In the past I’ve been a known plant killer, and I’m not going to lie – it was 100% my fault. I can be very forgetful/inattentive and those two qualities don’t really mix with plant keeping. But then my grandma taught me to have a set day of the week that’s “plant watering day”. I actually have two days now (Wednesday and Sunday) due to frequent travel, guests and generally just being a little bit too busy. But hey, it’s helping… A LOT. I’ve only killed a few plants in our new home as opposed to all of them, all the time.
Haha! OK, one more confession – fake succulents and air plants. You can barely tell the difference, you guys! This is life changing!
Anyway, visiting nurseries is one of my favorite outings. On this particular day, I bought a cool tropical tree for my bedroom and a really good prickly pear cactus. Plants are definitely my favorite collection. I have so many, but I ALWAYS have room for one more.

Take it away, sister!!
Haha! Yes, you’d have to put me on the plant killer list too! It has been much better since I started working from home this past year. I’ve slowly started to grow my plant collection that I started with just one that I attempted to keep alive for three months. I let myself buy more after I proved (to myself) that I could keep that one guy alive. Now I’ve graduated to a small herb “garden” (it’s really a big pot) in my kitchen and SIX other potted plants around the house. So far, no deaths. But… we’ll see.

Maybe we should go plant shopping next time I visit Nashville, sis. I can always drive my new babies back home with me when I leave. 🙂 xx. Emma

Hi Elsie! What’s the name of this nursery? Maybe we will take a trip there when we visit Nashville in June (or if we do decide to move there) My husband is a green thumb for sure 🙂
Your sweater looks super cool Emma! And I do have the same problem as you Elsie, that idea with the watering day helped me so much as well!

I truly can’t grow anything either, yet one of my biggest apartment dreams us to have a kitchen garden. I’m loving how casual the outfits are

It’s called Hewitt’s and it’s in Franklin. It’s Incredible!!!! Best I’ve ever been to!

Orchids are pretty easy. No direct sun. Don’t have to water them.
The nursery is beautiful – thanks for the tip! We will definitely visit when we are next in Nashville.

Love this post! First of all, those outfits are adorable, I especially love Emma’s! Second, your hair is looking super long! (Both of you) Very pretty 🙂 And lastly, I am in the same boat with houseplants. I’ve never been able to successfully keep any alive for more than a few months! Now I have three in my house, a fiddle leaf fig, a bird’s nest fern, and a small grocery store basil plant 🙂 I love them and so far am doing a decent job of keeping them alive! I Like you said, I think having a watering day or two each week helps a lot!. Great post 🙂
LOL You two are too cute!! Love the scallop shorts- Do they run true to size?
I want to have plants at my house but I am too scared. I think they will not last (_emoji covering eyes)

My boyfriend is a plant killer. I cannot keep any at home because as soon as I leave for few days, they just die under his supervision!
Would love a blog post on your favorite faux succulents and air plants, as well as the planters you put them in!
Where do you get your believable faux air plants? I can’t keep them alive, but I love the way they look. Thanks!
Totally!! I think Laura and I can do that. :))

I am always checking all the big box craft stores. Michael’s is where I got the ones I have, I believe. Target and West Elm also sometimes have them.

These looks are so darling. And I love your plant commentary! Wandering through greenhouses and flower shops is one of my favorite summer pastimes! But I’m always buying succulents because they’re easier to keep alive! Too funny!

Cacti are a great choice! They love to be left unwatered. In rooms that have low light, I’ll also install daylight bulbs to help boost the plants. Cute outfits! 🙂

Oh I love plant shopping!

You two are just the cutest! Loving the Monday cheer!
My name would definitely be on the “plant killer” list too! haha!
And I am ALL about those fake plants. Target is a gold mine for those fake succulents, and you seriously can’t tell a difference, unless you touch it, of course! For now though, I’ve kept my aloe plant alive for over a month, and am considering that a triumph!
Love both of your styles on here, btw!

Elsie you are so brave to wear such a short dress being a lady with bigger thighs. You must have super self confidence
These photos are so cute! I can’t wait for Oui Fresh to launch! I NEED that white bag. So cute!
Emma, I LOVE the planter in your kitchen, and I love it even more knowing that it has herbs! Where do you ladies recommend buying hanging planters? The ones from Home Depot I have seen are not as pretty 😉
