Hey friends! Ready to talk about bathrooms some more? It’s our favorite subject around here.
The new space has one and a half bathrooms. This one is located on the second floor at the top of the stairs. It had a little more space than the tiny half bath, and we’re excited to give it a makeover! Here’s the “before”:
Here’s the view looking in from the doorway. When we bought the house it had yellowed linoleum, fake tile panels on the walls and no light fixture. On the plus side, it has a large cabinet for storage and a big, beautiful window! Here’s a look from the other direction. You can see here that nothing is in the best condition, and the whole room is generally in need of a little refresher.
I’ve talked about this before, but that’s IDEAL for us. We were happy that the house hadn’t been newly updated, because the selling price didn’t reflect those updates. And we got to pick out everything from scratch! Since this room has a little more floorspace we’re going to seize the opportunity to do something fun and experimental with tile.
Here are a few of our inspirations:Images via Home Depot + Too Da Loos.
We want to try making a pattern or shape from small tile (kinda like this?), and it is the most fun project ever! Can you guess what we chose? I promise to share updated photos soon.
We’ve got big ideas for this cute little bathroom. In addition to the new tile on the floors we picked out new tile for the walls and the shower area. We picked a new pedestal sink since the previous one was cracked. We’re excited to make a DIY shower curtain soon and some art for the walls.
Thanks so much for taking a look at our project house. I only have a few more rooms to share “before” photos of and then it’s time to share updates. We’re still planning projects for the bathrooms. Do you have any requests? xo. Elsie

I’m loving this series at the moment and I can’t wait to see some after photos. It must e so much fun to decorate a second house and experiment on everything at the same time. We are doing up our bathroom soon (hopefully) and I love your style so I’m watching to see what you do. Thanks for being so inspiring. Zoe. http://tadpegs.blogspot.co.uk
I really love that black ceiling. I’d totally do something like that in our bathroom but I want to be able to see if the neighbors’ upstairs are leaking. Saving that idea for our next place where there won’t be water pipes above us! Also love those light bulbs, soooo beautiful and it makes me so sad that they’re so expensive and I’ll never be able to convince myself that they’re a practical purchase…
I’m so looking forward to this series! Looks like you guys have a really great blank canvas to do what you do best!
This is like the best blog in the world, Love the new look =)
That is one of the oddest sink locations that I have ever seen. What is up with that?
I love the inspiration bathroom. Can’t wait to see what y’all do.
I would of never thought to paint my ceiling black but after seeing this I’m in love with the idea! It adds a classic feel to the room Sierra Calah ♡ Berry Stylish
As an aside… my first reaction when I saw your bathroom is that it’s comparable to the size of my NYC studio.
Good luck on the redesign!

I love the first photo you displayed with the hanging glass light fixtures and that apothecary table would be amazing to store toiletries in! Such a fun part of the process, love how much natural light the bathroom gets already, great for putting on makeup <3 xoxo

I love watching all the progress in your “Project House”. LOVE LOVE LOVE the clawfoot tub! and the storage table next to the bathroom. Looks like a library card holder.
@Madame Ostrich, i was thinking the same thing. I think that bathroom is the size of our bedroom here in Vancouver, BC!
I´m looking forward to your after-pictures of your studiohouse 🙂
Girls, do I have the best DIY for you!
Many moons ago I visited the studio of a ceramic artist in Stockholm and was so inspired by her work. While I was there she was in the midst of renovating the kitchen in the back of her studio and I got to watch her make her own tiles for the backsplash. Since then I have been dreaming up designs for myself to make the day I renovate.
I think this would be a great DIY for you too! Just a little tip from me 🙂 Thank you for the best blog ever!
I can’t wait to see what you girls came up with!
loving this
I’m looking forward to all your updates! So excited!
i have a teeny tiny bathroom. can you show how to increase storage while keeping it stylish??

The tile….I love it! I recently saw a pretty teal/aqua tile…but I feel like those colors go out of style, whereas white it ALWAYs in style! hah!
My master bath has that small honeycomb tile on the floor with white grout. It’s hard to clean. We’re toying around with the idea of replacing it. Lots of scrubbing with brushes.
I have a request for the smallest room in the house. Are their any cute ideas for renovating little toiletrooms that are not in the bathroom? Thx!
I love the red & white graphic tile idea! I can’t wait to see what you actually do!!
I like the red pattern made of tiles, it makes the bathroom into an art piece. So cool can’t wait to see the finished look!

Will you be taking the old tile off the walls yourself and if so, could you share how? Both of our bathrooms have old square tile that I would love to remove someday. Or do you have any ideas for painting it? Thanks for all your ideas!! Can’t wait to see the whole house finished!
I love being able to transform rooms with beginnings of a new look, there’s nothing like taking a vision and making it come alive. I love the first photo! I can’t wait to see the after photos.
Love this inspiration! Honeycomb tile is my favorite! I can’t wait to see updates of the entire studio!!

I’m loving seeing all these before photos – I can’t wait to see them all finished too! I think I’m most excited about the bathroom update (and the DIY shower curtain) as we’ve just started re-doing our bathroom up and I’d love to see some inspiration from you guys!
Have a lovely week!
Can’t wait to see the finished room! I saw a heart shaped pattern on Instagram and i loved it!
I love the colorful tile pattern and just about everything in the first picture. I can hardly wait to see the transformation.

At least it is a good size! If I had a window in my bathroom, I would starch a really fun and bod print fabric to cover it and it still would let light in!
I want to see more of this very very much! Can’t wait to see changes!!

As a new homeowner who is still figuring out our personal style, I love all of these posts! I would love to see/hear ideas for art/decor options for a bathroom because I want things that will hold up with any humidity that may result from showers.
Thank you so much for sharing!

I love all the photos and dream of a larger bathroom. The color blocking is out of control!
