Try This: Cabinet Knob Key Rack

Key rack made from cabinet knobs—great idea! (click through for more You know you’re officially a grown up when you geek out over totally “boring” things like cabinet hardware. I’ve spent hours online looking up different handles, pulls and knobs for all kinds of doors and cabinets in our new home, and, well, it’s just plain fun! Our new house already had a key hook/coat hanger mounted to the wall in our den, but it wasn’t quite the style we wanted for the room. I was keeping an eye out for a good replacement when I noticed the brass knobs I just bought for the doors on our bookshelf built-ins were actually just what I was looking for! All they needed was to be turned upside down to make the perfect hook. Just to be sure, I tried fitting a key ring over the knob and it was just the right size. So I promptly ordered four more of them to create my own custom key rack.

Just place your hardware on top of the board to get an idea of where they should sit based on the design (I put my holes a little closer to the bottom since the hooks go upward).

Not only does it fit the decor of the rest of the room now, it exactly matches the hardware on the bookcases that it faces. Yes!! Of course, I call this a key rack, but I also use it for bags and coats as well, so don’t feel limited to just keys. I’ve still got a long list of projects to get to, so I’m glad for one that not only looks cute but was quick and easy as well! xo. Laura
