Friendsgiving 2018

Are you planning to host a Friendsgiving this year? I am sincerely curious how many of you do (or attend one—that counts, too) because it is seriously one of my favorite traditions every year. I’m actually hosting my second Friendsgiving tonight for some of my Springfield, Missouri friends. But last week, I got to host with Elsie in Nashville and I wanted to share a few photos with you all.

Elsie and I realized that this was the seventh Friendsgiving we’ve hosted together. Isn’t that crazy?! If you had told me seven years ago that I’d still be doing this and blogging it alongside my sister I don’t think I would have necessarily been shocked, but also I might not have believed you. Probably the biggest change this year was the addition of more kiddos to the table—we’ve got two now. Lola and Nova were for sure the highlight of the day. 🙂

We also decided to do something a little different this year and do BRUNCH for Friendsgiving. Why we never did this before, I have no idea! It was awesome and still felt like the season. I’ll be sharing more about the decor and recipes all this week and we had some really, really good stuff this year, so stay tuned for that! xo. Emma

  • I went to a friendsgiving this year with old friends from school! I hope it continues for years ????

  • This year we’ll be celebrating our 13th annual friendsgiving! Best time of the year 🙂

  • Elsie, I just love seeing the expression on your face just whenever you are looking at Nova. you positively glow with joy.

And yes, we almost always host a Friendsgiving, usually after the “real” day, and find the food and company does not disappoint (unlike our family thanksgivings which unfold with more drama and angst…which makes for a memorable event, if not for gastronomic satisfaction!)

  • I hosted my first Friendsgiving this year (on Saturday) and it’s definitely the start of a new tradition for us! There’s a heated greenhouse in town so we set up a kings table down the middle and had a potting station for guests to pot house plants and take as a party favor! Love your use of fruits as a runner, so pretty!

  • This is going to be my sixth annual Friendsgiving! I’ve carried on the tradition through three moves, an entire Masters degree, and 8 perfect turkeys thanks to your orange brine recipe. You guys actually inspired me to host my first one in and it’s been my favorite tradition ever since!

  • I would love to have a friendsgiving one year but I don’t have enough friends locally to do so. Still working on building a local friend tribe after so many old and trues have moved away to raise/start a family in a more affordable area.

  • These photos are so beautiful & sweet! My good friends just bought their first house, so we’ll be attending Friendsgiving there this weekend – they told us they’re expecting 35-40 people!!

  • Would love to know where your white plates are from – i’ve been looking for some exactly like that!

  • That little wooden plate and matching cutlery for kids is so cute! Do you happen to have a link for it? Thanks and beautiful tablescape! 🙂

  • I am hosting our 15th annual Friendsgiving this year! We usually do a pot-luck on non-thanksgiving foods the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year we’re doing a Taco Bar.
