Yes to pie for sure! Decorate for Halloween/Autumn in the next week or so (I hope!), and watch “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” at least 3 times with my kiddos:)
Pie for sure. I made four for my hubby’s birthday on Sunday. Next is driving through the mountains by my house to look at leaves.
My favorite Autumn tradition is knitting knitting knitting! Listening to vinyl, and drinking warm apple cider.
Autumn is the best.

stepping on crunchy leaves :o)
I love everything about Autumn! The clothes (sweaters, leggings, tights, peacoats, etc), the drinks (hot tea, cider, yummy seasonal flavored coffees), holidays (halloween, thanksgiving), rain!, cuddling, making yummy soup (my favorite is veggie dumpling), candles and fires in the woodstove, lovelovelove it <3
Definitely inspired a Autumn post on my own blog π
Oh my goodness, I’m loving that sweet dog! With two toddlers in the house, we do all manner of leaf-related activities: rubbing, painting, piling & sorting… and we’re hoping to go apple picking and to a pumpkin patch. I make apple crisp constantly!
Soooooo jealous of people who get to do all the fun autumn things! Here in AZ it stays hot til almost november!! :0(
in here, there’s no a haloween tradition π
ENVY..
Love this list! I have a similar one every year that I never seem to accomplish – maybe this year I will actually carve a pumpkin (haven’t done that since childhood) and visit a corn maze. Happy Autumn!
yay for pumpkin seeds!
I love to go apple picking (and then make tons of apple related goodies…^_^), drink apple cider, and carve pumpkins. π
Pumpkin-carving, buying sweet corn & apple cider from a roadside stand, passing out candy to trick-or-treaters, wearing my boots as often as possible…
And I now know of THREE pugs named Suki!
We love dressing up, taking the border terrier for walks in the woods…theres loads of stuff we do. Im gonna be wearing my super-cool raccoon hat and taking pictures on my polaroid camera near the lake XD Well, once I get some film. I don’t think my puppy would like being dressed up though…Bit of a shame XD

Oh, Suki looks so cute! It makes me want a puppy!
We pick up apples in Fall. That is the one thing I am very seasonal about. There are so many apple orchards with fresh apples, and fresh apple cider. YUM! Corduroy pants come out in fall too! I would love to find a cute corduroy skirt or wool skirt. I LOVE fall, and not just because my birthday is in fall π
Fall is my fave for sure…..love fall colors and flavors. We always throw a big Halloween party and decorate inside and out. Last year I got a huge Cinderella Pumpkin and after Halloween we cooked it and I made a bunch of pies……VERY TASTY. I love everything you mentioned but have one more Fall Fave……camping. Have a camping trip to the Buffalo National River planned for the first weekend in November. Can’t wait!
My favorite traditions for autumn are: decorating inside and outside, going to a local farm to pick out our pumpkins, going on family walks to look at all the beautiful leaves changing color, making homemade simmering potpouri that makes our home smell yummy, and snuggling under blankies on chilly days and nights.
WE love to go to corn mazes (when we can find one), spook trails, decorate the entire house, and pick out/make costumes. Le live on a busy street and get around 300 trick or treaters, so its all about docorating and buying candy!!!
I swear, Elsie!…I just figured out why I love your blog so much!…because when I visit it, I feel like I’m back in the Brownies again, and you’re Mrs. Gunderson, my Brownie leader! [You’re A LOT younger, and have tattoos, but same fabulous crafting energy!]
Haa haa!
She totally woulda had us making that autumn-leaf decoration you have hanging from the chimney…and passing out cupcakes with a single candy corn on top while we worked.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Times like this I wish I lived in America. It seems like so much fun to to all the thing you do. Decorating homes for halloween. Cutting out pumpkins, thanks giving and all thouse happy things π
I live in Norway , and we dont have thouse traditions like you have.
All time favorite tradition:
We live in the Blue Ridge so every year we go up on the Parkway and take thousands of pictures of the lovely foliage, have coffee, and make new memories. It’s one reason autumn is my favorite :]
[plus I just got married and I can’t wait for a married autumn!]
This is my favorite time of the year!! Started decorating yesterday and will continue on today and I will partake in lots of yummy pumpkin treats!
I wish Fall could last allllll year. I can’t wait to carve pumpkins, sip on some warm apple cider and crochet my heart out. EEEEE!!!!!! Fall is definitely the best time to start crafting like crazy and it’s so easy when everything around you is so beautiful and inspiring in the Fall.
that little pumpkin doggy hat is so cute!
i love collecting all the conkers that fall from the tree’s. I don’t know if they have a different name in america though.
π
Our pumpkin patch opens October 1. I begin planning and coordinating family outfits for our annual pumpkin patch picture in August! Those are my favorite pictures every year. Showing my four year-old how to bob for apples at the Fall Carnival is something I can’t wait to do!
I get together with my friends and we having a marathon day of baking pies and such..& then have a huge picnic Outside:) & I enjoy pressing apples for Cider over at a local Orchard π
My favorite time of year. Everything about it is perfect. Over the weekend we carved a pumpkin, and rather than roasting the seeds with salt as usual, I used a mixture of melted butter, salt, white sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Will definitely be doing that again! They were decadent, and the house smelled so good, too!
plaid wool ponchos and tall boots; hot lattes and leaf hunting;SWEATERS big comfy sweaters and of course pumpkin pie!
xoxo lizzie
Collecting conkers from the local woods
love your home decor for the season! and i love your list- i agree on a lot of it, especially needing more pumpkin spice lattes π
I totally love the doggy pumpkin!!
Oooohhh, the peanut festival with all their homeade crafts is coming up, can’t WAIT for that. We go camping all thru the fall winter, so our first trip is coming up…I see campfires and spooky stories in our future, yippeee~~~~~and pulling out my favorite cardigan to wear with everything I own. Even when it doesn’t match, I wear it anyway!
My favorite fall traditions are wearing my wool fingerless gloves, drinking apple cider, eating pumpkin scones. This year I get to dress up my little girl as a dragon (my husbands idea) and we will give out candy.
Apple picking! There’s this sweet mountain town that’s only about an hour away and they have everything apples. It’s so fun! Also drinking as many pumpkin spice lattes as possible, and wearing tights with everything. I swear I wear more dresses in the fall/winter than I do the rest of the year, because I can cover up my white white legs! π
Ahhh…fall is just such a happy season! Love the felt leaf garland. This will be our second year of taking the boys to the orchard to pick out pumpkins and I can’t wait – definitely my favorite new fall activity.
I had my first hot apple cider of the season yesterday. It did not disappoint.
hmm – many of yours are my favorites too.
– go to the pumpkin patch/corn maze with my boys
– decorate the yard for halloween – we do a graveyard scene each year with a skeleton dinner party on the patio
– watch the leave change color and go for a hike
– drink hot drinks – apple cider, spiked hot cocoa and many, many others
I love fall
Dressing up for Halloween is my total fave! I love being creative with the make up (:
This year, my friend is making a halloween film which I’m helping with, so excited! x
Ooo fall traditions… hmm, well my friends and I normally have a sort of fall dinner which is fairly exciting. One of us will cook starters, two will cook main dishes, and another will cook desserts. It always ends up with us all laughing at how each and every one of us has ended up buying ready mate items since we’ve all failed to cook satisfactory meals on our own!
Much love xxx

ok, this is not yet a tradition but starting this year it will. my friend’s pumpkin pie martini is being published in this year’s taste of home holidays magazine. yum-o!! let me know if ya want it!!!

i love absolutely everything about autumn! we just moved back to illinois two weeks ago after ten years of living in arizona. i am beyond excited for autumn, halloween, thanksgiving, etc. to feel REAL again! π
I appreciate the idea of the checklist you have going for autumn. That way busyness won’t keep you from doing the things that are important this time of year!
I love the felt leaf runner in the photo. My favorite fall traditions: making pumpkin muffins, going apple picking (I really miss that – we’ve been in Japan for the last 5 years, so for us it’s sweet potato picking), taking photos of fall foliage, getting out the sweaters, and lots and lots of knitting.
We get pumpkins in various sizes to match the sizes of each of our family members. The kids get such a kick out of it!
hehe i love the puppy costume! & fall garland.. π
hi Elsie! since Autumn is my fAvOuRiTe time of year, i took a cue from you and decided to blog my own autumn traditions! thanks for the inspiration!
Oh how I adore the Autumn! π
Thank you for writing this post, it reminded me I need to e-mail mine & my husband’s best friends to schedule our annual trip to the pumpkin farm. I can’t wait!
While carving our pumpkins, we have to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and drink homemade apple cider, of course π
Happy Fall!! <3

LOVE those felt leaves! The checklist is a great idea! I love autumn, there’s so much to enjoy about it!
I think Candy Corn is the prettiest candy ever made!!!
I love the cooler weather here in Texas–which has yet to show up! I love all of the autumn cooking: soups, chilis, butternut and acorn squash, pies, hot chocolate…. Yum! I love picking pumpkins out with my hubby and kids. We love all of the different colored pumpkins to display in our front yard. π

1. Halloween, decorating and making my costume
2. Walks in the forest when the leaves turn
3. Potlucks with friends and family
4. Cozy, oversized sweaters and wool socks while sitting outside

We love the pumpkin patch so much!! We were all so excited for Autumn and Halloween that we have already decorated..hehehe. It really is THE most magical time of year. The colors, the warmer clothes, the food….family time!! Ahhhh….love it.
fall is my favorite season, though sadly here it has been very rainy lately π
I love to go dress up for Halloween of course, bake non stop! and tights and cardigans anyone? π
Look at that little pug. Adorable!
Elsie, I love your autumn leaf garland! I used it as inspiration to make my own paper leaves to decorate my canning jars. You can see them here: http://heathleigh.blogspot.com/2010/10/cross-country.html Thanks for sharing!
