As the summer heats up around here we are looking for ways to dress up our iced beverages. Here are three fun ideas for making your own fancy ices cubes; along with serving suggestions. Enjoy!
Raspberry Mint ice cubes: to make simply add a fresh min leaf and a raspberry or two to each ice cube before freezing. These are super pretty! You can add any kind of berry or cut fruit that you like. These ice cubes are excellent in mojitos, white wine spritzers, gin and tonics, lemonade, ginger ale and ice tea. If you don't love mint try adding basil for a more savory option.
Layered ice cubes: to make pour a layer of juice or other colored liquid into your tray, about 1/3 full. Freeze for a couple hours until set. Add a second layer, freeze again until set. Add a third layer and freeze until completely frozen. For mine I used blueberry juice, mango juice and raspberry juice. You could use flavored lemonades or even add a layer of alcohol if you like. These are excellent for adding to chilled club soda or Sprite, the frozen juice layers will slowly flavor your drink!
Coffee (or tea) ice cubes: to make simply fill your tray with left over coffee or tea. This is the perfect addition to your iced coffee or ice tea favorites because the ice will not water down your beverage like regular ice cubes will.

I love the idea of freezing your coffee for iced coffee.
I often freeze the coffee to make frappes in my blender. I’d never considered simply adding them into an iced coffee though!
Thanks for another great post!
YES!! Brilliant. I’ve been wanting to get ice cube trays ever since the last ice cube recipe you made. Thanks, Emma 🙂

Cute! But a layer of alcohol wouldn’t freeze, you know.
Okay–Emma you are blowing my mind with the simplest idea. Fruit in a cube–duh! Why didn’t I think of that!?
Such a great idea – especially for iced coffee! GENIUS.

Mmm, raspberry and mint sounds relish! If you use warm/hot water to fill your trays, the water will freeze clear. Can’t wait to make some of these to show off!

These look awesome! I read something and I think you should add it in your article: apparently if you boil the water before you freeze it, it’s going to look much clearer – useful if you plan on recreating the raspberry cubes for instance 🙂
I always do the coffee and tea cubes they are perfect and I saw the berries ones on Pinterest and loved them. Ice cubes like this are awesome 🙂
The raspberry ice cube is so pretty!! I could see other berries in there for sure – What a great idea!

Awesome ideas! Especially the coffee/tea one! Never thought of that! <3
in love.
In order to make the strawberry cubes less cloudy looking use boiling water in the trays then freeze. This will make the cubes clear and whatever fruit you put in will standout more
I need to try this with strawberries and mint. I have an abundance of both right now.

Using these ideas at out next bbq party – thx xx
Just a note; alcohol doesn’t freeze so it won’t work for the layered ice cubes.
I will try this for sure!

These are all such great ideas. I can’t wait to try this as a refreshment since summer over here in DC is hot and humid.
Oh, this is perfect! I love this so much more then boring ol’ icecubes!

I’ve always wanted to do the coffee cubes but never leave enough coffee to try it haha. I saw somewhere (probably pinterest) if you want the ice cubes with items like the raspberry mint to be seen just boil the water twice then let cool before putting it in the cubes.

Love the iced coffee. I would just make my coffee a lot stronger and add ice, but it always tasted bitter. I will defiantly be making these!
Thanks for the great ideas.
Claudia
I do this all the time!!! 🙂 Try chocolate milk with chocolate chips, so when you make hot chocolate you can cool it down a bit for a hot day. Another good one is mashed blue berries and apple juice YUMMY!!!!
I think my favourite thing about you is how often you manage to sneak alcohol into your recipes. Girl after my own heart x
First one is my favorite !
I need to try these soon! All of them look amazing.

I’m trying this out with freshly picked raspberries today 🙂 Thank you!
Also pretty – add edible flowers or petals to icecubes (rose petals, violets, capsicum petals, daisies, … )
I like this blog. Really helpful and very motivational. Thanks a bunch. This will help me a lot.
