Hello, babes! Today I’m going to be walking you through this smoky burgundy eye look. It can be a little intimidating trying out a smoky eye, especially with a little bit of color. But after some good ol’ blending, this type of look really pops and looks killer with every eye color. I kinda love that it has a little bit of a 90s grunge nod but is still completely appropriate for holiday parties and a night out with the girls.
Although one of my signature looks is a winged liner, I love that you can get away with no liner when doing a darker smoky eye. For those of you that love your winged liner too, you know how much time that can save! ๐
Step One: Using a shadow close to your skin tone, apply all over the lid to use as a base for your shadow. I’m using the color Peach Smoothie for this step.
Step Two: Using a medium sized fluffy brush, apply a slightly darker color to the crease of your eye. This will be our transition color. Using a windshield wiper motion, blend blend blend it into the crease. Seriously, blending makes this look, so don’t be afraid to go a little ham on the blending. ๐ For my crease, I used a tiny bit of the the color Sidekick.
Step Three: Now for the fun part. Using a small, flat brush, pack on your burgundy shadow color. Make sure you keep it just on the lid. It will look a little messy, but we’ll clean it up!
Step Four: Using your medium fluffy brush again, take a little of that base color you used in step one and start to blend out the crease of your burgundy to get rid of any harsh lines. This is the part that will need the most blending. The goal is to have your shadow look the darkest where your lash line is and then slowly fade into your skin tone. If you start to lose some of the color depth on your eyelid, just apply a tiny bit more of the burgundy, and then go back and blend. Blending with the lightest color will take away the harsh lines and make it so your color doesn’t go too far up on your lid. After blending out your lid, grab a lower lash brush and blend a tiny bit of that burgundy right under your eyes. Again, blend it out good so you don’t have any harsh lines. ๐
Step Five: To add a little bit of shine, I applied a small amount of burgundy metallic shadow to the center of my eyelid using my finger, and then with a smaller brush, applied a pretty champagne gold to my inner corners.
Step Six: Add a few layers of your most bombshell mascara, and if you’re feeling a little extra, add some false lashes for some drama, and you are done!
Just in case you’re curious, I’m wearing Bitter Pill on my lips and Heartbreaker lashes by House of Lashes. ๐ Rock your new burgundy eye look, friends! Lots of love, Sav.
