Easy Photo Keychain DIY

Father’s Day is coming up and whether you’ve put zero thought into a gift or a lot of thought but just can’t figure out what to make/buy, I have the perfect solution for you—a photo keychain! I love using photos anywhere I can in our life and around the house, so seeing a picture of our sweet little toddler’s face every time we grab our keys is something I know will warm my husband’s heart as well.

This post is sponsored by our friends at Canon USA. Since I had my PIXMA MegaTank printer and some photo paper all ready to go, all I needed for this was a few supplies to make this at home in a matter of minutes!

Supplies:
–Canon PIXMA MegaTank printer
–photo paper
–blank plastic keychains (I like this one too!)
–large gold jump rings (optional)
–gold key rings (optional)

First, resize your photos down to whatever size you need for your keychain. I measured the plastic piece that you snap into place on the keychain and that let me know what I needed to size my photos to. If you don’t have a Photoshop-type tool, you can try reducing the print scale option when you go to print the image (so check the options your computer gives you when you print and see if you can print it at 50% the original size or 20% the original size, etc.) and then trim the photo from there. I resized all my photos options in Photoshop first so I could print them all on one page and do a couple of double-sided keychains.

Once your photos are printed, use an X-Acto knife, ruler or scissors to cut them out and make sure they fit into your keychain opening.

Add two photos back-to-back and then snap the plastic piece in place to close the opening. That’s it! How easy was that gift!?

As a side note, you can optionally also switch out the hardware of the keychain for gold options if you like to have gold hardware like I do. I just used pliers to pull off the silver hardware and connected a gold keyring with a large gold jump ring and I was ready to add my photos and keys!

There are lots of other things you can add to your photo keychain if you want to make it more personal. You could have a small handwritten note from one of your older kids on the other side, or have all your kids write their names, or use a piece of some scribble artwork that your toddler made just for Daddy as well.

This is also a great gift for events other than Father’s Day, so feel free to use this DIY for Mother’s Day, birthdays, or Christmas as well!
