I’ve spent a (ahem) considerable amount of time window shopping for couches this past month. I am loving all the options that are out there! We’re looking for something colorful that can adapt to the changing seasons. These are a few that caught my eye for one reason or another. What do you think? Colorful? Comfy? Quirky?
Do you guys love any online furniture shops? I’m definitely still shopping around, and loving it! XO. elsie

4 & 5 are my fave. But I know you’ll definitely pick the best!! Good luck 🙂
5! Giant lips always seem like a good idea at the time, but on a really crabby day, you’re going to walk in and be like, “For the love of God, why are there LIPS in here?!”
Loving the lines and angles on the first one. I know style is very important but “bum” testing them is just as vital!
4 is definitely my favorite! so simple and versatile. and it looks like the comfiest! 🙂
I think that the #2 is really you 🙂
I like 4 and 5 the best. The lips seem kind of cool but I really wouldn’t want a couch kissing my butt. Lol!
http://donutpastry.blogspot.com/
2, 4, and 5. but seasonally,,,, maybe 4.
can’t wait to see what you get!!
love from: jean at http://jeanyous.blogspot.com/
Very cute couches! Check out my blog: http://thechicstreetblog.blogspot.com/
4 and 5. So cute.
2 & 5 are my favorites. In the right surroundings they would be great any season.
4. Definately 4. Its much more timeless.
The first one is perfect! But you could make any of them work…
I’ve been considering number one for months! But think I’ll invest in recovering my low yellow baby. Get number one!
Guys they are all great….except for ….number 3. Number 4 is my absolute favourite.

I like number 4 and number 1… 🙂
5! 5! 5! 5! wooooooo number five! do it grrrl!
I really like 4 and 5. I say go for quirky and/or colorful!
I would go with a thrive couch since they are so much more timeless. the legs on all the other couches just aren’t great at all. we are considering a thrive couch but will most likely go with a more neutral color so we don’t risk getting tired of it!
I am lovin #5!
Number 5 is my pick. Those lips are something, though.
– tianna 🙂
Elsie– from everything I read/hear, most modern couches are crap quality unless you spend a LOT of money on them. Your best bed is to find something with good bones on craigslist and have it reupholstered. Having said that– I vote #4, it looks like the one you’ll most likely love for a long time, and easiest to change up when you change your mind!! Happy new home, Xo.
I just took delivery on my beautiful and luxurious button-tuck sofa from a Martha Stewart collection at Macy’s. It’s going to adapt as our tastes change over the years. I spent months looking for the perfect sofa. Good luck!
Oooh I love the colours of 1, 4 and 5 but I would always go with whatever is the comfiest and cosiest!!
Aaaaw, 5 is just sooooo IT !!!
2 & 5
i’m a fan of #5, but you guys can’t go wrong on decorating, like EVER..i’m excited to see what you will pick!
Love #4!! I also really like Thrive’s Nixon couch too.
I really like the 2nd one! The lips would need a specific theme. I don’t think they are very adaptable to room changes but I could be wrong. Just too much for me.
1 & 5 are the ones I’d pick for my space! Have you checked out bludot? They have lovely furniture :).
Love the first one, the color and style is great!!
I love two and five!
Number 3 can easily adapt to all the changes 😀
Oooh, loving number 5!!! Oh my gosh, my new sofa crush!!
Ooo! I love the first and last ones. Last time I went to the Brimfield Antiques show, I saw an awesome (really long) tufted leather couch sold by some people from Miami. Not as colorful, but man, did they have cool stuff! Your last pick reminds me of it.
# 4 is great in terms of style. I think it is classic and will endure. That said, #5 is a more versatile colour. Go for the least fussy one you love best. That always works for me.
I love 1 or 5! The lips are awesome but I can see them getting old kind of quick.
You have amazing style Elsie!

1 or 4. I love the teal (would look great against yellow walls) and the yellow couch has a great shape.
Either of these would be lovely. 🙂
oh, I love 1, 4 and 5. The Dali style sofa is like too much for me, but I would love to see how you mix it with your style.
3! I love it do much, I might have to get it for my own living room!
I think #2 and #4 are the best. #2 is fun and very unique. #4 is more functional, but still spunky. I want to find a fun couch to replace our light tan, canvas one. One of these days I’ll get around to it. Have fun!
Absolutely adore 1, 4 & 5… lips are too much for my taste; can easily become tacky. Great choices, they all look like they carry the Elsie vibe 🙂
http://rivercitysammon.com
Number 2/4/5 they are really amazing, so brightly colorful and original!
I am all for comfy. Colorful is a plus but you can always add color with blankets and pillows. I think 4 would be the comfiest and the easiest to adapt for the seasons.
I’m definitely for #2!

Nini,
http://ninilopette.blogspot.com/
we’ve been in the market for a sectional. comfy is definitely a must for us! love the colors!
#2 is definitely quirky but interesting and unique! Would definitely buy it if I were you 🙂
My faves are 1&5. I actually have a vintage sofa like #1 that I got at a thrift store for $30 bucks, total score. Good luck couch hunting! can’t wait to see what you ultimately choose.
4 & 5 are my favorite as well! Lots of cute choices there. You could always decide by going with the cheapest one. That helps me at times.
They are all so lovely. I’m all about comfort though. I love a piece you can just melt into. Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture’s couches are pure heaven, thats what I have. They do come in a range of colors as well. Not sure the aesthetic is your taste though.
As much as I think #3 is hilarious, I think that #4 reminds me most of something that you would pick, but of course it all depends on what else you are thinking for the living room.
xoxo,

I love Thrive, my favorite fabric is Key Largo Aqua! I think blue and aqua are good for any season (the sky is blue year-round after all!) Also easy to keep seasonal pillows around to rotate and refresh colors, textures and sizes as the year passes.
My personal faves are definitely 4 and 5. So fun!
These couches are all so cute! I really like 1, but 4 and 5 are nice too.
Those are all so cute! Lots of character in each one. Have you also tried macy’s? I’d never really think to look there but I was also looking through couches and armchairs a few weeks ago and found a few that were nice.

They might be within your style + budget.
Anyway, happy hunting! Can’t wait to see what you pick out!
Couch shopping is so hard! I’ve had my eye out for the perfect new couch for more than a year. It difficult when what you’re looking for in comfort is at odds with what style you dig, ya know? Z Gallerie is a bit glam-crazy, but they’re got some couches that stand out.
#1, 4 & 5 initially, but then it would probably be a toss up with 4 & 5.
Then I’d probably go for #4…
And you probably didn’t need to read my thought process… haha!
I love 1 and 5… but I think 1 is my favorite! I’m a huge sucker for blue furniture. (:
1 or 5 personally. I think the last one kinda of compliments the couch you already have. From an artist’s perspective anyway
Erika
The first one for sure! It can be a great day-bed as well for afternoon naps.
That first one is too gorgeous! I love the slant of the arms.
I love 4! I ordered a couch from Urban Outfitters and LOVE it! It was a long wait before I got it, but it was worth it. http://m.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/mobile/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=25722570&pushId=APARTMENT
I would definitely go with the last one because it’s so versatile and fashionable but still comfortable and welcoming with some cute pillows added. Not crazy about the legs but you could so easily wrap them in fabric or washi tape and remove it anytime you wanted. : ) There’s definitely great potential there and Jonathan Adler is just brilliant!
Great finds! I adored online couch shopping when I did it. I ended up with a large round purple crushed velvet couch (kind of a loveseat, really, but a bit larger). I go back and forth about whether or not it’s wise to have such a bold couch – definitely tough to decorate around – but for the most part I still love it.
Definitely the lip one.
anthro one is cute. but 3 grand for a small couch???? yikes!!!
LOVE the retro ones the best!
XOXO

I love 1 & 2, but I really love 2. Those patterns are great and really fun together.
Number 4 is my favorite. Those nice big curved arms look perfect for curling up with a book on a rainy fall afternoon.

#1 and #4 are so so great! This really makes me want to go couch shopping now. I’m starting to plan a big move back to the states and even though I have a perfectly lovely couch in storage (or, at least I hope it’s still perfectly lovely), the blue and green ones you posted have such great shapes. Good luck with shopping!
I love 1 and 5, but I laughed when I see number 3. xD

Oh, #5 blows me away. #4 is great too, though. Can’t wait to see your vision!

How Bout Some Cake?
4 for sure. It just looks so incredibly cozy and comfy. I love sitting on the couch during the winter drinking tea and knitting. Also another good tactic for buying furniture, and a lot of other stuff, is picturing yourself using it. Like drinking your coffee or reading a book. Do you see it fitting in. Hope this helps! I wish you all the best in couch shopping.
I’m not seeing any that look super comfy but if you put some cozy pillows on one of them then I could see it.

I love the color of the first one but number 4 just seems so versatile to me!
I’m in a the market for a couch myself. I have a wonderful 1960s couch but it is terribly uncomfortable. I have plans for it later in life but for now I’m looking for something that suits my style while still be comfortable. I like #5 the best.

I’m digging number 1 🙂
One looks perfect for napping! I love number five though, it’s very autumny!
I love #1 the most, by far!

4 looks nice and comfy….then 5…bc orange is awesome.
The blue one! Gorgeous!
couchgb.com has very beautiful patchwork couches. you should checkout that site :]
xo,
haleymade.com
overstock.com is a good option!
My only advice is to not go too quirky. You want something timeless that will transcend time because you will be spending good money on it. And something that will change as you change, so new pillows, throws etc..rugs…i have found going with a solid color sofa is better because then you can change up your decor more and add tons of patterns all around.
have fun!
Def. No.1! I love the 50’s appeal of it.
4 and 5 are very classic, yet a bit boring to me 😉
No. 3 might be a bit annoying from time to time, maybe it’s just the colour, I don’t know.
No. 2 is maybe not neutral enough to fit into different seasonal decorations, I love the wooden legs of it though 🙂
xoxo!
the lip one is too cute! But as far as practical use goes I like number 4 the best, the color is gorgeous!
http://thecraftingklutz.blogspot.com/
🙂 Since I played the first time to The Sims I’m in love with the lips couch number 3! oh my it’s aweseme!! and I am the only one who love it! ops! 😉
3 is cute, 5 stylish and neat and 2 is creative 🙂
I love the confortabes ones,
those were your fall asleep at night watching tv ; )
http://mykitschworld.blogspot.com.es
I like 1 and 5 🙂
I like 4! gorgeous styl and colour!
I absolutely adore #1 and #5! I’m actually in the same boat as you right now and looking to buy a new couch (or ideally a sectional, but those get super $$$ really quickly). Having never purchased furniture online before, I’m a little nervous. I want to know what it feels like to sit on a couch before committing to such an investment. I think I might just visit the stores in person to try them out and then order online.
Best of luck on your couch buying! Love the fun colours you’ve chosen.
I like number 1 best. It looks deep enough, the arms aren’t too high (which is perfect if you like couch napping!) and the back also looks like a good height – nothing worse than having your neck “floating” when you are trying to get comfy. Plus the style is fab and colour is vibrant but not the kind that you will be fed up with after a while!
Elsie! You should check out the Sofa Company. http://www.thesofaco.com/ They do high quality knockoffs of designer work– with tons of customization. I bought my loveseat from them last year and was able to get exactly what I wanted in terms of design, fabric, even Green foam for the seat padding. My GF did a custom order with them and saved a grand on a knockoff of something she liked.
If you go with your list, then I vote for option 1.
Cheers!
I thought this was going to be about shopping while on the couch
:):)
Number 4 is my shout! Love the colour and it looks so comfy!
Wow, all of these sofas are really nice!
Keep looking Elsie, I’m sure you will find something you and Jeremy would absolutely love!!
My favorite furniture store is probably dedon.de or Graham & Green (even though I can’t buy from them seeing as I’m only 16! But it’s nice to look at 🙂 )
Good luck with the search!
#5 is my favourite but none of them look that comfy. I love all these retro style furnishings but ultimately I have to go for comfort. Funny enough I posted on my blog about a sofa just yesterday!

2,3 and 5 are the best, It’s a pity my room is too small for such a couch(

1 and 5 are beautiful. I have serious sofa envy!
I don’t like number 3, it’s a little too rocky horror for my tastes, but 4 and 5 are beautiful. I love how colourful you always have things, you must be such a fun person to spend time with x
My favourites are number 1 and 4!
Number two is my absolute favourite, though four and five are lovely too and perhaps a little more practical.
xoxo

1 and 5! loove love love. (definitely not three haha)
Good luck, lady <3

1 and 5! simple, elegant and good for every season!!
I love 1, 4 and 5, but I think I’d go for option #1 (or #5, the colour is just awesome and it looks big enough for two and comfy!)
Number 4 definately!
I just love 2 & 4 so much id have them both.

I love the green one :0) Shop Beautiful Casual Dresses Online at CopperEtiquette
1 and 2 are really pretty!
Loooove number 4 !!!
I vote for number 1 😉
I really like the 4th and 5th one. They look so 70’s, love it!

Have you seen http://www.funkysofa.com ?
We bought a couch & armchair from there six years ago {the desilu in purple plushvelvet} & its still going strong {in my sister’s house now}! Its a great place to get trendy furniture without breaking the bank– especially because most of the really trendy stuff like what you posted isn’t something you want to have around forever, so why break the bank on it? It was inexpensive {comparatively}, cute & delivered to our doorstep– what more could you want?
I would go for the lips!!!
super cute!
I absolutely adore 2, I think it could shift into so many seasons and can be gorgeous in clean white space, or with lots of kitschy things. Lovely!
Also love 1, 4 and 5 – but you have to sit on them before you decide! The most beautiful to look at might also be the most uncomfortable
LOVE 2. But 4 if I was to be slightly more practical. 🙂
1 & 5! <3 I love the colours and the style 🙂
Loving #4!!! Very pretty and both modern and classic. Although I personally would make sure the armrests are just fine for me – I like it when you can comfortably sit on them. I come from a big family, so that’s important 😀
2 or 4, either simple comfort or a real eye catcher!
http://www.indiegogo.com/afsgermanyfund
Go with number 1. Only in the Yellow or Orange! You have a blue couch! If your going for a fun I think I orange would suit you. I love that the legs are wood. Its very sweet!
#1 and #5, they would also match that bule couch you have.
Such colourful couches! My favourite is #4! I love the bold colour and the style as well! 🙂

5! I wanna buy a house just to be able to have that couch. FIVE!!
number 5! seems contemporary enough with an old fashioned charm 🙂 good luck on your shopping. thats the most fun part {decorating}
AGH! Picking a couch is hard. Well for me, bc its hard to find one that will fit into both comfort and style. I really like your picks #4 & #5. I feel like #4 may be a little more versatile then #5 but #5 looks a little bigger which is a + (also, who doesnt drool over anything Jonathan Adler?!) I’m typically drawn to a mid century look but comfort wise, not really there! I recommend looking at Macys.com. They have some good lookin’ *affordable* couches and they usually put them on sale too. Good luck! 🙂
I bought my lovely green couch from this place: http://www.daniafurniture.com/ Really great stuff. 🙂
Number 4 looks both classy and comfortable.
I think either the second one or the last one!! Oh you could do white and POP with tons of colors with pillows!
Number 3 is very fun, but i don’t think it will easily adapt to different seasons.
On the other and, number 4 and 5 look very confortable and have great colors, but i would end up choosing number 5. I love orange 🙂
hello ,
in my opinion the 1st one is comfortable.
I know some internet shop but here in Italy…
have a look dalani.it

Green is my ultimate favorite color so, I would obviously advise the 4th! Beautiful color and style, I’m actually considering it for myself now! Anyway, I think this one would totally fit your style guys!
Digging No.5!
4 is definetly my favourite, the colour is gorgeous!! Although I also like 2. I think the Lips are fun and different but I could image that one would be annoyed by the design after a while. So I’d choose Design 4 🙂
Have to jump on the 4 and 5 train 🙂 They look great and comfy. We love love love great design, but in a couch you need comfort!
# 2 is amazing!
Number 4! Just perfect!
Love number 2 and 5! I love furniture shopping, unfortunately the husband doesn’t 😉
http://www.creativityandchocolate.blogspot.com
#1, #4 and #5 have me oooh’ing and ahhh’ing.
I pretty much say #1 would ROCK. Love the lines and the comfort factor of the relaxed sides.
My favorites are 1,3 and 5! Those ones are so cute and retro! I really don’t like the lip ones… Hhahaa!
I love number 2, although it doesn’t look too comfy! you should take a look at maisonsdumonde… very cheap and nice furniture! good luck!
1,4, and5. Solid colors give you more freedom toswitch things up with pillows and throws
I don’t mind being the lone voice crying NUMBER 1! What a great Mad Men throwback.
I love Number 5! I have a huge crush on couches with buttons!
i’ve liked number 4 from crate and barrel for a while but dont know if i can commit to that color! give me the strength!
I like 1,2&4 but I would get really tired of the lips fast. That’s the same reason when I bought glasses I didn’t get the purple sparkly ones because it is such and expensive buy and I didnt want to get tired of them
Number 5
Debbie
#1 or #5 are awesome!
I love 1 and 5, but agree with “bum testing”. I had a sofa in college that looked a lot like 4, and it became a joke that it was the “art piece” of our home. It was looked at, used for laundry draping, but not really sat on because we ordered online and it turned out CRUNCHY and SCRATCHY. Go for the good seat!
2!!!!! 100% has to be 2! This couch is friggin amaaaazing!!!
#5 would be my first choice, then #1 as a runner up 🙂
I love number 4!
1 and 5 are my favorite!
4 and 5
I love the first one! Also the fith one isnt so bad 🙂
Your blog is worthy of attention and effort, you come to your blog and provide detailed information!
Have you thought about buying a used couch and reupholster?
My mum did this with one inherited from someone moving. It turned out really well, and she had the flexibility to choose any fabric she wanted.
Of those above, I like number 2 since it is most like a Chesterfield sofa. But 4 would be easiest to reupholster in future.
Have a look at these ‘green’ options, and you can customize some of them. I like the fact they are classic shapes, clean lines, and easy to reupholster in future.
http://www.treehugger.com/green-home/buygreen-sofas-and-loveseats.html
Or, go with wooden or steel frame with cushions (easier to make covers for your changing moods). For example-
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny-good-questions-sofa-suggest-50664
i love number 1 and 4 – the colors are great!
xo, cheyenne
Number 1 and number 5 are my favourites! Number 1 cause it’s my favourite colour and number 5 cause it’s such a lovely colour and it looks so comfy!
I love 4 and 5! They’re so fun!
At a first glance I was so sure of couch no 1 or 5 (love the colors!). But then I thought, hey, that no 2 is really something special. I would love to cozy up in that couch on a rainy day…
2 and 5 are just perfect!
4 is my favourite but for me, comfort is key!
All over number 4! Beautiful 🙂
I think you would grow tired of the lips, and although I looove Anthropologie, I do think it’s better to stick with a solid color and then add decorative pillows. So I say 1, 4 or 5!
Number 2 and 4. Number two looks so delightful and comfortable! There are so many colour themes you could go with too. I very much like number four too 🙂
My husband and I have the Crate and Barrel couch, we have two dogs and one cat and it has held up great!
