we had our first little get-together with pals in the new home. it was lots of fun! putting a house together takes so much time and so many revisions… or maybe i'm just a perfectionist. i feel like i'm going to be working on it for at least a year! how long did it take you to feel 'at home' in your home?

i have to publicly thank mr. larson for being the best friend to me EVER this week. i mean, he's always wonderful… this week i just needed a lot of extra love, attention and help with my many projects (ladies, you know what i mean). he's the sweetest man!

i hope you have a fun Saturday! XO. elsie

  • Setting up a home does take a lot of work. I’ve lived here for nearly 9 years and I’m still changing things. It seems we change up rooms all the time. Hopefully I finally have my studio the way it’ll stay for years to come though. Can’t wait to see your home tour!

  • Great photos! I know what you mean about not feeling at home! We moved into our new place this last October and we’re constantly rearranging and settling things in. I probably will get everything the way I want it just before we pack and move again. Good luck!

  • I’ve been here 3 years, and it’s still not “homey” feeling. Soon, though.

    Enjoy the process…

  • Those cupcakes look delicious!

I think decorating a house is a never ending process! I am about to move out into my own apartment in the next few months, and I’m super excited (but also overwhelmed) about all the work I’ll have to do!

  • love ytour pics and by just seeing those cupcakes…my stomach starts to growl…can’t wait for monday, should be a lot of fun. I love following your blog, makes me happy!!

  • i still don’t feel at home in this place & it’s been nearly a year. i think it’s the bad vibe from the neighbors. luckily our lease is up soon & we can find a better place.

i’m sure once you have a chance to sit & relax it will begin to feel more like home πŸ™‚

  • I love those fun little straws! It took me a couple months to feel at home in my new home. But I am fixing things and redoing things. My bathroom is still pretty BLAH so I need some inspiration πŸ˜€

    Love and Turtledoves,
    Jaco

  • I still don’t have my house done and I’ve lived in it for 4 years! There is spackle on 2 walls. A total of 4 rooms could use new paint, the yard is never done, the rooms are always messy because of my 2 very active kids, but it’s home!

  • What effect are you using for your photos? premade actions, your own recipe, TTV? curious bc they are awesome.

  • It really hit me when we were gone on vacation for a week and came back to our house. It really felt like home and I realized how much I loved and missed it: )

  • My girlfriend and I have been living in our apartment for about 6 months and we are still settling in. Rearranging knick-knacks, hanging up new artwork, etc. It’s hard work!

  • I’m sure it all looks awesome. I hope someday I get to have my own home to decorate as I wish.

  • I feel like it’s never done. We move alot with hubby’s military job and about a month before we move do I feel ‘content’ with how everything is set up. Then we move and I do it all over again!

  • Hi! So glad the get together was awesome!

It took me about a year to feel at home after our move from AZ to TX. But now I am LOVING our home. Starting to feel more like us each day.

  • love the pics – I’m obsessed with hipstamatic at the moment!! πŸ™‚
Cupcakes look delish and those straws are gorgeous

  • I cannot wait to read all theses posts I’m behind on! Yay for blog parties, decorating and the most delicious looking cupcakes ever.

  • My husband is in the military, and we’ve lived in 5 different “homes” in the 5 years we’ve been married. The most recent we were in for almost 2 years. It was the first place that really felt like home for us, and it took me about… 2 years to perfect! haha Right when I’d gotten every thrifted piece of furniture in it’s perfect position, it was time to move again.

Although it’s somewhat annoying to be on the move so much… it is fun to set up house. Especially since I get bored with the same old thing. πŸ™‚ It forces one to be creative!
