We traveled nine hours this past weekend to sell handmade goods at Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago. Here are a some highlights from the weekend. I love-love-love Chicago… it's my favorite Renegade, only because it's outdoors! I love all the puppies and sunshine. We had a fantastic time. And I must say, I am so happy to be home and blogging from my own comfy bed…
On Thursday we traveled. We made stops for bubble tea (in St. Louis) and Antique Malls along the way. Jeremy and I love traveling long distances because we have time to chat for hours about goals and plans for both Red Velvet and his music projects. It's nice.
I actually didn't find any treasures to take home that day, but this little cookie jar seemed worth remembering. (is he a panda or a puppy? i'm not sure….)
OK, here comes Crazy Renegade Story #1… We're arriving early Saturday morning and it's pouring down rain. Of course, I'm bummed because it's an outdoor fair and nervous that people are going to skip due to rain. Jeremy and I are driving into the fair for 'set up' and I suddenly have a scared-to-death moment… I realize that I have absolutely no memory of renting a tent or tables (turns out I didn't have that memory because it never happened… nice!). We pull up to our area and it was completely empty (actually there's a big puddle there… oh my!). I'm freaking out, frantic and all of the above. Jeremy leaves to try to rent a tent at the last minute. He's gone for about an hour and eventually comes back with a long and very sweet story about how Danny (of Renegade Handmade) saved the day and helped us get the very last tent. We were SO THANKFUL. I'm learning a lesson about having toooo many irons on the fire and just being way too busy in general! Can't believe I was so forgetful, but I'm really thankful to Jeremy for being super calm and extra kind to me that day.♥
The rest of the day was completely wonderful! The rain cleared up and the weather was perfectly crisp! Katie and I shared a booth and met so many sweet people! I loved sharing a table with her and watching people FLIP OUT over her cute plush toys all day. It was really fun. We met tons of blog readers too (hi!) which is absolutely heartwarming. It makes my blog feel like a warm and friendly place. I absolutely loooove meeting faces from 'the other side of the computer screen'… it was wonderful to meet you!

I have had cabin fever since our return from vacation earlier this summer. I don’t just want to go anywhere, though. A craft fair might be the perfect fall jaunt. Love the photos!

That sweet boy looked until he found the Red Velvet Booth just b/c I said so AND he bought me a present, which is a delight since he JUST moved to Michigan from our home state of Mississippi. Every time I read one of your Renegade Craft Fair stories I want to get in my car, drive to one and buy something at each booth. I’ve never been, but someday. Someday.
Before the show started Jeremy walked past my boyfriend and I really fast, and it took me a second to realize why he looked familiar! Now I guess he was rushing back to save the day with tent news 🙂
