Hi, friends! I am so excited to introduce my new effects +pack for our app, A Color Story! This is the first pack that I have personally done since the launch of our app last year, and I am so proud of how it turned out.
In past years, I avoided anything but perfectly even lighting, but recently I got a little bored with that and became inspired by playing with light! The inspiration behind my new effects pack came about when I was trying to find creative ways to add light, blur and glow to my photos. I love shooting through crystals, partially blocking my lens with transparent objects, playing with my disco ball during magic hour and embracing harsh, imperfect light.
These lighting situations can be more challenging to capture with a phone than a DSLR camera, so I created a pack of effects that simulates and enhances some of these looks. They blend with your photos. You can turn the effects down for a softer look. And the coolest part about our effects is you can move and rotate them with your finger. So no two photos look the same!

I have been testing these effects for over a month now and there are endless ways to use them, combine them and get creative with them.
And since my favorite part about doing apps is seeing what other people do with them, here are some images created with Glow by one of my very favorite photographers, Arielle Vey.

Every day I take a picture of something I saw or experienced that made my heart happy and/or gave me insight, so I can look back on my IG and appreciate my life and the beauty in this world. It’s a nice little break from the lunacy going on out there. And I always look forward to popping the photos into A Color Story to bring them back to how I remember feeling when I took the pictures (As I typed that word, The Cure’s Pictures of You started playing…aw!). ACS never fails to visually reclaim that moment. I already snagged the Glow pack and I already love it…cannot wait to use it in combo with my favorite filter packs (Flashes of Delight + Candy Minimal). You’ve done beautiful things. Thank you for always inspiring and uplifting!
Playing with non-perfect lighting creates some awe-inspiring effects. Perfect lighting isn’t always available, I can’t wait to check out these new effects on the app 🙂
Love the new look but have one suggestion. It’s frustrating to click on the title of a blog post from the main page and then to click Read More. If I click on the title, the post should open without that extra click.
Can’t wait to try this out! Experimenting with photos is my favorite pastime! Love.

SO Amazing! I’m confused about one thing – I just downloaded a color story and chose the option go buy a packet – for 9.99. Then I saw that glow is separate so I added that too- but which filters come with the 9.99 pack? So excited !
Hi Erin! The Story Collection comes with the filter packs Chroma, Blush, Fresh, B&W, Airy, Organic and Boho. It also comes with the Flare&Bokeh, Lights Leaks and Color Fog Effects!
