Crystal + Cactus Terrarium

Crystal + Cactus TerrariumHey, friends! Want to make terrariums today?

Yesssss.

Today we’re partnering with Etsy Studio, a marketplace created by Etsy! We’ve shopped for our DIY supplies on Etsy (they have pretty much everything). We’re SUPER excited they’ve launched this supply-based market. They have millions of supplies from all over the world and lots of project inspiration too! What a useful resource! I got almost everything for this project on Etsy Studio. I’m obsessed.

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Supplies:
terrarium container
-minerals (I used Tangerine Quartz, Cactus Quartz and Amethyst)
-soil
-teeny little plants (look for terrarium size cacti and succulents)
rocks and sand (especially colored sand)

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Step One: Start with rocks. Next add sand.

When you add each new layer, start with the edges and work your way in so the layers (from the side view) will be nice and defined).

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Step Two: Add a layer of soil and your teeny plants.

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Step Three: Next, add a layer of sand. I personally LOVE adding layers of colored sand. But if you decide to keep it neutral, make sure to still use different tones to add some contrast.

Then, add another layer of sand in a contrasting color. Shake it (very lightly) to cover the edges completely.

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Step Four: Add some minerals. If you have a favorite, save it for the front.

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium It really is that easy!

To water my tiny plants, I will use my mister really lightly. These little guys don’t need too much water.

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Ugh—the side view is SO pretty! I recommend placing your new terrarium somewhere elevated where you can see the side view and the stones. I put mine on a side table in my bedroom that is the first thing I see when I wake up every morning. Love it!

Crystal + Cactus Terrarium Let me know if you have any questions at all!

I will warn you that this project is slightly addictive. I already CANNOT wait to make another one! xx -Elsie
