Hello friends! I just wanted to let all of you know what the A Beautiful Mess Book Club will be reading in February. I'm excited to crack open my copy of The Fault in our Stars by John Green. I keep hearing wonderful things about this book! I think they're already working on making it into a movie. So, be sure to pick up (or download) a copy for February.
We will be discussing the January book selection, The Interestings, very soon! Join us Friday, January 31st, for that. And in case you're like, "Hey, what's this book club thing?" Check out this post and get with the program, yo. xo. Emma

I really loved this book. It was so touching and so funny at the same time.
one of my favorites at the moment.
The film has already wrapped filming, and it’s in the editing process now. Opens June 6th!
I just got this at the library. I heard SO MANY people rave about it, I had to see what the fuss was about. ๐

I really liked this book. I’m really looking forward to the movie. It was filmed in my hometown (Pittsburgh)!! ๐
This is the best book i read in 2013! Enjoy your read and keep tissues on your side!
Love, Kathy
Downloading my copy now! I’m new to your blog or blogging at all.. Seems like a fun “project” since I love reading and haven’t read a book since the Hunger games came out. Ps. Your blog is very inspiring, thank you for sharing!!! Xo Evelyne
This is my all-time favourite book. If it’s your first time reading it you’re in for quite the emotional roller coaster! Such a beautiful story though. I’m so excited for the movie coming out in June!
I love this book! Can’t wait to re-read and discuss with y’all ๐
Although it felt hokey at first, I fell in love with this book by end, because, honestly, how can you not just absolutely love John Green? Enjoy this one, ladies!
I just finished “The Fault In Our Stars”, I really enjoyed it! I’m pretty sure you should like it too. Even though it deals with quite young characters, you can still relate!
Grab a box of Kleenex before you read it. Its a tear-jerker.
This has been on my list of books to read for ages! Now I have the perfect excuse to buy and read it (quickly). Lovely idea, can’t wait to get involved. Leanne x

I loved this book. Great choice.
This makes me extremely happy! I am an avid John Green reader, and I couldn’t recommend a book more. Prepare to cry, though!
Ahhhh, just finished reading this! So touching, I cried through probably the last quarter of the book. Looking forward to reading your thoughts…
Perfect timing! I’m about halfway through this book and loving it so far.
Just put it on hold at the library! Excited!

I love this idea! I have made it a goal of mine to read one book a month, starting with some that I already own/am in the middle of, but this is great. I know a lot of people loooove this book and I’m a huge fan of reading books before they hit the big screen! I’ll definitely be joining ๐
The book was just amazing. I was absolutely hooked whilst reding it. Even though its supposed to be a teenage book it’s really nicely written and very heartbreaking.
I’m so excited for this month’s book! “The Interestings” was great and I can’t wait for the book discussion this Friday!

I absolutely loved loved loved this book. And his other one: ‘Looking for Alaska’.
This man has a true talent. I laughed out loud several times, and also bursted into tears several times. To me that means it’s a really good book.
I’ve been meaning to read this one for a while and now I’ve found my motivation!
Oh, this was a nice reading! I read it like in two days, couldn’t stop myself. Can’t wait to read the discussion for this book. x
this book is really great! good choice.
I love this book! It touches important life/death topics on a childish and not nicely wrapped way. My friend from the other side of the world recently lost someone and I have just wrapped it and sent it to her last week. Enjoy reading it!
Ooh I just bought that a few weeks ago but I haven’t started it yet, now I’m really excited to read it and discuss it with you guys!
Yay! John Green is such a wonderful writer, I adore him. This book is fantastic, can’t wait to join in the discussion at the end of the month!
I just finished this book! It was so good – funny, insightful, touching. Enjoy!
I have been wanting to check out this book, so I am definitely joining in this month.
oooh just what i’m looking for! i have been wanting some book recommendations and ideas.

I HAD to pick up game of thrones (the five book download) when you started the book club!!! I’d like to branch out from my paranormal/true crime/fantasy books I’ve been reading as of late, but I’m already on page 2000 and change out of close to 5000 pages…so I’m going to finish come hell or high water!! I’ll pick up the book club around May (if it’s still going strong).

Yes! I’m so excited to read this!

this book was a quick read but left an impact.

This book was amazing – I read it over Christmas. I have just purchased three other books by John Green in the hope that they will impress me as much as this one did.

yay, another nerdfighter reading abeautifulmess ๐ DFTBA
Oh yay! This is on my to-read list!
Just started this book! So glad I now have even more of a motivator to read it. Looking forward to discussion! ๐
i felt bad that i couldn’t do January because i didn’t want to buy the book if im being honest but then i saw that this is February’s pick and i was like heck yea!

i cant wait for February’s discussion!
im a huge john green fan.
if you get spare time you should read paper towns!
that’s the reason i fell in love with him (actually first through Amanda Hockings) but still, no matter what book of his you get first you will fall in love!

I’ve already read this one but it’s so good I may read it again! I got a late start on The Interestings, hopefully I can finish this week.
Trust me, you’re going to love it! One of my ultimate favourite books.
http://www.sincerelybrionybea.blogspot.co.uk
Oh, how wonderful! How will the “discussions” go?
I just ordered this for my Kindle the other day to start on. I’ve heard so many good things about this book. Can’t wait to get reading x
Yay!!! I’m currently reading this book right now! ๐
Yes, the movie will be coming out in June! John Green is an excellent writer, and this is the first book that was optioned and actually MADE into a movie, instead of just sitting on the back burner.
Yesterday, John Green tweeted that, for the first time since the book was released 2 whole years ago, it reached #1 Amazon bestseller. I can’t help but think that your book club had a little something to do with it. And I’m so glad because, two years later, this book is still relevant, still captivating and gaining audiences. I really hope everyone who reads it enjoys it! ๐
This was seriously one of the best books I’ve read in a while. I laughed, I cried, and I thought deep thoughts. If you don’t get something out of this book, then you’re probably a robot cyborg or something.
i love this book so much. good choice!
This book is fantastic…I just finished reading it and my 16 year old daughter read and loved it too! A wonderful story. Just one word of caution – put this book on hold at your local library asap or plan on buying it. It’s that good. Everyone wants to read it ๐
This was one of the few books I literally cried while reading certain passages. It is a lovely, sad, touching story and I highly recommend the bool to anyone!
this was a great book!
I’ve been wanting to rea this for so long but it is always on hold at the library! I will have to scout one out this month for sure now.
I have never cried over a book like I did with Fault in Our Stars. I highly recommend…lol. It was very cathartic.
I don’t know if your book club has read it (also, I plan on joining for February!) but one of my FAVORITES is The Rosie Project. It should be the March book!
Yikes I just got my January book! There were 6 holds on it before mine. Here’s to speed reading! Thank you for doing this book club!!
OK, I totally missed out on last month, but I am jumping on this one because it has been on my reading list for a long time.
looove this book!! one of my faves
xxoo,

oh thanks! i’ve been meaning to read this and keep forgetting. going over to the library’s site to check it out RIGHT NOW.
very emotional, but awesome book……
Prepare to cry like a baby! Seriously.
This book is amazing, I look forward to joining the end-of-Feb conversation! Enjoy!
I am in the middle of this right now. It is a really lovely book so far.
I got this for my sister for Christmas but I’d love to read it myself. x
http://moiraparton.blogspot.co.uk/
Being a writing student I don’t usually read young adult fiction, but I did set aside my prejudice for this book. I’ve read it three times now. It’s one of my favourites and speaks to people of all ages. I hope everyone reading it with you enjoys it as much as I did and still continue to.
Great book. I did a review of it on my blog a few months ago. http://gnomelover.com/2013/08/23/reading-the-fault-in-our-stars/
No spoilers, except to say it is really, really sad.
Jenni
That is such a good book, I really loved it.
Reading it now! Can’t put it down.
This book is so amazing! It’s absolutely perfect. Great choice!
I just read this book for my “Book-A-Month” challenge for January! It’s great and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.
I actually just wrote about it too on my blog.
Great choice, Emma!

I love TFIOS!
http://talisatalksbeauty.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/soap-and-glory-solar-power.html
I read this already! It’s widely famous and coming out in movie. It wasn’t as sad or good as everyone else made it out to be, but it was still worth the read.

Just downloaded my copy… can’t wait to participate! ๐
This is a good choice. I enjoyed reading this book. =D They casted Shailene Woodley for the main role.
Can’t wait!
Read this book a few months back and thought it was pretty good. Guess Ill have to wait til March for that pick ๐ Love that you ladies are doing a blog centered version of a book club. Right up my alley!
I have my thoughts ready for the 31st! I’m kinda dreading this next book – my sister cried her eyes out reading it – but I’m going to stick through it…I think.
Yes, I keep hearing about it too. Must be good. Fingers crossed!
-Emma
Welcome friend!
-Emma
Really?! How cool. What town do you live in, if you don’t mind me asking? I guess we might be finding out as we read this book anyway?
-Emma
Three cheers for Hunger Games! I think I read those in about a week. I didn’t talk to anyone all week. Just read. It was a problem. ๐
-Emma
Oh man. I need to stock up on tissues it sounds like. I’m a cryer, for sure.
-Emma
Yes, I love getting to read a book before seeing the movie. Not sure why this is, just always fun to do it in that order for me.
-Emma
I hear you. I’m a BIG lover of fantasy books too. I’ve been holding off getting into the game of throne series bc I figure I probably won’t read anything else for like 2 years with how slow of a reader I am. ๐
Looking forward to May. In the mean… winter’s coming.
-Emma
It’s our first one, so, honestly I’m not all that sure. I’ve outlined about five discussion topics that everyone can leave comments on. And we can reply to each other. We’ll see how that goes this month. I’m totally open to suggestions for coming months!
-Emma
You can do it Tiffany!!!!!!!!
-Emma
Be strong. We’ll all be crying with you anyway.

This book is so great. I had all the feels while reading it.
Such a wonderful selection. It’s a beautiful and wonderful novel!
Oh my goodness, this book is so good. I did cry through a significant chunk of it towards the end. But, only because the story is so beautiful! You’ll love it ๐
Heard so many people raving about this book

Yeahh… this one comes in Danish too – I’m in… can’t wait to read it ๐
French the llama, two nerdfighters!! ๐
You’ll love this book ๐
I do need to re read this book before the movie comes out (for the millionth time) but it’s too far away still. I’ll have to skip this! I’ve re-read it too many times already haha I’ll do it again in June!
After reading the description of the next book, I’m interested! My husband has had the same friends since a very young age, so I feel that I will be able to relate to the book.
I love John Green, and pretty much everything he is involved with, but I (personally) do not like his writing (if your wondering what an author is involved in other than his writing, take a google of Vlogbrothers, Vidcon, CrashCorse, The Art Assignment or Project for Awesome. This guy does an array of amazing things with his brother). But I bought The Fault in Our Stars for three other people for christmas. So it’s not as if I think it’s a bad book, his characters just really do not resonate with me. I’m extremely interested to see what everyone thinks of it when we discuss it at the end of Feb. I have such mixed feelings.
I just started reading Game of Thrones too.. I was having a major GOT craving and youtube videos just weren’t doing it for me anymore.
my post about the interestings is going up tomorrow but I have already read Green’s The Fault in our Stars. Buuuut, it was good enough to read again. I am in.
This book tore my heart out and stomped all over it. It seriously took a few days to recover from it. That said, it is AMAZING, and it hurt in the best way!
Absolutely love this book, in fact it is one of my favorite books ever (which is really saying something!) Definitely stock up on the tissues! Can’t wait for the movie in June ๐ (the trailer actually premieres tomorrow, so just in time, huh?)
I have yet to read this!! but I HAVE TOOO
The Artistically Challenged: Beauty, Fashion, Music, Lifestyle Blog
This book is in my favorites list! I’m sure you guys will fall in love with it too. It’s inspiring, thought provoking and makes you ponder about the importance of life, love, family and friends. Very well written by Mr. Green. Hats off to him! Have fun reading it and prepare lots of tissue. ๐

I would loooove to participate! As a fellow book lover this just makes me giddy with excitement ๐
Just got it! Can’t wait to read it!
Hilary x thehealthycollective.com
I read it last year and, don’t get me wrong I really liked the story, but I felt as if something was missing, but I would definitely recommend it. I downloaded a copy of the January book but couldn’t get around to read it, I hope maybe next week!!
Uh oh…. I haven’t finished the Interestings yet! The time just got away from me. ๐
Trish
Oh, dear, I just finished TFIOS, and it was INCREDIBLE! Great choice! Brace yourself; it has some pretty heavy moments. It’s completely raw and beautiful. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! ๐
Read this book in one very easy few hour sitting… wow. Such amazing writing! So very good but you better have a box of tissues ready!
I’m so excited for this one! I loved the fault in our stars and can’t wait for the movie!

I love this book! I really love the plot, and the message John Green puts into it is really moving and makes you think. Such a great pick! ๐

One of my absolute favorites! Curled up in a ball by my fireplace and sobbed through the last 100 pages. A beautiful read. xo
Picked this book up months ago but with the holidays (and then even more new books!) it somehow got lost in the mix. Glad to now have a great reason to read it. Excited to finally be in a book club!
It’s so gorgeous. My manly thought I’d lost it when he found me inconsolable. It’s beautiful.
I really want to read this!
Amelia Rose | Beauty Blogger
Looks like a great read. I might add that to my ’25 books for 2014′ challenge ๐
I’ve read it! It is really amazing! ๐

And another one!
Nerdfighters really are everywhere ๐
This is one of those books that I’ve been meaning to read for the longest time. Hopefully, book club will motivate me to finally crack it open and give it a shot. xoxo
I loved this book but it killed my heart. I am a young widowed person and my partner passed away in 2012 from a brain tumor. All I can say is, the author got a lot right about the experience of cancer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ItBvH5J6ss
It’s the trailer for the movie so SPOILERS! ๐
This book is ABSOLUTELY my favorite of all time. I can’t wait to read about what you think of it! So much more than young adult fiction – this book is food for the soul of any age.
Make that 4! Nerdfighters unite! MAN do I love this book!
this book is so good, it breaks my heart. definitely going to re-read, can’t wait for the movie to be released in the UK.
I literally tore through this book in the last 24hrs! You will for sure need to stock up on those tissues! It was a fantastic read!
I loved this book!! I had my husband concerened because of my sobbing while reading this.Looking forward to see what people have to say about the book..I have a date with my friends to see this movie when it releases.
This book is amazing!
This one is already on my to-read list! I am about 65/70 percent done with The Interestings… need to hurry in time for Friday!! Off I go…
Thanks for rescuing me from my Nora Roberts binge. (Seriously, like 11 in two months). Just about to hop in bed and finish The Interestings, and have this one downloading now! How/what time is the book discussion going to happen on Friday?
I’ve been wanting to re-read this before the movie comes out so this is awesome! Really looking forward to see what everyone thinks about it ๐
I watched the movie trailer today and oh man… I’m going to be a total crying mess when I see it this summer lol
Five nerdfighters, now! This is my favourite book ever. xx
Oh my gosh!!! I’m so happy with this month’s ABM book club selection. Like others have said, it was the best book I read in 2013 and I have relentlessly pushed it towards others ever since reading it! ๐ Emma, you should definitely stock up on those tissues.. it gets very emotional. Can’t wait to reread with you all!
My favorite blog featuring my favorite book.. I am DEFINITELY joining.
This is such a wonderful book! The trailer for the movie is already out and I cried and laughed watching it. Just as I did while I read the book. This story is a gem.
Cool you did choose a book translated in French! I will be so happy to participate this time
Thank for sharing one of my favorite books!!
And they ARE making it in to a movie soon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9ItBvH5J6ss
Would still really recommend reading the first first! it is sweet, funny and very heart warming. John Green is an amazing writer – 20 something’s point of view. ๐
I just wrote a post yesterday on my blog about how I am not really into reading, but My friends and I are planning a trip to NYC to watch this movie opening weekend, and so I plan to start this book this weekend!!!
I am totally going to join your book club! Thanks!
I’ve read that! It’s a great and fast read! (Though not exactly light)
GET ON GOODREADS
Hey ABM. It is taking me forever to get through The Interestings. Ironically, I have not found it very interesting. I’m hoping things pick up as I get deeper into it. I have already read The Fault in Our Stars. I should say, I listened to the audiobook. I have to say that I didn’t really like it. It really felt like a book for a much younger audience. I am so curious to hear you talk about each book. I read some of the books from Emma’s old blog, some really fun reads.
so sad….i am currently number 78 in the cue to borrow this book from my library! I am thinking i might get it by next February?! I fared slightly better with the interestings, i am number 13. Either way, i will never get them in time to join in the fun, boo hoo me. (Am way too poor to purchase sadly…double boo hoo me) ;o)
I thought I would start the February book club choice early incase I didn’t finish it time, finished it in 2 days! One minute I was crying the next laughing. It’s a very emotional book, but also very brave. Enjoy.
I’ve had this one on my shelves for a while and I’m really excited to read it. I read Looking for Alaska by John Green some weeks ago, but unfortunately it didn’t turn out to be as great as I had hoped. I really hope I like this one better!
I’m going to join in this one even though I’m still getting through my Christmas gift reading! The Interestings isn’t in paperback yet in the UK so I’m avoiding your post from today until later in the year.
Ah! I already finished it – what a moving and inspirational story of love on all levels!
Okay, you’ve finally convinced me to pick up this book! I’ve been wanting to read it, but also avoiding it because I know what it’s about. Here goes nothing…
I’m excited to read the book before the movie comes out! I’ll watch the movie if I like the book. It’s nice to have the trailer as a sneak peek for what the book is about (even though I know there will be some differences between the book and the movie).
I’ve always wanted to join a book club. Also, everybody’s talking about this book – enough reasons to start reading it (after I finish my current book).
I was hoping there would be some nerdfighter comments about this… we’re all over the internet haha.
I just finished reading this book last week! It’s absolutely one of the best books I have read since the Harry Potter series ( HP nerd ). I love the idea of a book club, I would love to participate! I’m excited to see what we will be reading next month. (:
I’ve read this a few times already, so I’ll keep schtum for now, but suffice to say, it’s WONDERFUL. Beautifully written, interesting and quirky characters, and moments of philosophy and wisdom. (Can you tell I love it?!)
I look forward to commenting properly once everyone else has read the book (and if you don’t weep copiously, I would suggest getting your tear ducts checked by an expert…)
I read this book [as an ebook] last summer – and then went out and bought a hardcover copy [so I could keep it forever] and read it again about a month later. It was so good. SO. GOOD. I tell everyone about it! It’s definitely made my favourites list. ๐ Enjoy!
So exciting! Just e-purchased my copy… I suppose I can take a break from LOTR for now to read along with you ladies. ๐ Have a happy weekend.
I love this book and all of the John Green books! If you haven’t read the other ones yet I definitely recommend them!
This has to be my all-time favourite book. I got the copy back in 2012, and I still don’t get tired of the story. It’s a big part of my life, I think. I’m writing a fan-fiction/novel on it!
I’ve loved A Beautiful Mess since I was twelve (I’m fourteen now) and I’m thrilled there’s a book club now! Elsie and Emma, your work and crafty-ness has inspired me wayy too much. x
Bought the kindle version yesterday and i’m already half way now! A very good story indeed (so far I just cried once ๐ )
This book was our book-club’s september’13 read. I cried for many things that happened in this book. It is beautifully narrated. I can’t wait to discuss and share more!
The book is actually set in Indianapolis.
Ordered my copy on Friday and it should come today! So excited!
I’ve been meaning to read this, thanks for the reminder!
I saw this Saturday night and downloaded it and started reading it. I finished last night, I couldn’t put it down, I had to finish it! I absolutely loved this story!!
Thanks for putting this book in for the book club this month, i’ve just finished it. I was totally gripped to this moving, heartfelt book. I’m looking forward to discussing it at the end of the month and seeing what March’s book is ๐ Thanks Emma!
this book will make you laugh until your stomach hurts and cry until the words blur and people think you’re having a meltdown.
it’s amazing
Melanie: I have finished this book already! I couldn’t put it down. It’s a must read….
Ohh Hello!! I really love this book, I read it and touched my heart. It’s sad, but also has many really funny parts. I like a lot! I would like to be part of the discussion of the book, I’m from Venezuela and I always read this ad. Hugs!!
Love this book! I finished it in 3 days straight and erm…cry a bucket of tears.
I love this book, good choice! Was recommends by one of my students, get prepared to shed a tear!
I LOVED this book. Just finished it last week…and am already itching to re-read it. Excited to discuss! ๐
SO EXCITED TO DISCUSS THIS!
Ha, I had completely forgotten about TFIOS being this month’s book ๐ I finished it a couple of days ago!
Another Pittsburgher. Where you ankle to credit the set? I was lucky abs actually got to meet John, Ansel, and Nat.
I finished it in three days…Fastest I have ever read a book. Loved it.
thanks
cant wait for March!!!
Kim Bolyard
I’m almost finished it – I’m reading it as an audiobook and it’s so moving. I’ve been crying in public on the bus!
I am so excited for this, I have been looking for a book club that I could do online and this is perfect.
I got to the library and there were 6 copies of this book there. I figured why not! So, I picked it up and started reading it, got nearly half-way before receiving a call that I was supposed to be elsewhere. The book grabbed me like that, I finished it that night! Made me nearly cry, such a good book! ๐
Thank you girls for this book club, I decided to join it a little late, two weeks ago, from the other side of the world (Italy here) and I bought this book. I have to admit I actually devoured it… but I am saving my comments for the discussion post:-))anyway, I loved it.
I teach grade 8 (in Kuwait) and a group of last year’s students (Grade 9s now) told me I MUST read this book (In fact they told me my opinion on other books was irrelevant until I read this one.) Then it popped up as the book club book on ABM. Amazing. So I read it. I started it on a Saturday morning and couldn’t put it down. I ended up canceling all my plans just because I was so in to it! WOW. What a great book and a great choice! Loved it! xo.
already finished it … can you already tell what the next book will be? i don’t want to lose time ๐
I have just borrowed the interestings from the library so will add this one to the reading list as well – it’s so good to have an inspirational reading list, thanks for the great book club idea!
Hi Elsie and Emma, from the Peak District, England UK! How do I join your book group? I love the idea of all reading together and meeting online. I already belong to a small local group – we’re reading a Casual Vacancy at the moment (JK Rowling) so I’ll maybe not have much reading time spare this month! Best wishes from over here, Marion
I just bought it. Everyone is talking about it now. I’ll read it and come back for comments ๐
I;ve just bought it and everyone is talking about it. I’ll read it and come back for comments!
This is such a great book. I’m happy I read it!!!
I loved this book. You girls are going to love it. But, make sure you have some tissues close by.
When are you discussing this one ? Just wondering if it’s too late to start reading ? Thanks x I wonder if I could squeeze it in in time ! x
Such an amazing book, it made me laugh, and cry and I absolutely fell in LOVE with Augustus :))
This book is so lovely ๐ You really do need the tissues though, I was all out crying in parts lol
