wow! i was happy to see what so many of you are interested in doing this little ‘simple goals’ project with me! it will be fun to motivate each other and be inspired by what others are achieving. if you’d like to participate, here are the guidelines…
1. choose simple goals that will make your life richer and happier on a daily basis. choose things you may not otherwise get done, but that are not difficult to accomplish.
2. do not choose result oriented goals, choose activity oriented goals. for example…. instead of “lose 10 pounds”, choose something like “eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day”. get what i’m saying? positive actions instead of just the end result!
3. choose goals that are personal that you believe will truly make your life richer just by doing them! they can be daily, weekly or one time experiences.
4. choose a reward for each goal as it is accomplished! it can be a small or large reward.
5. blog your goals, each one as you achieve it and a big post when they are all finished before the new year! i’ll be doing this too! links back to this post are appreciated.
So excited! If you blog your goals today or this week, please leave me a link here so I can check them out! My sister and mister will be playing along too. Here are my 4 simple goals…
1. take more photos of everyday life. i’ve been in the habit of taking photos only when i intend to blog them or use for business. this is a just-for-fun personal goal for me. i don’t want to take photography seriously all the time, i want to do it as a hobby. 2. create the prettiest dress shop around. i’m obsessed and inspired and this project is making me so happy in my heart. i want to do this for my customers, but most of all i want to do it for myself! 3. create a beautiful studio space. once again, i’ve moved to a new location and i am building my studio from scratch. right now it’s hard to find time for ‘behind the scenes’ work at Red Velvet, but this is so important to me. a beautiful and inspiring studio is something i need in my life every single day! 4. dye my hair natural red. anything that requires making an appointment takes me months to do. i don’t know why, but i have a huge mental block with picking up the phone and booking things like this. now that i’ve said it here i sorta have to do it (that’s the point)… yay!
I’m excited to read your 4 Simple Goals! remember to make them personal challenges that will make your life more beautiful each day. Feel free to use these banners I’ve made…
Have a lovely day! elsie

I’m all over this one, Elsie! Thanks for the challenge, and I can’t wait to get started! Wee!
yay! i seriously have to do this, i need a think first though and post tomorrow (:
this sounds so much fun. though what to choose…? I agree with your number 1 (everyday photos) and no.4 (actually booking an appointment!) for which I am also absolutely dreadful at! >_<
i might join you in this…but first i need to think of some…i am very into goal, but i tend to focus on either LONG term ones or just day by days ones. This next couple months concept is new to me. hmmmm….
Yay! I’m excited to do this! I’m such a list-maker, it will be hard to pick just 4 goals. 😉 It’ll be interesting to see what everyone comes up with!
xo,
Meaghan @ Urban Farm Designs
Such a great idea!! Lovely goals! I am excited to see you as a natural redhead! 🙂
Working on my goals RIGHT NOW!!
LOVE this challenge!!
My goals:
#1-Play with my cute nieces every week!
#2-Write at least one sentence per day in my journal.
#3-Drink at least 64oz. of water per day.
#4-Fix hair/make-up everyday (I work from home and have become VERY sloppy lately, hehe).
Hi Elsie,
I have the perfect at home red for you to try. Natural Instincts “Chinaberry” I get my done at a salon but I was in a pinch before vacation and had to do it myself- this red was the exact same color as the salon. Funny thing is, I am on my way to the salon to become a brunette.
Love this! It’ll be a great second post for my new blog (which was definitely one of my goals in the last few months) all my goals might be a bit blog oriented since it’s something new I’m pursuing but I’ll definitely post once I decide which 4 are most important. And..mix them up a bit so they aren’t one track minded. Is that even a saying? One track minded?
Elsie I just started following your blog at the suggestion of a friend. I love this idea of four simple goals before the end of the year. I’m thinking about mine…trying to keep them simple (I have the big hairy ones but they are more long term). I’ll check back and let you know and when I blog about it I will be sure to link back to the originator (i.e. you).
yeay! i really can’t wait to start, however I need to sit down and really think about my goals. I’ll blog about it next week as I will be flying back to my home country tomorrow. thanks for doing this! xo
So fun! im gonna be posting this soon on my blog I’ll get back to you with the link!
I have the same problem with appointments something about having to be at a certain place at certain time I just can’t seem to wrap my mind around. It takes me weeks (sometimes months) of saying I really need to schedule that 🙂
oooh i like this idea! im thinkin that i might jump on board too!!!
This is a pretty grand idea. I’ll be doing it on my blog as well. 😀

Nat
I have been dying my hair a natural red for about seven years now and I absolutely love it. I get it done at the salon. I believe she uses arden, the most gentle on your hair, and it fades the most naturally as well.
I am very excited to get some goals going. I love the way you made goals not seem like dreadful thing like sometimes how I feel when I go to make goals, but enjoyable. I can’t wait to participate. Now to make some goals!
Great idea. Will work on choosing and posting these sometime today.
I’m sorry it is Redken she uses. Its beautiful and more natural for hair.
okay, i’m in! i just need to come up with some realistic goals, hhmmm, thinking . . .
Sue
This is a great project 🙂 Thanks so much for coming up with the idea!

timing is such a funny thing. Just today I was sitting at my job (that is NOT what I want to be doing with my life) feeling sorry for myself when I decided to use my infinite free time (my job is sorta boring) to make a list of things I really wanted and how I would go about achieving them. Now I see this, and it’s PERFECT timing!
I’m so so so excited to participate in this!
What a fantastic idea- Thankyou for the push to get motivated 🙂

i know the most beautiful shade of dye to have natural looking red hair. i’m a natural dish water blonde with fair skin and i get TONS of compliments when i use this dye. I use Ion Brilliance in Intense Red from Sally’s Beauty Supply. It will definitely give you that beautiful Jenny Lewis look 😉
Elsie- This was super fun!! It feels so much more official to write it down!! Can’t wait to see everyone’s progress!! Thank you for sharing and inspiring!

I love your simple goals.
One of mine, I was just telling my boyfriend that I wanted to lose 15 pounds by October.
Reframing like you did sounds good and less pressure, to eat more fruits and veggies and move more.

Wonderful! My four goals are
1) speak more German with my boyfriend
2) really explore Hamburg

http://thecollegeboundfashionista.blogspot.com/2010/08/4-simple-goals.html
Wow, this is such a great idea. So simple! I’ve got teacher responsibilities knockin, so this will shock me out of my procrastination coma 😉 I’m off to work on them now! wwww.coldwarunicorn.wordpress.com

http://miss-raspberry.blogspot.com/2010/08/4-simple-goals.html
Yay this was a fun little exercise!
http://kennav.blogspot.com/2010/08/dream-little-dream.html
1) Get a pretty blog make-over. I love my blog, yet the standard blogger templates hardly shout “Louise”. It is time for something pretty, creative and fun.
2) Get out my Denby tea set and try a different type of tea every week (not including fruit teas which I can’t stand).
3) Invite someone interesting for afternoon tea. I’ll put on a pretty dress, make a selection of finger sandwiches and cakes like they do at the Ritz in London, bring out my tea set, and talk about dusting off our long-held dreams and passions.
4) Set up an Etsy store with an eclectic mix of vintage tea sets and my crafty creations.
I think these are goals that I can actually accomplish!
http://s-renee.com/life/4-simple-goals/

http://lovecaboose.blogspot.com/2010/08/4-simple-goals.html
This is a wonderful idea that I’ve already been trying to implement in my life on a subconscious level. But writing these things down helps too. 🙂
1. Officially start up the vegetarian/vegan cooking blog that my boyfriend and I have been planning out.
2. Analyze less, love more.
3. Continue to exercise and push myself everyday.
4. Stop at least once a day to do something little for myself: enjoy nature, take photos, read, write, create art, study sign language… something that’s all my own.
Thanks for starting this, Elsie. 🙂
Thanks for this challenge. I have posted my goals and hope to continue working towards these goals.
I’m not absolutely positive if I’ve already sent you a link, but I chose my 4 simple goals!

Fab idea!! Here are mine:
1. Eat enough healthy & homemade things for the baby (and me), including homemade cake because I think it’s good for us.
2. Go more often to the new fabric store to support it so it will stay there since it’s the only good one we have.
3. Get all the pretty clothes (that I own many of but can’t wear at the moment) well organized in our new closet.
4. Use the 2 stay-at-home months before the baby is here for a trillion sewing projects.

Hi Elsie!
I LOVE this challenge.
If you don’t mind, I translated the guidelines to portuguese to see if brazilian people want to joing the challenge too.
Here’s mine:

1. Get a library card for me and dear daughters
2. Take more photos of everyday life (stolen yours)
3. Create a photobook of Melissa’s 5th birthday (last year)
4. Organizing and decorating my kitchen
Thank you. It is gonna be FUN!
Thanks so much for the idea/incentive.
Here goes…
1. Walk, run, just get off the couch and enjoy some soon-to-be fall weather. Fingers crossed that it hits Texas before December this year.
2. Start a new art journal. Doodle at will.
3. Shoot for the stars. Try for something that seems out-of-reach. Something crazy. A dream.
4. Buy a pretty dress.
*Also, as a bonus (or maybe ’cause I’m a little nuts) I’m thinking about adding one other really big goal, totally inspired by http://KendiEveryday.blogspot's 30 for 30 challenge.
Here are my goals! Thanks Elsie! http://www.femarini.com.br/blog/index.php/2010/09/10/4-pequenas-metas-antes-que-2011-chegue/

We weren’t allowed to do that with nicer furniture, of course, but I think my parents figured that they weren’t exactly pricey pieces to begin with… and, in a way, they looked better with the stickers 🙂
I love this idea! I plan on reposting this on my own blog for my 21 followers. Thank you!

On the other hand the Times chart may have well been just a table. What was the use of the donuts? Your chart did a great job of actually visualizing the data and conveyed the illustrated concept much more clearly.
That’s great, I never thought about Nostradamus in the OR (Insights from Eugene Litvak at IHI) like that before.
For this year I will stick to my SMART GOALS:
Invest in a long-term business with my friends.
Save 30 % of my cash every payday.
Plan for the year’s activities in advance, like travel, the holidays, etc.
And of course, allot 20% of my money to my debt every payday.
We live, in fact, in a world starved for solitude, silence, and private: and therefore starved for meditation and true friendship. Do you agree?
What a beautiful post – love all the photos!
I will focused on my small business as well as taking care of my family coz having a short time with them reall means a lot to them..I really love your blog very inspirational!..
II. That no certificates of citizenship, or naturalization
Oh this is awesome! Now I have to think of my list, but I have ideas!!
It makes me feel so surprise
It’s so great.

Your goals are simple, but easy to achieve. And I can see that you’ve already achieved your goals for 2011, wow! I’m so proud of you, Elsie! Keep it up! =]
Although diamond-tooling experts talk about things like impact strength, mesh count, diamond concentration and method of segment attachment when discussing their products, most stone fabricators don’t involve themselves in the minutia of the topic. When they shop for blades or pads, they tend to shop for price and performance.
1 of my goals for t he summer is to read lots, beusace if I don’t when I come back here in September I will have gone down in my reading. So reading is important to me. Another 1 of my goals is to do some math during the summer even know I don’t want to I will, to help myself get better at it. Last but not least getting in shape so I can do more things in P.E. and other things. So that is my goals for in the summer. 🙂
I probably will be tknhiing about school at Valley View next year like doing somethings to get used to the school hopefully and I hope I make some new good friends that are nice, get good grades .but I hope to read lots of different books and do some awsum crafts ,of coarse I will visit sometime to this school.:)
I want to improve my winrtig, reading and listening skills. By getting better at reading I’m going to try to read over the summer and sometimes write a paragraph to get my winrtig better.by listening I’m going to try to block other people and focus on the speaker.
Welcome to another edioitn of Project 2011, started by Cate at Moments of Whimsy. It’s a weekly meme highlighting our goals for 2011. Some people may want to eat better, lose weight, find a happy place and so on. I picked crafts.
I find this Ramadan a little difrefent for me. I was blessed with my third baby 4 months ago, and find that the habits I have established over the past year or two have changed, gone to the side I have to rearrange my abilities and my goals for this Ramadan, and keep myself from feeling depressed’ at the difrefent types of ibada that I can realistically do. If I focus on fasting 10 of the 30 days of Ramadan, that will be a good start inshaAllah. Then I have to find all the things that will help me be able to fast those ten days, including making time for daytime napping, drinking plenty of water throughout the night, and making sure I have a substantial suhoor. What can be better than the act of fasting during Ramadan? And refocusing my niyyah so that every action I do with my young one, whether its changing his diaper again, nursing him again, etc, will count for me and not go silently into the wind.
Yes! I like the goal setting idea . If we have a goal, it makes it a bit esaeir to slog through the hard parts of life as we have an end result we are going for- kind of like seeing the finish line of a race- if we KNOW there is an actual finish line then when we get to the hitting the wall part of the race, we can actually get through it and not stop. I love having goals even if they change or we don’t make them, it is esaeir to get through the day to day. Thanks Wendy!!!!
