Since many of us travel during the holidays, we thought it would be helpful to put together a list of our favorite crafts that can be done while traveling. Some of these projects are more appropriate if you’re on a road trip, and others perfect for a plane ride. Either way, you won’t have to miss out on craft-making this season—and so many of these projects would make great gifts! ????
A craft that you can make in the car … and then use in the car? Ha! It’s true. Make your own essential oil diffuser—they’re amazing.A couple hours will fly by when you make this adorable yarn wreath—it’s so easy, and you only need a few supplies.
Make your own set of oversized hair clips. We love how these dress up any outfit and they’re just FUN, you know?
Use our recipe card template so you can keep all of your favorite recipes in one place. You could even make cookies for a friend and include the recipe card. 🙂
Make a vintage-inspired raffia purse. This project is budget-friendly and easy to do—it just takes a little time!
Hand-stitch your own leather ornaments. Emma used different states, but the possibilities are endless.
Bring on the pom poms! We have several projects that only require them (plus some glue) like this photo frame and these magnets. You could also use marble tiles to switch things up.
If you already love embroidery (or have always wanted to learn how to do it), Sarah has a really great tutorial here (and a free cactus pattern). Looking for a quicker project? Make an embroidered photo frame like this one.
These photo keychains are the cuuutest. Use your own (printed) photos to make them extra special—and make some extra ones for stocking stuffers.
Makeup wipes that are good for the environment. And they can be made in a pinch.
Here’s one of the easiest things you can make while traveling.
Crochet coasters and drink covers. Great for passing the time! Click here for crochet instructions and more tutorials.
Do these make you want to decorate for Christmas immediately?? (Raises hand). Use pipe cleaners and metal hangers to make cute tree toppers.
Three ways to make baby headbands—no sewing needed!
Patches + glue = the coolest laptop case.
Simple sewing skills are needed for these cactus oven mitts, but this project would make traveling time go by super fast.
Elsie used black and white photos, yarn, and lace to make personalize gift tags. Nothing beats homemade. ❤️
Happy making this holiday season! xo. -The ABM team

I think I would find it a bit strange if someone seated next to me on a plane suddenly started making a bag, tbh. But the ideas themselves are great!
I love these! I am going to visit family over the Christmas holiday and I am definitely going to have some down time. I think I’ll pack some of these crafts to do while I’m there!
