Day Two started off smashingly with waffles and coffee! We were pretty happy to see the sunshine. (this is where Crazy Renegade Story #2 begins…..) We started setting up our space for the day and Jeremy looks at me and says "Where are all the dresses". We looked at each other blankly for a sec as we realized that *MOST* of the dresses we had brought with us from our shop had been stolen. We were sorta in shock and spent the next little while curiously talking about what anyone would possibly do with 20 or so vintage dresses in all different sizes and styles. What a strange thing to steal! We quickly brushed it off and had a pretty amazing second day.
Here are a few photos from our little shared booth. I love Katie's cute little animals. It was super sunny on Sunday!
We had fun chatting, met tons of blog readers and new crafty pals and had some amazing pizza! Red Velvet sold SO many prints. It was really fun to see my artwork heading off to new homes. :)
Some of our sweet friends stopped by to see us too! After the fair we had dinner, drinks and ice cream with Mandi and pals. It was the perfect way to end the day.
On monday Jeremy and I decided to have a little bit of fun before heading home. We did a little shopping and had Thai food and bubble tea (OK, wow… Chicago has the best Thai food out of any city we've visited. We've had it at 3-4 different places in Chicago recently, all amazing! Pot Pan was the absolute best Thai we've had!)
We spent most of the drive back to Missouri finalizing Autumn plans for Red Velvet. We had lots to do in the next 7 weeks before the store opens… SUPER excited! We even did a tiny bit of wedding planning… basically, I had the best weekend ever with Mr. Larson! Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came out the Renegade this year. We will be back to Chicago again someday… no doubt about that!
XO. elsie
PS. i lovee this adorable lomo photo that brittni took with us. thanks for sharing!

I can’t believe someone would steal your dresses! How awful! I love how you handled it though, being positive rules.

I cannot believe your dresses were stolen! Wow. Some people.
And the Thai food in Chicago is really to die for. My new favorite place is Sticky Rice, which is a little bit north (Western and Irving Park area), but worth the trek!
Seriously amazed someone would steal your dresses, especially at an event like that! Big props to you guys for handling it with class and moving on. Glad you had a such a great time! π
Haha… I kept waiting to read that you’d somehow found the dresses! I was sure it was going to be the end of the story…
But I really admire you for getting it so easily and being able to laugh at it…
It’s so much fun hearing you enjoyed your weekend so much! I don’t know *why* it is so fun but from some reason reading about it just makes me feel good. π
Looks like so much fun! π
That’s horrible someone stole the dresses! Ugh the nerve of some people in this world. π
Your paper banner is so adorable! A perfect compliment to your gorgeous wears π
that’s so sad!! love your attitude about it though. I’m glad you were able to put it behind you.
Can’t believe someone stole all those dresses! π will you be going to any of the other Renegades this year?
WHAT I can’t believe someone stole your dresses. That is so sad and pathetic I’m sorry! Glad to hear you recovered from such a low blow and had a great time! Wish I could have been there to squeeze you and Katie <3
i’m sad to hear about your stolen dresses. whoever did that should get a serious punch in the face. but, i’m glad yall recovered and still had a fantastic weekend! i wish i could have gone… i was so jealous when my mom called me just to say that she was at renegade and it was awesome.

I can’t BELIEVE someone stole dresses from you guys! Especially at an event like that where it seems everyone’s very communal and down to earth. I’m glad you guys didn’t let it bug you though, looks like you had a great time!
LOVE LOVE LOVE that owl plush toy!
soooo cute!
It is inspiring to me how well you handled the theft of the dresses. Crappy stuff happens, and I’m sorry that it did, but I hope to be a little more chill about that kind of thing.
looks like Renegade Chicago was amazing, minus the little blip with the dresses… I wish I could have visited! Maybe next year you’ll come to Renegade Brooklyn??
That’s so sad that someone would steal from you. π But I’m glad that it didn’t negatively affect your trip. Sounds like you guys had an amazing time!
I can’t wait to see the finished product of your new store. I want to go see it in person sometime. π

I can’t believe somebody stole all your dresses! It would’ve made me sour all day, but you’re such a trooper, shrugging it off like you did.
That elephant with the sleepy-looking eye KILLS me with it’s cuteness.
huge fan and I’d love for you to check out MY blog at http://www.lakuvent.blogspot.com

that’s horrible that someone stole your dresses! shame on them! what is wrong with people?
Renegade sounds amazing, so glad you had a wonderful time despite the stolen dress mystery – I agree with what others have said, you’ve handled it really well, love your positive attitude : )
That’s crazy and super mean. But it’s so nice that it didn’t ruin your weekend. Love your attitude <3
Oh and PS. You should totally consider going to Renegade in LA, which is also outside.

Way to brush off what might cause a complete break down in others (like myself! π and just enjoy the sale. Sounds like fun!
Sounds like a lovely time you had with your Mr. Larson and the girls! Love your attitude about the dresses. Although I can’t help thinking that I hope whoever stole them walks into a big windstorm with one on and shows her panties to everyone!
Ugh. People stealing from market stalls. I loathe this so much. I know how it feels as this happened to me last month – it is such a kick in the guts! And there isn’t much you can do about it!
On the plus side – Renegade looks amazing! That owl softie is adorable! <3
Wow, what a downer!
When I first got there on Saturday it wasn’t very busy, mostly because of the rainy weather I guess. By the end of the day it was quite packed. I’m sure Sunday was busy and crowded, easy to sneak off with stuff if you’re a big evil meany like that :/
When I read jeremy’s tweet that you had gotten your dresses stolen I was shocked. What in the world?! I’m glad you didn’t let it ruin your fun, though! So glad you had a wonderful, successful trip!
How absolutely horrid that someone stole those dresses…..I know I wouldn’t have been able to handle it with the class and calm that you and Jeremy did. You two are my heroes.
Sorry someone stole your dresse’s. God has way’s of making people pay for their action’s. Wait till they have something like that done to them. Glad your positive about it, and moving on. Their’s nothing you can do about it anyway but move on. Love ya and miss you Dena π
that is appalling that someone stole all of your dresses!! but you are the better person for being so forgiving and handling a terrible situation so well.
i have never been to chicago, but i’ve always wanted to go there! perhaps i will have to plan my trip when the renegade fair is going on!
That’s awful that somebody would steal all those dresses!
Glad you made the best of it and had a good weekend!
Elsie,
I admire your attitude. You always seem to look for the positive in any given situation. I’m sure you have your low moments, like anyone else but you sure don’t let them stop you from realizing your dream. You are one of my biggest inspiration. Thank you for everything that you do and share with us.
Hugs from Montreal,
Sophie
That’s just horrible that your dresses were stolen π I am glad that you didn’t let that dampen your trip though.
stupid people.
I’m guessing you have pictures of the stolen dresses. You should post them, just in case one of your many, many blog readers come across one on eBay or the like…
i love all of these pictures! your outfit is so cute! renegade was so much fun! i went on sunday, wish i would have come to meet you. maybe next time. π
Someone stole your dresses??? That is insane and horrible!!! Where the hell did they steal them from???? I hope they get a huge karma punch. Right in the girl junk. And I agree with redhook- maybe post pics of the dresses so we can be on the lookout for them on ebay or etsy!
So sorry to hear that your dresses were stolen! I would have gotten really mad or cried, glad to hear you didn’t let it ruin your day. You really are so strong, Elsie! Awesome weekend!!
Hey man, I saw those dresses, they were super cute, total bummer someone walked off with them. The nerve of some people…
wow i can’t believe someone would steal your dresses like that. karma will get them! it’s good that you wouldn’t let it ruin the rest of your day!
Someone stole all your dresses? That’s horrible but I admire how you got over it.
I would be crying in the corner.
I am so happy you had a great weekend. To me there is nothing better than a road trip with the man you love.
x
Wow. Love these pics, but so sorry about someone ripping off your dresses π
Your dresses were stolen?! Oh, that’s so sad! But it’s a good thing that you didn’t let it ruin your day. Seems to me that you had an amazing time! Don’t worry, what goes around, comes around. Whoever did that I’m sure will pay, one way or another.
YAY! For Autumn plans! I can’t wait to see all of your amazing ideas!
stolen? ugh, some people have no moral compass at all! i’m glad it didn’t spoil the day though (: looks like it was a great fair.

SOOO happy I got to meet you! You have to be the sweetest thing ever. I’m sorry to hear what happened to your dresses, but I’m glad you didn’t let that faze you and you were able to enjoy the rest of the show.
Oh, and I can’t believe I got to talk to you in person and TOTALLY forgot to congratulate you on your engagement! Woot! Can’t wait to follow your engagement story until the big day!
Take care, emily
I’m sorry to hear about someone doing that to you but very happy to hear you had a successful weekend!
It was so amazing to meet you at RCF Chicago π It was the total highlight of my weekend there (traveled from Cleveland). I was so excited, I forgot to get a picture with you! I can’t wait for next year.
Keep up the great work…and as I said I probably would, Mr Larson’s cd has been on repeat π Thank you so much! I love it.
I’m sorry your dresses were stolen. How sad! Glad you were able to shake it off and enjoy the weekend. That says alot about your spirit.
A girlfriend and I are taking a road trip in November across the bottom of Missouri (from TN and KY) and plan to visit your store. LC
Glad you had such a great time. And I can’t believe someone stole dresses from you! How horrible. You seem to have a really awesome attitude about it, though. Way to look on the bright side π
ahhh, I wish I could have gone. I missed my chance in San Fran. I wish there was a Renegade in Sacramento.
some people are so mean, still I’m pleased it didn’t ruin your day, everything looks great. x
Loved hanging out! So sad about the dresses. You handled it like such a pro, though. π
That little stuffed owl is so cute I want it and the elephant too. sorry to hear about your dresses but like many posters said at least you didn’t let it spoil your fun and you stayed postive!
Can I just say that Mr. Larson’s hair is looking quite dapper these days? The photo of him in the sunglasses reminds me a bit of Ewan McGregor with a beard:)
I wondered if anything like that was going to happen during the night time hours. I’m soooo sorry to hear that Elsie. There are some awful people in this world. Love these pictures though.
oh my gosh those animals are sooo cute! You girls are great!
