Our new space has pretty white pressed tin ceilings. These are one of my favorite perks to older buildings. I think they are so pretty. Currently I am planning out the floor plan, choosing colors and decorative lighting. Here are the options for lighting/ceiling decor… disco balls, mid-century globe lights, hanging lamps or chandeliers? Or a combination of 2-3 options… Any thoughts?

Go with a combination! Lots of different feelings for the same space (that and chandeliers are gorgeous but not always the best option for overall lighting, but having one or two doesn’t hurt!)
Disco balls are a bit overdone in vintage stores.
I think the mid-century globe lights and chandeliers would probably be more aesthetically pleasing.
And I agree with you, that ceiling is gorgeous! π
I would do a mix of chandeliers and globes. Just make sure you anchor your displays with rugs/painted floors around each space. Good luck!! And congrats on the engagement!
gotta vote for the mid-century globes! but whatever you do will look RAD.
Chandeliers!!! Love!
Your store has such a wide array of stock, so it only seems fitting that you carry over that sense of variety into your fixtures. That way the eye keeps moving, instead of getting bored with a repeat of the same fixture.
Chandeliers and Globes…then maybe a room full of nothing but vintage 70’s items with lots of disco balls. Too much fun!
I really like the disco ball….but the chandeliers would be classy too. It really depends on the color scheme and layout. I can’t decide yet. Haha
I think a blend of mid-century globes and chandeliers would be just lovely! Can’t wait to see how the space develops!
I have gold tin ceilings in my shop! I looOove the old building my shop is in! I love the disco ball idea!! π
chandeliers are hard to replace bulbs… you might get annoyed after the first few bulbs blow. i say mid century lighting all the way and maybe some small artsy mod lights to keep the walls lit up :))
xo.
Combination…different lighting for different sections. It’ll give off a wonderful vibe!
id say for an old building: hanging lamps &/or chandeliers
i think the ceiling is so beautiful!!! so i’d vote for simple mid-century globe lights. and if you have some plain ceiling somewhere in the building, here’s an idea: http://www.arcoweb.com.br/arquitetura/sandra-moura-arquitetura-restaurante-brasilia-06-11-2009.html (it is a luminaire made with napkins, you could use fabric).
=^ . ^=
Combination would make it look magical!
Go eclectic!
I like the though of hanging lamps and chandeliers! Not disco balls though.
Chandeliers go with everything. π
I am coveting chandeliers right now. I think i want to hang one n my walk in closet!
I would LOVE to see what sort of displays you would make under a beautiful and whimsical chandelier!
<3
Chandeliers and globes!
Pressed tin ceilings = <3!
I vote for the last three options. π
mid century globe lights and chandeliers!!!! they would look SO great against that beautiful ceiling!
I would forgo the disco ball but I think that various lighting options are good. Something else I love is christmas lights.
Chandeliers and globes would look amazing together especially the globes with that decorative ceiling. Ans chandeliers always look beautiful <3
I like the globe lights, but hanging lamps are good too. Anything but fluorescent lights. *yuck*
Definitely Disco Balls! That is such a cute idea!
hanging lights and chandeliers get my vote. Have fun!!
Those gorgeous vintage ceilings cry out for vintage lighting! Disco balls would be too overdone but your other suggestions would be classy.
i’d go with hanging bulbs! or a large lamp shade!
With those ceilings? Chandeliers baby!
Ooo a combo would be so fun and a neat way to separate out different moods throughout the space.
I heart chandeliers…they would look fabulous!!!
mid century all the way. they r the prettiest!
disco balls!
MUST have chandeliers with the pressed tin. that’s a lethal combination of fabulous.
I like all of them! What about having each kind over different sections of the store? Chandeliers over the fancy dress bits, lamps over the handmade goodies, and the big disco ball over the sweets shoppe, because cupcakes and candy are ALWAYS a party! (^-^)/
I vote for Mid-century globes!! They create such a good fun vintage vibe. I’m not a fan of disco balls (sorry) And the chandelier thing is done so often, but they are super pretty nonetheless!
Chandeliers! They would be lovely with the pressed tin ceilings.
Mid-century globes and chandeliers are my vote!

hanging lamps, chandeliers, and twinkle lights…
chandeliers are my first pic!!! and the suggestion of twinkle lights would be sooooo sweet too!
I love love love ceilings like that! I think old vintage swag lighting with the colored glass balls would be perfect! (like this one on etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/38947860/green-glass-and-brass-swag-lamp-retro?ref=sr_list_1&;ga_search_query=hanging+light+chain+glass&;ga_search_type=vintage&;ga_page=&;order=&;includes%5B0%5D=tags&;includes%5B1%5D=title

Ooooh, I love the tin ceilings! They are plentiful here in our little VT village! I was visiting NYC in May and stopped by Anthropologie. The huge crystal chandeliers were STUNNING. They were SO formal and regal, casting beautiful light on eclectic treasures- and there was perfect harmony! I have a picture if you’d like me to share!
Also, I like the ‘raw’ bulb chandeliers. I’ve seen them in several variations (I wonder if you could make or have them made to reduce cost and also to have them made specific to size). Pottery Barn has this one..

Exciting ventures!!!
Beautiful Elsie. I love pressed tin.
I can see you and your crafty Dad doing your own lighting…something like light bulbs with upside down tea cups for the lamp shades.
Whatever you do it will look wonderful.

I think different colored chandeliers would be pretty awesome, that is if you want a lot of different colors π I think that would be pretty rad!
i think the hanging lamps would be eclectic and fun with a load of aesthetic possibilities. looks like you’re having fun!
Combo of 2 and 3!!
chandeliers!
my vote is for at least one chandelier! I like the eclectic look though, so mix it up!
i go for for hanging lamps, chandeliers and globes ! yay.
i vote hanging lamps and chandeliers! i think a mix would be lovely! i think even a bunch of bulbs with cords all together would be kinda rad!! I am sure whatever you choose will be awesome!! You have great taste!! xo

I think chandeliers would be lovely with the tin ceiling. I can imagine all different colored ones – turquoise, bright yellow, minty green, etc.
How fun to set up your sweet little shoppe! π

i’m a sucker for chandeliers π and over-sized retro hanging lamps, oo la la!
Yes! Yes! I agree on the chandeliers, too. There are so many styles and you can funk them up (or girlie them up)! I like the Barbie fixture you posted previously, so cute. I’m making one for my younger sis for Christmas.
globe lights and chandeliers. sounds brilliant :] xoxo
i found it on ebay! woo hoo for good finds!
Really appreciated your post!
