I can NOT believe this is my final home tour in our current home. When we moved in, I remember how overwhelmed I felt. All I wanted was to finish the house. Now that it’s done, I wish I had gone slower and enjoyed the process more (especially in the beginning) … a lesson for next time, I guess.
Today, I’m here to share the studio bathroom we put in in our basement (to go with my husband’s recording studio). This is the only room where the before/after doesn’t make any sense, but I’ll show you anyway. This is the bathroom “before” …
At least you can see here what we started with and where this little half-bathroom is now located.
The face of a woman who learned SO MUCH from this remodel. Also, I still need to get those imperfect stairs fixed … haha.
The design in here is small but mighty! I am so proud of it. The wallpaper is from Hygge + West, one of my favorite spots for wallpaper. I actually got it on clearance when it was going out of stock, but I loved it so much and I had to have it.
The sconces and mirror are from Schoolhouse Electric. I LOVE them.
The sink and hardware are from Rejuvenation. I love the gold with the rustic sink!
Small but mighty, right?
The Marfa print is from Kelly’s print shop. I want to go to Marfa soon!
So proud! (never mind the one missing light bulb, OK?)
For scale. π
I’ll be back soon to share a roundup of all my room tours from start to finish. To be clear, I still want to share a LOT of home projects, I am just done with the before/after tours now. Oh! Except for the big video tourβI still owe you that one! It’s kind of funny how rushed I felt at first and now I don’t want it to be over. Crazy.
Hope your day is lovely! xx – Elsie

That is the cutest sink. π
Isn’t it adorable??!
Thank you π
Oh my goodness, for a second I thought you were moving! Congrats on being βdoneβ. For a little while at least.
This home has been such an inspiration! I look forward to using some of your ideas for my home. The sink is uniquely beautiful!
The soap on the rope is a perfect touch. I doubt I would have thought of that!
Looks wonderful! I’m curious — what was the reasoning for the floor height increase + steps up into the bathroom? Did you run plumbing under a false floor to avoid tearing into your slab or adjacent walls?
Yes- exactly.
Love this bathroom. In my small CA studio this would be ideal.
Absolutely lovely!! I would love to read more about the process it took to get here- obviously from the before picture this was more of a construction project; it would be super interesting to learn about the steps that went into it and the decisions you had to make along the way!
Thanks so much Hannah! I will keep that in mind next time we do a big renovation. Going into this house I honestly never realized people would like to see all those details. This renovation was a LOT so I think the “ptsd” of it erased some of my memory- probably for the best. π xx
Are the plants real? I’m guessing there’s not a lot of sun in here. If they’re fake, where did you get them? I ask this knowing full well that they more than likely aren’t available in Canada. ????
Hi! The cactus is real. :))
I love it! I second Hannah’s comment, I would love to hear/see more details about the construction. A “guide to working with contractors” maybe? Where the conversations start and how to get your vision across etc. Lovely work!
Love what you did with it!! Looks so good! Thanks for sharing, hope you are having a lovely day.

I echo Hannah’s comment. Can you speak to the reasoning behind the steps to the bathroom (at least in the comments here)? I assume it was to not have to trench the plumbing into the concrete slab?
I think we need more acknowledgment of how brilliant soap-on-a-rope is!!
I have a question about the Cactus: Real or fake? I ask because I have struggled with greenery in the bathroom and wondering how you approach!
That sink & towel holder are so cool!
And your overalls are adorable, Elsie!
