A Beautiful Mess Shop is now up!!Today we are excited to announce that our new shop site is here! We've been working on this for quite some time (lots of late nights and weekends). It's hard to believe it's finally ready to share with you all!

Here's a rundown of the products you will currently find in our shop (and some of those with the coming soon status too): 

Photoshop Actions/ Fresh Before + After Sarah Rhodes and I teamed up to create three collections of Photoshop actions. The three collections represent the spectrum of photography styles we love and use for the different types of shoots here on A Beautiful Mess.

One million rounds of tweaks later… we're ready to share them with you! Here's a look at each set:The Signature Collection :: Photoshop Actions by A Beautiful MessThe Signature Collection We created this collection based on the editing style that we use for photos at A Beautiful Mess! We collected all of our go-to looks for the full range of photos we feature on the blog. The resulting collection is bright and cheerful, with a range of actions from soft to saturated. This collection has everything you need to create beautiful colorful images with just the right amount of signature style!The Fresh Collection :: Photoshop Actions by A Beautiful MessThe Fresh Collection This is a set of Photoshop actions with a bright and bold punch! We were inspired by bright whites, Palm Springs, modern design, 1960s, bold colors, and a fresh aesthetic when we created this set. These are some actions that will flatter bold patterns and texture, and pair well with your bright, sunny photos! This action set has everything you need to freshen up your photography style.The Folk Collection :: Photoshop Actions by A Beautiful MessThe Folk Collection When we started building the Folk Collection actions, we were most inspired by snapshots from road trips, nostalgia, new adventures, hot coffee, toy cameras, film, and dreary days-– all things we love to photograph and want to enhance and share on our blog. The Folk Collection is full of actions that are moody, bold, and full of character–great for adding to your photos of the simple everyday beauty around you.

Of course, if you love them all there is another option, The Complete Collection, that includes all of the actions and bonuses from each pack plus exclusive bonuses as well! It's the best deal too, making the third set half price! Crash Courses/ 

For our new site we've create three types of classes. The first is the crash course. Crash Courses are shorter (usually less than 10 sessions!), cheaper (usually under $10) and on more defined topics. They're the kind of course you could read in a night or on a weekend. 

We're super excited about Crash Courses because they give us the opportunity to really focus in on subjects that we love. For example, our literary agent Lindsay is writing a crash course (due out in April) about how to write and pitch a book proposal (exciting, yes?!!). 

E-Courses/ 

For the past few years we sold e-courses on subjects like blogging, art journaling, and small business. We LOVED teaching those courses and learned a ton. That experience was really what inspired us to develop this new site! 

On the new site we're offering new e-courses and also some 2.0 versions of courses we taught in the past. If you took one of our courses in the past you'll feel at home with a similar, comfortable format. E-Courses now come with a private Q&A page where students can ask the teacher questions and read through all the questions that other students have asked as well! 

The first e-course we're offering is 52 Weeks Of Art Journaling with Rachel Denbow. It's the perfect way to give yourself a creative kickstart week-by-week, all year long! 52 Weeks of Art Journaling E-Course (click through to register!!)

Workshops/ 

The last category of classes we're offering is Workshops. Workshops are special because they are interactive, class sizes are limited, and they run for a shorter time period. They are more structured and offer interaction with the teacher and other students through a private forum. Photography workshops include a private gallery for students to share their work and receive comments from classmates on photography assignments. 

The first workshop we're offering is Mastering Your DSLR with Candice Stringham. It's a beginner's guide to understanding your camera. This course covers all the different settings and controls on a DSLR for both Canon and Nikon users. Candice explains what they mean, when to use them, and most importantly, how to use them to get the look you want!Mastering Your DSLRThis class begins March 17th. Sign up soon to reserve your spot!

    I used a Maya Road chipboard album (8×8). It’s a binder so you can insert your pages without the plastic sleeves and the chipboard allows so many customization options. They’re at major craft stores or on Amazon.

January first of this year marked my one year anniversary (and yes, it is counted as an anniversary because it is a motive of celebration 🙂 ) of being a faithful follower of everything “A Beautiful Mess”.   • Super excited to take a peek at the new Photoshop actions! I was wondering, do you think these will ever be available for Lightroom? I have managed to condense my entire editing work flow (both for work as a full-tiume photographer and personal photos) to using just Lightoom because I find it to be so much faster. Just wondering! 🙂

  • Just one little suggestion: Mini action collections! I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to justify spending $50 on photoshop toys (I don’t personally need anything like this professionally) and the amount of actions is overwhelming in each! but I do see the value – and could see spending $10 or $15 on a smaller batch! They are soo pretty!!

  • Will the ecourse for DSLR cameras be offered in the summer as well? It’s really snowy where I live so I don’t anticipate getting outside to take pictures for the course right now. But I’d love to take it in the summer!

  • The Fresh Collection looks perfect although I’m not sure I entirely understand what it is or how it works – is it something that you install and it’s basically like Instagram on Photoshop? Or is it tutorials instructing you on how to get that specific finish? 🙂

  • Yes! We know Nikons and Canons really well but we can help with Sony’s too. The class is actually designed to help you work to understand your manual better so it would really work with any DSLR.

Thanks for your hardwork, we really feel it trought your post that you you put your heart in every project and this might be the most interesting about it all! I’m reading A beautiful Mess since more than 5 years and i’m rarely leaving comments (because of my bade english, i’m from Montreal.. French ya know!) but this post made want to do so.     I had asked on Monday if you would ever have your Photoshop actions available for Lightroom and you said that there might be a workaround to make them work in Lightroom and to stay tuned …

    Does the workaround mean that if I purchase them right now (for Photoshop) they might later work in Lightroom or would I have to re-purchase them again? Because I’m pretty much dying to play with them RIGHT NOW, haha. (But for me having them in Lightroom makes way more sense.)

    The Photoshop actions will not work in Lightroom – There’s a complicated process to get your photos in Lightroom to export, save, open in Photoshop, run the action, and then save again, but you still have to have Photoshop unfortunately, and it doesn’t allow you to customize your actions. We’re working on coming up with maybe a little something for Lightroom specifically in the future! So I really wouldn’t recommend purchasing the actions right now unless you have Photoshop! Hope that helps! 🙂 -Sarah

  • This might be a silly question, but do these actions only work with RAW setting photographs? For example, could I apply them to some vacation photos I snapped with a point and shoot? Just curious if they are similar to the VSCO/lightroom actions that only work with RAW photographs… Thanks so much!
