Sometimes my inspiration for decor comes from the most far off of places, and this clock is no exception. I was inspired by the Plants on Pink Instagram feed to bring a little of the perfect combo that is lush green plants against a perfectly peachy pink backdrop to my home. While I may not have any pink walls in my house (yet!), this clock is the perfect #plantlady addition to my space. And with a cost of under $30, I could not be more thrilled with the results!
Materials:
-24” raw wood round from Home Depot
–pink acrylic paint
-paintbrush
-faux palm and banana leaves from the craft store
-hot glue
–clock movement
-white spray paint (optional)
–picture hanging bracket
Step One: Paint the wood round with the pink acrylic paint.
Step Two: Hot glue on the palm and banana leaves onto the lower portion of the clock for a pop of green.
Step Three: Spray paint the clock movement white (optional) and then add a nail just above the center of the clock and hang your movement on it. You may want to make the correct position with a thumbtack first.
Step Four: Screw on a picture hanging bracket to the back of the clock so that you can hang your clock on the wall.
Now wasn’t that simple?! I love how this simple clock movement allows you to easily transform anything into a clock as long as you can add a nail to the center. And the oversized wood base really makes this clock a centerpiece. I am thinking that I will eventually move the clock above my fireplace in place of the mirror that is currently there so that it can really be on display. What kind of clock will you make now that you know how simple it is? xoxo. – Kara

Plants on Pink is one of my favourite Instagrams – it got me hooked onto the colour combination, would be great to have a clock like this at home (to, you know, feed my obsession)!

I initially thought the plants were painted on! Love the 3d look, and bringing greenery literally everywhere!
I like that you guys often have a 3-d element (i.s. the plastic fronds) to things you paint.

Thank you for sharing this – It’s an amazing but such a simple and easy thing to make. I just know that something like this clock would dress my walls up but also not be too in your face. I will definitely be adding this to my to do list.
Have a great weekend 🙂
