This time of year I’m always thinking about all the holiday parties that crop up. From Thanksgiving to various Friendsgivings, there’s so many excuses to dress up a bit and get fancy, which means trying out new up dos. I recently tried this new look and I love how it came out. Simple, but elegant and a little bit quirky.Step one: Separate your hair into three ponytails, one on top of the other. I try to make them about equal in size, but my top ponytail always ends up being the biggest!
Step two: Braid each ponytail.
Step three: Pancake each braid for slightly bigger/fuller braids; you can pancake/loosen them up as much as you want for a fuller/messier look.
Step four: Wrap the top braid around into a loose bun and pin in place with a few bobby pins.
Step five: Wrap the bottom braid around in a loose bun and pin in place with a few bobby pins.
Step six: Take the middle braid and wrap it around the bottom bun and loop the end up towards the top bun, pinning it in place with a few bobby pins.
And this is what the style looks like from the side. Two elegant stacked braided buns that look far more complicated than they are. Wrapping the middle braid around the bottom bun and then tucking it into the top one gives a sense of flow between the two buns and makes it look like a figure eight—to me at least! A perfect little up-do dressy enough for a holiday, but relatively easy to master. Cheers, Rebecca.

This is definitely something I could easily do on my own! Love the elegance and how it keeps me hair out of my face, bonus!
Yes! I love any braid that starts in a ponytail b/c there’s almost no chance of the hair slipping out and it makes everything so much easier!
I am still all thumbs when it comes to braiding my own hair. A trim would probably help, but they always end up off kilter. I’ll save it though for when I’ve got a victim, I mean buddy, getting ready with me.
I’m the opposite! My friends often ask me to do their hair but I’ve only ever practiced on myself so without my arms bending backwards I turn into all thumbs–as strange as that sounds! :p
That one looks so extraordinary, cool!

Thank you! 🙂
That looks amazing, wish I had the ability but I can just about manage one basic plait on my own let alone anything more creative.
It looks easy, but will it look good on everyone? I think you need long thick hair so it will look really nice. It’s great if you are wearing a turtle neck or collar.
