‘forgot’ to take photos of the two of us] photos go, I just printed them off 2 months ago and I’ll be married 3 years in January.

  • Ive been married for about 6 months now, and I haven’t printed any pictures yet! You’ve inspired me though, so maybe today? πŸ™‚

  • I don’t think I’m considered a newlywed (it will be 4 years in March) but, so far, all I have is one photo displayed (and it’s only a 4×6) and an album filled with photos that need to be reprinted because the company I used did a terrible job. Um, sad. I know. I really am happy with my husband! πŸ˜‰ Hmm…maybe I can get him a Christmas gift related to wedding pictures.

  • My husband and I have been married a little over a year. I printed my fave pictures of the wedding almost right away (I hired a photographer that gave me my 800+ photos on CD’s right away and they were all mine so I could do all the editing – best agreement EVER!) Anywhoo…I made a shutterfly share site right away and also did Christmas cards that year with the pics. But, I just got a 75 page photo album through shutterfly made just about 2 weeks ago and waiting on it to ship as we speak! Not sure why it took me so long…

  • it took me about 6 months to make a book and have our prints done. yours are beautiful!!

  • We have been married 5 years as of last Monday, and we still have tons of disposable cameras that have yet to be developed.

  • I’ve been married for a year and a half now, and we still don’t have any engagement photos or wedding photos on our walls! Although, we do have a really nicely printed photo book that sits on our coffee table. πŸ™‚

  • Ah hum…10 years after I still have some work to do on the last album πŸ™‚
But the ones I really liked were framed and on the wall pretty quickly.

  • adorable! i love the black and white photos. we got married at the end of june and haven’t even thought about printing anything yet. Also, we have yet to send our thank you cards. yikes!
    have a great day elsie!

  • I love black and white photos! I eventually want to get a few printed out for our house.

We have been married for over a year and I am still printing out pictures that I want! haha I printed out pictures for family but never got around to getting all of the ones I want…. One day. lol

  • I have been married 6 months and 2 days (but whos counting) and we have not done anything with our wedding photos except photoshop one of the ohotos of the wedding party into pirates!!

  • Its been two and half years and I still go back and print new ones- change them out and rearrange. Its just as fun now as it was when we first got them back πŸ™‚

  • Put them in albums ASAP! I wish I would have done mine right after our wedding, because now we are celebrating our 5 year anniversary and the pictures are still in a box!

  • My wedding was over a month ago, and I haven’t managed to make an album or anything. I’m sick of looking at photos at the moment of my wedding, it makes me feel sad that its all over. πŸ™

  • That is so lovely that you have engagement sessions. Unfortunately, here in Spain no one cares much about the engagement thing. I love photography so any chance to take pictures is good for me. Yours are lovely by the way. As regards to your question, I really can’t help as I’m not married (yet) πŸ˜‰

  • well…my husband and i have been married almost seven years and we haven’t ever ordered any photos. our photographer printed all the photos for us in 4×6’s and we never got around to enlarging them or anything! ha ha! but i did frame my favorite 4×6’s in a collage. and then my parents recently gave me a couple of wedding pictures they had displayed in their house.

  • Our one year anniversary was a few weeks ago, and we still haven’t made our album or given out prints yet! Yikes! Everyone has seen them on the computer though- so that’s something. I think its pretty natural to have a gap between the wedding and the prints- I’ve heard more stories like that than “we got our prints a week after we were married!”

  • Its been a year… I still don’t have my album! AND I’m a photographer! I just keep putting it off, maybe I will finally print them for christmas πŸ™‚

  • I love these pics! I’m a professional photographer, been married almost three years and have yet to put together our wedding album. I really want an 8×20 album (open its a full 16×20 page, like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_QXszqQv_o) but they are quite pricey even at cost.

We’ve got tons of printed photos in frames all over our house though. Anytime I need to place a small order for a client and I don’t match my minimum required order I print a few shots from our wedding. My favorite picture from our wedding is the one I hung in our entry way (you can see pictures here http://www.dilibertophotoanddesign.com/2011/10/interior-design-our-entryway/)

  • I had our engagement photos printed right away. But our actual wedding was cancelled by a hurricane. We had to replan the whole thing in a few hours and the only venue we could find was a tacky hotel by the airport. The venue was so outdated and orange that I can’t even stand to look at the photos. But as a couple from both sides of the pond we knew that if we didn’t do it then our families would never meet.

  • Couples kissing while tangled in lights will never NOT be the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. Love these.

~Stop Me if You’ve Heard This One

  • i am no where even close to starting my wedding scrapbook, and i am an avid scrapbooker so this is heart wrenching! however, we have only been married a month and a half and i am proud to say we have a photo album on display on our coffee table for guests and many picture frames of photos hung on the wall! i feel like i am at the photo shop weekly!

  • lol! It’s taking me almost a year now…In December it will be 1 whole year and I still haven’t printed our pictures. I have a few print out I did in a local store but nothing professional. It’s been taking time! YOur pics are lovely!

  • Great photos! It took me FOREVER just to pick the ones I wanted and then forever again to decide when, where and how I wanted to hang them! So worht it! Good luck! XOXO, Ali

  • I’ve been married 3 years next month and I still have not printed out a wedding album!! We have a small one with 8x10s from our professional shots…one which is framed and on the wall. I think everyone in the family has our wedding in an album except us! But we do have lots of framed pictures of our little boy πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  • Oh my gosh I feel sooooo much better about myself to see the majority of comments from the newlyweds at heart stating it’s taken them quite some time to get around to doing anything with their photos! I got married on 10/2/10 and I’ve really been feeling so lame for not having even looked at my disk more than twice, even though the pictures turned out really beautiful.
Thanks so much for asking this question! It looks like it might have made many former brides feel a little better.

  • It’s really cute, esp in black and white! I have always been obsessed with weddings, and yours is just so sweet (: I’ve been following your blog for some time now, and I just want you to know that I really love it! πŸ˜€

PS. I love the fort! :p

  • These are beautiful photos, you both look so happy and in love! I haven’t had a wedding or engagement shoot, but I know it takes me AGES to print photos from events like Christmas or my 21st and things like that! I’m sure these will look amazing hung up!

  • How long? Well, I was married in June and think that our wedding album will be a lifelong process as I document the photo that inspires me at the moment.

  • Those pictures are gorgeous. It takes me ages to sort out my holiday photos – I can’t imagine how long it would take me to sort through wedding pictures!

  • Love the black and white! I’ve been married over 3 years and still have only printed one proper photo for us. I look at the proof book (all the time) but I can’t decide which others to print or where to display them if I did. Maybe I’ll get ideas from your displays?! Here’s hoping! xx, SB

  • it took me about a year to pick out the one for my album. and i’ve been married for over 2 years and still haven’t printed pics for my walls and photo frames. shame on me!

  • Well I framed engagement photos as soon as i got them but I am going to make a book for our coffee table from mypublisher.com of our fave wedding photos! They aren’t super expensive on that site compared to other (around $40 including shipping)! I have printed a couple wedding photos to hang from twine and clothes pins in empty frames i used as wedding decor over our mantle. Just 4 of our favorite pics of us as a couple and our bridal party.
I love the pic of you two in the tent btw and with the lights πŸ™‚

  • It took almost a year. And I only printed about three. I still want to do an album, but I wasn’t as fortunate as you to have such an AMAZING photographer. I kinda have to go in and re-edit everything. But, he captured the memories, at least. A word of advice to future newlyweds: spend the money on photography if you can.

  • Been married for over a year now and I still have to get our photos printed and put into frames! We are moving soon though so that’s partly the reason why. Your black and white photos are gorgeous!

  • Hi there! I was married in April 2010 and we just printed a bunch for our apartment… feels great to finally have them on the walls, but it took forever! The parents albums went out a while ago, but ours? Who knows when that will be!

  • Very sweet portraits! We printed all of our pro wedding photos and put them into an album soon after we got them from the photographer (usually we are huge procrastinators so I’m not sure how that happened). We hung wedding photos about six months after we got married, since we moved apartments and didn’t have much else to put up on our walls at that point. I always make different masks for our big framed portrait selves to wear for Halloween ( http://ghostswaltz.blogspot.com/2011/10/happy-haunting-house.html ).

  • We got married after being flat mates (with 5 other roommates) for a month, may 1 st 1990. At our “reception” in the Paradise Lounge San Francisco, (my bridesmaids all worked there) my maid took the camera and drunkenly lost the photos, so, not much to worry about arranging so prettily as yours are done. I have a few, still, so, I should try something with them, they are crazy! And yes, we are still married!

  • Our photographer was a friend of a friend who took a million snaps and gave them to us on cd. It took us 13 months to get them into an album. Was fed up of seeing my face by the time I’d finished, but worth it in the end! Now time to get the honeymoon prints into an album..! Cute engagement photos btw πŸ™‚ xHx

  • Oops. Married for 2yrs and I still haven’t printed any photos. I’ve been meaning to make books for our parents, maybe this Christmas but don’t hold me to it. Glad I’m not the only one!

  • It will be 4 years for me this week πŸ™‚ We never did our album and only have one picture from our photographer that my mom purchased and framed for us as a gift. We have a CD from our photographer we just never sat down and picked pictures out for our album. Plus the cost is a bit steep and there was always something else to spend the money on. Maybe next year for our 5th anniversary, hee! :)I’d love an alum to finally show everyone!!

  • Awww, the B&W looks so beautiful!….Our 1 year wedding anniversary passed, and eeeep, we haven’t printed the bulk of them. But, I did hang a precious snap shot a pal took the day we got back from our honeymoon. This sure inspired me to get a move on! =)

  • I got married in Sept. 2010, and we printed photos very soon after because I sent out little 3.5″ x 5″ photos to our guests with the ‘thank you’ notes. I printed larger ones for ourselves at the same time, BUT they haven’t made it on the walls yet. I suppose I’m just waiting to find the right frame.

  • We’ve been married a year now and we still have a couple of empty frames hung on the wall ready for the photos! Just been so busy, happy and in love but we do have a beautiful photo book and one big print of us on the wall so far! x
