Woohoo! We're finally getting the party started in the living room. We've been busting out projects all week. (Feel free to give me an air high five!)
Today I'm here to share some fun geometric pillows I made with wool felt. It's one of my favorite projects I've made recently because I had so much fun playing with color!
First things first, you'll need to pick out some felt. I love high quality wool felt, but if you're on a tight budget (or in a hurry!) you can do this project with felt from any craft store (which is usually a synthetic material). I bought my felt on Etsy from Crafty Wool Felt. I love the colors they carry.
Supplies:
Cut the felt into 3" x 3" squares and then slice them from corner to corner, creating four triangles from each square.
Next, plan out your pillow top. It's really fun to place the triangles together, finding the perfect color combinations. I made pretty large pillow tops (about 21 inches square) with 7 squares across both ways.
Quick tip: I tried a couple of methods, but the best way I found to tack down triangles before sewing was just a little bit of fabric glue in the center of each triangle.
Stitch along the long edges of each triangle. This will tack both sides of the triangle down.
Once you've stitched all the triangles down, cut another piece of fabric the same size, and place the sides you want to become the front and back of your pillow together.
Stitch around the pillow, leaving a 4" gap at the bottom center of the pillow to turn it inside out and add stuffing.
Turn your pillow inside out. Now it should look like this! :)
Add stuffing. My rule of thumb is stuff it a little bit more than you think it needs. Last, just hand stitch that 4" hole closed, and you are done.
Hooray! Be sure to give your new pillows a giant hug because why not?
Here she is! I'm having so much fun adding color to our neutral living room. Next up—shelves! xo. Elsie

These are the cutest cushions! I really want to try and make these in lots of different colours!! Thank you for sharing!
For some reason I can’t see the Supplies list? I mean, I can figure it out… but you may like to edit the post so it’s clear! 🙂
this is just great my grandchildren had fun cutting out all the felt I let them choose there own colours. THANK YOU
I LOVE those faux-brass side tables! But having a bit of trouble finding the patterned metal sheeting to make the bottom, would mind giving me a link to where you bought it?
Thank you for always being so encouraging and inspiring. Lots of love from Finland! 🙂
So bright and colourful! I want to try making a few patchwork cushions for my new house… This sure looks like a much easier way to do it! 🙂
Wow… Wonderful colors. Wish I had the patience to do so much stitching!!! 😉
I love those pillows and since I’m about to move to a new appartement I’m definitely gonna make them. But I also love this simple but beautiful rug of yours. I tried to finde it on West Elm but couldn’t and since I’m german and they only ship within the USA, I couldn’t get it even if they still had it. So I’m thinking about coloring a simple white rug myself. Could you take a picture of the whole rug to help me get some inspiration?
Lisa xoxo
