Hi friends! I’m giving you a little tour of mine and Trey’s Nashville bnb (the navy blue side). I’m gonna show you all the living spaces today. In case you missed it, Elsie and I bought a duplex earlier this year. Both units are available as short-term rentals (here’s my listing on Airbnb and EpicBnb) and Trey and I stay here when we visit Nashville, which is pretty often. Obviously you already know that my sister lives there, but Trey’s older sister, along her with husband and children live in Franklin, Tennessee—not too far from Nashville. So having somewhere to stay when we visit is a total dream come true.
I also sort of love how my sister and I bought a duplex together. Our grandmother, Norma Jean, lives next door to her sister Ina in Buffalo, Missouri. They both still live next to each other and when we would visit our grandma’s house when we were kids we would often visit Ina’s house too. Of course Elsie doesn’t live in her side of the duplex, so it’s not exactly the same thing. But it makes me think of our grandmother and her sister, and that just makes me smile. 🙂
I also just can’t believe that Trey and I own this home. The first morning we woke up in this house I just had the biggest smile on my face as I kept thinking, “This is our house.” I’ve stayed in many short-term rentals over the last five-plus years, as I love to stay in them when we travel. But this was a whole different experience. I feel SOOOO incredibly lucky and also proud. When Elsie and I started our business together, we were in debt, and now we have this investment property. Yes, that’s been a 12-year journey, but I am very proud and immensely thankful! OK, before I start to get too sappy, let me tell you a little bit more about our house.
First, you’ll probably notice there is quite a bit of pink. Ha. Trey actually really likes pink and green and it was his idea to paint the lower cabinets pink, which I think gave the kitchen so much more personality. The duplex is basically a mirror of Elsie’s side as they were built together. The first floor has one bedroom and a full bathroom but most of the space is a big open living area with the kitchen and dining room. There is also a good sized backyard, which you can see more of in our listing.
Trey and I were involved in decorating the space, but Elsie really did all the heavy lifting since she’s located in Nashville and I am not there all the time. I love all the furniture and decor choices she made! You can see her working on the dining room on an IGTV episode if you go to our Instagram. When Trey and I are in town we usually are working on our laptops at this dining room table.
I also love this storage cabinet. It’s a great spot to set your car keys or store extra stuff. We’ve also stocked it with a few games folks can play when they stay. There are more games on the back porch, which you can see more of here.
Upstairs is the living room as well as the laundry, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. You might think our green couch looks familiar? Last time Trey and I were in town, we started watching the new season of Big Little Lies in this space.
I don’t know why I like telling you random details like that. I guess I just want to prove that I’ve been here. Ha!
I bought this large macrame from my Springfield home to hang in our living room here. I like bringing a few things now and again from our home here as it just makes it feel a little more like a home to me. We also have the same Nashville spots illustration that Elsie has on her side. We gift these to all our guests along with a few other goodies. If you stay in our home I would LOVE to see or hear about it. Please tag us or leave us a review. It seriously warms my heart to think about other couples and families making memories in this house alongside Trey and I. Next up, I share more about the bedrooms and bathrooms. Thanks for letting me share! xo. Emma

it looks so good! i love all the plants too. do you mind if i ask if they’re real or fakes?
All fakes. We pretty much keep all fake plants in our short term rentals. Sometimes we have fresh flowers, but other than that we’re pretty scared of things not getting the attention they need so we just do fakes. 🙂
I have to say, lately I’ve learned the value of a comfortable couch….. and I can’t go back to couches like this…. someone needs to crest a cute couch that is comfy
Love everything about this one! So gorgeous!!
