Hey, friends! Today I want to share with you a healthy and SUPER delicious smoothie bowl idea. It’s basically non-dairy ice cream. It’s REALLY good. After I snapped these photos today, Laura and I shared the whole thing! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl, serves one.
2 frozen bananas
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon dark cocoa powder
(for garnish, all optional)
1 banana (unfrozen)
chia seeds
coconut flakes
dark chocolate flakes
sliced almonds
In a blender, combine the frozen bananas, almond milk, peanut butter and cocoa powder. Blend until creamy. It should be about the consistency of soft serve ice cream.
Pour it into a bowl and use a spoon toย smooth out the top, preparing it for toppings.
Garnish with toppings of your choice. Fresh banana slices are SUPER good with this recipe. The rest is up to you! All the things I used are listed above.
Note: If you are enjoying this as part of the Weekday Weekend Challenge you may need to omit adding any dark chocolate to the top (listed as garnish) unless you can find one that is naturally sweetened or unsweetened.

One of my new NYE goals was to expand my recipe palette. This looks delicious! Can’t wait to give it a try. I might substitute Milk Chocolate for Dark Chocolate however.

That’s totally what it is! The “worst” part about it is bananas and peanut butter… so it’s a pretty healthy sweet treat- and nutritious too!
xx- Els
You totally can do that!

This looks so delicious! I’ve just started a new healthy lifestyle for 2016 and this is perfect for my breakfasts! I love your blog so much ! I’ve just started my own one based on Textiles about 3 weeks ago and you have been an amazing inspiration! ๐
OHMYGOSH I tried this just now and it’s FANTASTIC. I’m literally about to down the whole bowl. I subbed dark cocoa for regular and almond milk for an almond-coconut milk blend. It tastes exactly like chocolate ice cream! With this recipe sticking to resolutions will be easy!
Update- I ate the whole thing ? YUM
I printed this recipe and gave it to my eight year old who has taken it upon himself to be our resident smoothie maker. He adds a handful of spinach to this (you can’t taste it!) and this has been the ONLY smoothie he has made all week. Haha. It was a huge hit and he is so proud of himself for following a recipe ๐
