I have spent the last few months obsessively researching all things home decor in preparation for our new house. It's gotten downright funny how my husband reacts when I show him yet another subway tile pattern or brass light fixture (and don't even get me started on the floor stain decision process—haha—that's another story for another time. Haha!) Anyway, my point is, I've learned a TON of useful information about decorating and now I want to share ALL OF IT with you. That's what blogs are for. Ammiright?
I'm not sure if I'll be brave enough to attempt a DIY light fixture without my dad's help (Dad! You reading this??). I think I'm leaning more toward buying most of my fixtures (I'll share my shopping guide with you soon!), but I wanted to share these DIYs with you because a. they are incredible, and b. I know some of you are much braver than I am.
Disclaimer—these aren't all technically bronze. There's some copper too. But I didn't think you would mind too much! They're all pretty.

I clicked on it because I was like “What in the…?” and then sho’ nuff…
I love the geometric ones, especially the Geometric Copper Pendant Light. These lights make me want to buy my own place and start decorating it. I love ABM for design inspiration! (:

I like the design Copper Pipe Icosahedron Light Fixture. I can’t wait to make this one.
Ha! Infamous boob light!! We are replacing a lot of our fixtures and my hubby was sending me pics of new fixtures from the store. It must have been the angle, but all of a sudden I saw it. And ever since, they all look like boobs to me 🙂
WherE can I get the one in the very very first photo? It’s perfect!!
Great roundup! Brass is having a real moment right now and it’s brilliant!
I developed a DIY mini sputnik style chandelier kit which has all the components picked out and ready to go, plus detailed instructions. Perfect for anyone who’s tacking their first DIY light project and is a bit intimidated with the electrical aspect.
I am having the hardest time finding a light fixture I love for my office while staying under budget! I love LOVE brass so I think one of these might just work for me 🙂 I’m especially digging the geometric ones!
OMG. I’m so happy you posted some of Mandi’s DIY’s!! Your blog and her blog are my two fave DIY blogs and my biggest inspiration! Major heart eyes right now.
I cant get over how fun their study is. The wall is fun, as is the tassel.
Gorgeous! I love number 8, so simple yet adds a lovely touch to a room!
3 and 4 are awesome. Makes me rethink my light fixtures!

I made the first one pictured (from One Kings Lane), and now that it’s installed, I love it. We put it on a dimmer switch, so it goes all the way from gentle ambiance to super-bright task lighting (since our dining room table is also our main work space).
I also learned a few things along the way:
– If you order from the sources One Kings Lane recommends, put all the pieces together without any wiring as soon as your package arrives, to make sure the brass pieces fit together. We ordered the pieces and then didn’t get around to assembly for a whole year … and had to pay for one or two new pieces because they were defective and the one-year warranty had expired.
– Have electrical tape on hand. All those right angles in the lamp arms tend to cut into the electrical wires as you screw it together … which electrifies the entire chandelier … which blows a fuse and/or a light switch when you turn it on. Which may or may not have happened to us. 🙂 Wrapping the wires with electrical tape inside those tight corners fixed that issue.
– One Kings Lane doesn’t really talk about how to hang it from your ceiling. We used a thin cable to hang it from this ceiling kit from Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/listing/201130642/raw-brass-ceiling-canopy-kit-pendant – that shop had great service) and covered the hole in our ceiling from the previous light fixture with a diy minimalist medallion a la The Brick House: http://www.the-brick-house.com/2013/09/diy-ceiling-medallion/
It was a lot of work, but I’d totally do it again!
Isn’t it so exciting and interesting to see that you can do something or crafts on your own. Those DIY tips and tutorials are so helpful for you to become creative and artistic in your own way.
These are so cool!
